  1. Eat anything you want- just be mindful that you've come so far and you don't want to sabotage yourself. Save some money and don't order anything- just ask the person/people you are with to give you 1 bite of what they have. So, a bite of a hotdog, fries, ice cream-whatever is fine. But try to make good choices, of course. Water instead of soda or juice and veggies/protein instead of fried stuff.

Have fun in the sun! I've not made it to Myrtle this year, weird.

  2. Hi, I am in the pre-op stage of getting my lap-band, I must admit it was not my first choice as I wanted to have the RNY, however my insurance will only cover the band, so right now I feel like I am forced to choose a method I don't totally agree with. Thanks,

    Abingdongirl:redface:

    Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are not 100 percent committed, then this isn't for you.

  3. So I am not ashamed of the fact that I am having surgery to lose weight. Anyone who knows me knows how hard I have tried. I was talking to my mom yesterday and she told me that I shouldnt tell people. I was a little confused and asked her why. She said that I should just let them think I did it on my own. She didnt even want me to tell my step dad.... I cant do that! I know that when I lose weight he will buy my clothes and such. I would feel bad taking that money without him knowing. Has anyone else been through this? Am I wrong to tell people?:confused:

Treat this as you would ingrown toenails, bowel problems, and root canals. If you are the type to tell people your medical issues- sure, tell 'em.

But if you don't, then why would you consider this any different?

  4. Well i shouldn't say CAN you...i guess my questions is WHEN can you. This is NOT a "at what stage" question...i've been thinking lately (i'm 6 days post-op) and watching all these commercials or programs with people eating and I'm just curious as to those of you who have been banded at least months ago...can you eat a sub? Can you eat a regular salad? Can you eat one slice of italian bread with your small Pasta meal? Can you even eat a Pasta meal? Can you eat chinese food and have an eggroll? Can you have a regular sandwhich? Can you split an appetizer with a group of people and still have room for your meal?

I know PORTION SIZE will be much smaller...I just feel like I'll never be able to eat normally again...

It's up to your doc. You paid all that money so take his/her advice, right?

Mine was very down to earth and it was eat what you can tolerate, make better choices, and when introducing a new food since banded, eat only one or two bites to wait and see if it will go down.

Even after two years I can't eat a whole sandwich. Tonight for my 1am hunger I had 1 slice of bread w/ some Peanut Butter. If I try to eat a 6 inch from Subway it will come back up.

  5. I don't see why not, unless it's a buffet.

Am going to Disneys/Universals/SeaWorld (all 8 parks) in a few weeks w/ my daughter.

No way am I spending that kind of inflated money on TWO Entrees. I'll just get a drink and eat her leftovers.

But bumping this thread to see if anyone has gone to theme parks, particularly Sea World and Universal.

  6. I am In my third week post op so I can eat pretty much anything. I haven't had a fill yet and I can't control myself from eating everything. Anybody else having this same issue? Any clues on what I can do to help manage this.

Why are you trying to manage this? You are healing, not dieting or losing weight. The lapband isn't meant to be implanted then wake up with the scales going down. It's meant to be implanted, allow you to heal, and then work on your adjustments.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Eat and enjoy it while you can.

  7. I moved to NC last year and had an unfill before cosmetic surgery by a radiologist who did the best he could at a local hospital.....

I finally found a doc just outside Concord/Kannapolis who does adjustments for $160. And when I went the other day, he was prepping the Fluid and I asked about a local (as I've always had lidocaine)....he said he doesn't use it and it's just an extra prick.

Panic set in but in one try he got it! Was amazed as we all know how ports can move around.

Just wanted to share in case someone else is looking for adjustments like I was and couldn't find anyone.

  8. Lapband.com listed these people in Charlotte NC as a practice taking on 'out of towners' meaning those who are either traveling or move-ins (which is me....moved last year across the country)

They will not disclose their fee schedule until you make an appointment (they won't tell me how much that is either).

Seems they want to make $$$ from a 'new patient' exam and then they tell you how much visits are and adjustments will be.

    Don't fall for it!

There are too many practices taking on move-ins as the economy is tight.

  9. My nose now fits my face.

A few people have posted how their nose doesn't shrink with the rest of them....it happened to me too.

Had rhinoplasty almost 2 weeks ago and the bandages came off a few days ago.

I now look proportinate! I'm under goal weight and have stablized my weight from fluctuating.

My hope is I can start my new journey. But the band is always there- it's got my back!

  10. I live in Louisville Ky and we have had a huge change in the weather in the last week or so. We have had 90% humidity and temps in the upper 80's and 90's. My band was done in Oct so this is my first summer with the band. My last fill was 7 weeks ago and I have pretty good restriction. For the last week or week and a half I have not been able to hardly eat at all. Sometimes even liquids come back up like slime. For instance,

    b-fast..1/2 Protein bar

lunch...2 chicken nuggets from Chick Fil A

    dinner..3 bites of taco meat

snack...10 sun chips (then threw up)

This is not normal for me at all. I want to lose weight but I don't know if this is due to weather or slippage.

Interesting post. I was doing fine on maintenance out west in a dry cold climate. Moved to NC- hot and humid and within 2 months starting sliming every day.

Could be, is all I can answer....could be.

  11. You chose your doc/surgeon for his expertise so now is not the time to go against your doc's advice.

If you are on a liquid diet you have tons of things at your disposal to eat/drink.

If you are on a clear liquid diet choices are reduced a bit but still alot to choose from.

But if you are on a 3 tbsp diet....I don't know what to tell you. How long do you have to wait in between each 3 tbsp for?

My post op was eat when hungry. I could have had an entire can of broth....if I wanted it...but slowly.

Call the nurse and ask her what you can have at this point. But be sure to tell 'em that you are starving!
