  1. TLBC told me that I could pretty much have as much yougurt as I wanted (but you should try and still be reasonable about it!!!...trust me you won't want to over-do it anyways....it gets pretty tiresome). As far as type is concerned....I went with the lowfat of course. I was specifically told to NOT have the one with the fruit in it....(you know, the clumps of fruit on the bottom).....which makes sense....it adds a lot of extra sugar etc. I stuck to Source myself....(some had teeeeeny lil' bits of fruit in it)....but not chunks.
  2. Alright...I'm home early from work today and I just put in a load of laundry. NOW, I'm gonna go work out for the first time (on my ellipitcal trainer) since I hurt my knee in Nov. I realllllly need to be able to work out to win this battle....so here's hopin' my knee is nice to me.....I'm gonna put on my brace first. I know this was a boring post! LOL....but shadddddup; it IS my yammerin's afterall....plus I figure if I actually WRITE down that I'm gonna go workout, I will.....otherwise I'd be too shamefaced to come back and face the wrath of you all!!!! :hurt
  3. I feel for ya Nancy....the Xmas food Season would have been VERY difficult before having had a fill......I wouldn't have wanted that timing!! But, you made it and you have likely learned from it! Good luck with your first fill....hope that one does the trick for you....it does for some people! You're doing well and it sounds like you have a good attitude...half the battle!:clap2:
  4. Don't be a stranger Nancyc!!!....and let us all know how you are doin'!
  5. You are doing GREAT Bandiva....keep up with the exercise....that is part of the equation for sure!
  6. Yes Cloe....come to think of it, I do believe it was at one of those dirty ol' truck stops.....hmmmm.....................off the 401 I think!!!
  7. That is HILarious Astro!!! LMAO.....I would never have thunk that one up!!! Tks for sharing!
  8. Yes it is Devana....most beautiful indeed; I can't wait to suck it all in!!
  9. yup....most ppl go thru that phase prior to surgery Astrotoes....I had a lot of "last meals".....in anticipation.... Yes, you will still enjoy your food post-op.....likely even moreso. It's an adjustment tho. I still get sad/disappointed that I can't eat more of a good meal...but I do enjoy the amounts and food that I do eat.
  10. I forgot to mention....a GOOD thing about having to do the pre-op diet....you are WAY better prepared for the post-op diet as opposed to the folks I know who did not have to do a pre-op diet. For me, the post-op diet was a breeze after the pre-op....for those who didn't have a pre-op diet and then were faced with the post-op recovery diet....YIKES!!!
  11. anytime.....you know....a lot of this tough love goin' around with you and Lila out there!!! LOL
  12. Hi and welcome ljgnorth!!! Good luck on your upcoming date!! I won't lie to ya, for me the 2 week pre-op diet was REALLY hard. Admittedly, I cheated the first two days and then realized I was only hurting myself and got thru the remainder of the 2 weeks. I told myself that I NEEDED to do this to "shrink my liver" in order to make the actual operation go smoother for the docs and have a better recovery. When I told myself that....it really helped me stay on track. Seriously man, if I can do it, anyone can! I also can't stand the taste, site or smell of cottage cheese and so I only did the yogurt thing. Tips: take one meal at a time and don't think of how many days you still have left of it....you'll go insane. "hmmmmm what will I have for Breakfast (lunch, dinner) today...hmmmm lets see....I can have yogurt or....oh yeah, there is yogurt....or perhaps some yogurt". It was tough man. But to help, I treated each time as a meal and I wouldn't eat out of the lil' yogurt cups (if that is what you have). Dish out your yogurt into a real bowl with a real spoon and sit down to breakfast/lunch/dinner like a regular person and eat. It makes ya feel like you are eating a regular meal....and have really as much as you want. In all seriousness, if you can make it through about the first 5 days, the rest will be easier......it is the carb withdrawal that will get to ya....but after the first few days, it gets better....just keep telling yourself that you are literally going thru withdrawal; it seems to make it easier to take. Prepare yourself for the carb withdrawal headaches and irritability....but just recognize it for what it is. Good luck!
  13. o yeah man, I agree with Cloe....definitely keep your prescribed pain meds for future use if you don't use it all. I was prescribed demerol and had (and still have) lots left over....it comes in real handy on the days I have reallllllly bad cramps!!! Sublime! Oh, also....I took my pain meds post -op whether I thought I needed it or not....just take it anyways......why have pain if you don't need to? Don't be a hero! Even doing that, I still have lots left over!
  14. No worries Cloe......I know you have blond roots!!!
  15. Yes that is it Mookie....the town is world famous for it's bldg murals.
  16. *waves* hiya Tres Chic!!!! welcome future fellow TLBCer!

  18. awwwwwwwwwww poor Neenagh!!!! *what were you thinking!!* Take care and hope you get it sorted out soon!!! (and next time, listen to the doc!!!) LOL
  19. EXELLENT question......!!!! Jude....... r u still around??!!!! Hope all is well at your end!
  20. :bump: :bump: Lots of new Canucks on here.....fellow Canadians wanna know the meaning/significance behind your nic!!!! Do tell!
  21. Welcome Welcome Welcome Astrotoes!!! I thought I felt your lurking presence here!!! LOL. Congrats on your decision to be banded :clap2: Now that you've jumped in, we hope you will be here more often. *waves to all the other lurkers out there*. We seeeeeeeee you!!!! Come say howdy!
  22. Bandiva....actually I won't be staying in Victoria, I'll be staying in Chemainus (where your relatives are Mookie...I assume that is where you meant!). I'll land and then be whisked off up island! But otherwise, if I was in Vict....definitely a get together would have been warranted! Becca & Mookie....I actually am switching planes in Edmonton but I'm only there for an hour before my next flight leaves. I don't think that gives me anytime when you consider that normally the board the plane 30 mins prior....which therefore only gives me 30 mins at the airport and I'm not sure I can even leave security. But it would have been a kewl idea if I were there longer!! On the way back, I stop off in Calgary.
  23. Okay, I know I started a thread on my airplane price issues but I'm too lazy to look for/find it!!! hehe. Thought I'd let you know (those that care! LOL....) that I booked my flights to Victoria today...(late April).....got it with Westjet for a total of $497. YEEEEHAAAA!!!! Way better than the regular $827 price....and better than Air Canada's current seat sale price of $550.....good thing I waited.....I almost booked it last week when WestJet's sale price was $680.......I don't think I'll do much better than $497.....not from TO to Vic.!!!! I told my folks today; seemed to have made their day. I'll even be there for my mom's b'day....so she is thrilled!
  24. Maggie....TLBC required me to have blood tests, ECG (or is it EKG? LOL) and a chest X-ray. All of this takes no time at all. There are a lot of threads (here on the Canuck section and also in the "general" & "support" sections) dealing with the "to tell or not to tell issue".....I recommend searching them out and you will get a wealth of responses/posts on it. I, too, chose VERY selectively who to tell. I told Mr Yoda (obviously) and my folks (who live in a land far far away....also known at BC). A friend of mine who also had it done (a month prior to me) also knows as well as two or three other friends who knew because they knew about hers and it just sort of "came up". I would probably still like it better if even all these people didn't know but the choice was basically taken out of my hands. Otherwise, I still keep it very private.....everyone has there own reasons for not saying much (if that is what they decide to do). I know others who don't care and tell anyone and everyone and they are ok with it.....to each his/her own (only you can know about your life and about your "circle" and the support (overt or covert) that you will get so only you can make the decision that is right for you). Just know that this is a common issue and there are many sides to it!
