How Fast From Beginning to End?
Of course each clinic will vary and what is currently a 4 week wait for surgery time can be 6 to 8 weeks later....it all depends on how many people are booking for what time frame. You'd have to contact the respective clinics and inquire re. how long in advance they are booking. I was banded a year ago (TLBC) and had to wait 6 weeks for my date...but that was my choice (my schedule); I could have had it within 3 weeks. My husband just had his consult (TLBC) and by the time he has his surgery (4 May) he will have waited 4 weeks since his consult.

Credible Research Materials On Banding and Related Issues
Yeah....and unfortunately, many go the bypass route because they can't afford the band (or choose not to afford it....I mean...I'm sure most of us don't have $16 grand to through away....we just go into debt for it!). I know a couple of people who got the bypass but who desperately wanted the band. I wish provincial health care would play "catch up" on this issue so that the band can be just as a viable (& covered) option as the bypass. Every research article helps point the gov't in that direction.

Well, I'm all set to go
Congrats Donna....you will soon be on your way!!!!!:clap2: Yes, Dr. Yau is terrific!!!

When you were on the Pre-op diet....
Yeah...Neal...now THERE's an INCREDIBLE success story for ya!! He completely BLOWS me away!!! I know he has also inspired Mr Yoda.

PM comin' your way Robgoblin!

When you were on the Pre-op diet....
It WILL be very hard robgoblin (I did it for 14 days) but the silver lining is that it is THE hardest part of the whole journey (at least for me!). Everything else is a piece of cake....so it is kinda kewl to get the hardest part over right at the start!
-
I told you so...
Mr. Yoda's is at 2:00....I think they scheduled him for the last one of the day, as he has to stay overnight at the clinic (Sleep apnea)...(I had to do that too). Who is accompanying you? I will likely see them in the waiting room.

Oldtimers thread
Gaffer....if you like the cactus cuts....have you tried the perogie pizza??? TO DIE FOR!!!!!! and spiiiiiiicy!!!! YUMMMI!!! I still have it sometimes; order the individual and I can eat (slowly) two pieces and bring the rest home. Now, before you all freak out at me being able to eat "two pieces"....the Individual BP pizza is extremely small.....ONE piece can be eaten by a "normo" in like two or 3 bites....so two pieces is about 12 bandster bites! Now MY mouth is watering!

Dr. Yau or Dr. Cobourn/Mumford?
Oh, completely agree with you on that Doddie!

Dr. Yau or Dr. Cobourn/Mumford?
Personally, I can't say enough about the TLBC post-op care. But...lets face it...as adults we have to be proactive....if you have a problem post-op...you have to be sure you contact them....they won't magically know and contact you!! I do know that they recently hired a "Chief of Staff" type person....so there may have been a change period going on etc. ....and I'm not an out-of province patient but nor am I living in TO, either!
-
Dr. Yau or Dr. Cobourn/Mumford?
Yeah, I hear ya robgoblin...but the reason this thread was about those two clinics only is because that was the original question posed....Cat had a consult at those 2 clinics and so was specifically asking about the two of them. It is understood that there are more than two in the TO area.

Susan's Solemn Silliness
Good for you Doddie!!! Well done!! Rates up there with what CanMacdaddy's wife said to the blonde bimbo!!! LOL. On that note...Mr Yoda chatted with his GP today and told him what he was doing. The Doc was completely supportive and even wanted the TLBC phamplet we brought to show him so he could pass it around to his other patients who might be interested (he didn't know much about lapband but we filled him in).....he was quite pleased and told Mr Yoda that he was impressed with his attitude and his proactive behaviour etc etc. He also is going to provide a letter (ie. stating that he is, in fact obese and the surgery would improve his health etc) so that we can claim part on our private health care plan (we will get about 1500-1800 back). So, at least this is an example of a positive experience with a GP....wish there were more!

Oldtimers thread
Who cares if you put food that you already paid for into your ziploc containers though mandi!!! I mean, you wouldn't do it at an all you can eat buffet...but a regular restaurant...sure!!! By the way.....I love the "cactus cut potatoes" at BP....have you had those?? YUMMMMMMY and they go down well....very spicey though...so if you don't like spice or it bugs your band.....not recommended!

Think Positive List
Good idea to bump this thread Mandi!!! I read my post from a long time ago about collar bones...and HOT DIGGITY.....I have 'em!!!! They're quite bony and stick out!!! And here I thought I was perhaps born without 'em!!!! LOL

Dr. Yau or Dr. Cobourn/Mumford?
LeslieLee.....you are getting way too anxious!! You have absolutely no reason to switch at all; you are in excellent hands. You have to look at the big picture. Gaffer: info on the inamed band is not "started" by me...if you do a search on all the threads (not just canuck) you will see the same comments. I am not "against" the inamed band in any way, shape, or form and if that is the one Dr Yau had chosen for me...no problem. This is a very minor thing. Dame J....wow....not once on this thread did I see one single person "pit one clinic against the other"...in fact, just the opposite. People either expressed why they chose the clinic they did...and, in fact, most people (including myself) stated the obvious...that the two clinics Cat inquired about were/are both top notch and she would be in good hands with either one. Did you read the posts? And, by the way, Cat did do her research beforehand on both clinics and in fact was going to have a consult with both......

When you were on the Pre-op diet....
Mr Yoda is a chef and he actually does the majority of the cooking at home so I didn't have that issue!!!
