TLBC is great....but make sure you speak up all the same!!!! (ie. if they don't ask!). They do know better...but only if they have the right info that only YOU can provide them with!

Susan's Solemn Silliness
MacDaddy...tis a good thing I wasn't drinkin' over the keyboard this time around....as I would have spewed my beverage as I read your post!!! (I did that once, not a pretty site and it got Mr Yoda pretty upset!). Your wife is AWEsome!!! Reward her, you must!!! Perhaps with the Owen Wilson angle....oooops, I digress!!! :nervous KUDOS to your wife!! :clap2: :clap2: Susan: I don't know so much about people on the Canadian thread going alone but I know of several on the general thread who did go alone. No problem. It is preferable that you have someone pick you up and take you home etc.....but yes, lots of people went alone...and even spent overnight alone etc. You'll be fine....if you feel it is important not to disrupt your daughter's routine....then so be it. I don't know your hubby...so he may be okay with it (or maybe he only "says" he is okay with it)....but it is him I would worry about...he may feel the "need" to be "with" you.....though he says it would be for moral support for you...in actuality he may need the support for himself....by being with you. If circumstances were such that I felt I had to go alone, it would have made Mr Yoda distraught....the idea of not being there with me to walk me in and say "see ya later" and "I love you" etc....you know...what with the "what ifs". Same on my end, there is no way I could let him go alone.....so just be sure you think/consider your hubby's needs in this decision too. But if it turns out you have to go alone, you can do it!

LOL @ MacDaddy...good to see they didn't mistakenly remove your sense of humour while you were under....! Hey, I like Owen's nose...it has definite posibilities!! *winka winka* :kiss

Doddie...make sure you tell them that when you go for your fill. They "should" ask you questions..you know...about how much restriction your are feeling, how hungry you are (or aren't) etc before deciding how much to put in.....so make sure you make them aware of the slight restriction you already feel!

My Consult and date!!
That is great news!!!

Pre-Op Diet
Jurema: it's all a personal taste issue. Go to the grocery store and buy a few different brands (ie. the single serving ones) and try them...find one you like (brand wise) and then get some different flavours in that brand. You'll do fine.....like you, I can't stand cottage cheese....

Becca...I have a very short stop in Edmonton to change planes on my was to Victoria on 18 Apr...I'll be sure to wave at ya! Mandi: how long do they expect it to take? Who knows with these guys!!! THey were here all day yesterday and they were here this morning for a few hours...they are supposed to come back again tomorrow and then do the whole rip up the floor thing next week. Hopefully it will all be done before I go to BC as I do NOT want Mr Yoda taking any time off work for this...(the whole reason he isn't coming with me is because he can't spare the time off work).

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
EXACTLY!!!! And, I tell ya...both Mr Yoda and are waaaaaay too freakin' nice to deal with these people for EXACTLY that reason. Neither of us have that a$$hole gene. Sometimes I wish one of us had SOME of it so we can "put our foot down" but it's hard to pretend ya have it when ya don't...(& very very very stressful!). But, that is why I love Mr Yoda so much....so I can't get on his case for NOT demonstrating a$$holiness!! LOL The worker dudes are gone for now but they will be back again tomorrow bright and early. UGH.

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
Thanks Dame J....yeah, here's hopin'!!! Yup, I know it could be way worse.....I just wish the craftsmen doing it (well, those who did it) were more professional and took some pride in their work...ya know? Instead of just slappin' thing together. I swear, I think they just gave a group of monkeys a tool box and said, "go at it boys". :rolleyes :phanvan

Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)
Bought it and moved into it 18 months ago. Had problems with our floor (specifically the kitchen floor) from DAY 1...we told them this as it was being built...but they systematically ignored our concerns. So, now...18 mos later...we just had our Tarion (Ontario home builder warranty) one year conciliation inspection (for all the things that are "wrong" and need fixin') (this was 2 weeks ago)...and now the builder guys are here trying to rip up the entire kitchen floor (& subfloor) and put in new (the proper ones this time!!)joists underneath the kitchen floor (ie. from the basement). The were just supposed to do joists today but showed up first thing this morning wanting to rip up the floor...and were mad cause our kitchen hadn't been emptied out. I could go on and on about this fiasco but I can feel my heart rate speeding up....suffice to say that I'm sooooooo not a happy camper and I don't like having all these strange guys around doing bad things to our house! (it's also our first house...so all one big learning curve for us). It is especially frustrating because if they HAD OF LISTENED TO US from the beginning....we wouldn't be where we are now...and it would save the Builder a WHOLE lotta mooooola!!!! grrrrr grrrrr :tired :tired :tired :tired

Pre-Op Diet
I was told just yougurt (no fruit bottoms in it) and cottage cheese...but you will find out for sure at your consult. Also...I didn't mention this because this is the part that varies for each person: for the first of the two week pre-op diet, I was allowed to have chicken (nothing on it...just plain chicken...) and any green veg. To be honest, I think I only had chicken 3 times (I would fry up chicken strips...no oil or anything) that first week and I had no veg....I still stuck mainly to the yougurt that week as well. Some need to do it for 3 weeks; others for 1 week. You'll get the details.

Fill on large band
No pat answer....no right/wrong answer...it is competely and literally different for every individual. Some need no fill at all (ever!); and on the other end of the spectrum, some need the full amount that the band takes....the "sweet spot" can be anything along that spectrum....sooooo many variables and all you can do is go through it and do the trial and error thing....no guess work! All part of this fun process!

Pre-Op Diet
Thankfully, TLBC doesn't resort to the use of Optifast for their pre-op diet. They'll go over it for you...the length of it and some details differ depending on the individual (ie. how much to lose etc). It generally will consist of a yogurt and cottage cheese diet for 1 to 2 weeks (depending). I did the optifast program a few years ago....and so TRUST ME....doing the yogurt/cottage cheese thing is MUCH better!!! AND, for me, I despise cottage cheese (can't even look at it!) so it was just yogurt for me!!! You'll do fine; it is the toughest part, but if I can do it, anyone can! All I kept telling myself is that I HAD to do it for my own safety...to help make the liver smaller and more manageable so that the surgical procedure would be easier, go well and assist in the recovery. That was the only motivation I needed to stick to it....(plus I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks!).

Argon's Activities
Donna: it is up to you whether or not you want to actually book your surgery date on the date of your consult. However, if you do...be prepared, as they will want your downpayment (non-refundable) on the day you book the surgery date. So, heads up!

Yes Loriely, the men are WAAAAAY too spoiled!!!!! (tho I must admit I am more spoiled than Mr Yoda, fer sure!!). We saw "Reign on Me"....it was okay...lil' slow. Last wknd we saw "SHOOTER" with my baby Mark Whalberg!!!!! mmm mmmm goooood!! Oh, the movie was excellent too!!! (seriously, has been a long time since I was on the edge of my seat for an entire movie!). Speaking of concerts...I've seen too many to even count...but I remember the very first one I ever saw (no parents)...I was 13 and it was The Village People!!! LMAO!!!!!
