Hi mmm, how many days it it now?!..bet your getting excited/nervous?!..dont worry about the hospital or care..i was a bit but id go back there for any operation now..no probs there at all..glad youve got your sloppy bra knickers and joggers..you wont care what you look like!..i didnt even brush my hair when we left hotel next morning at 3.30am, and im one to be in full make up with hair perfectly in place, no matter what time!..i did even contemplate travelling home in my PJs as i couldnt be bothered to take em off!.i still felt nauseus and had the effects of the barium still working then...nice!..so hope you havent got an early flight like ours (ours was at charleroi airport too, over an hours drive in torrential rain and high winds and dark,my husband drove, hard work!) a few hours more in bed would have made all the difference i think for me..anyway, good luck, i know you wont need it though, you will be fine like the rest of us and will be back on here in no time after your op!. gillian x

Hi TC, thats not right what freddy boy said about those who book with him going first!(i didnt evenbook with him!)..as soon as id booked in at the hospital i was taken away from bigsister and wishfull and went along corridors and bridges to another building, where i was in a room for 4 but all alone!..i was told to get changed quick as doc chris was waiting for me, it wasnt even 8am by then! i had my drip set up etc and was took straight down..when i got to the op room, they were all looking wierd and talking in another language to me..they thought i was flemish and they always do the flemish first they said..he told me all the things i had to know while i was on the op table and i had to sit up and sign the consent form!.he said he didnt like to do it that way but if he didnt do it immediatly that ther would be no op!..i didnt mind..next a nice anaesthatist said you are going to feel sleepy, as all the anaesthetic is now going through your drip! was glad about that as i didnt fancy having injection..i was thinking...no im not going to sleep!..then he said sweet dreams and then i woke up!..i was shivering but didnt feel cold, and i had no pain..i had a silver blanket put over me i think and like a big hairdryer blowing under it. i went off to sleep again and after a while in recovery was took back to my room this time there were 3 other flemish people who looked like theyd had facelifts or something by the bandages..they told me it was a day ward and i couldnt stay there and took me to another room nearer to bigsister and wishfull.they hadnt even gone down by then i dont think...anyway about 6pm a flemish woman, the last of the day was brought back into our room, i think they got our slots mixed up!...so if you wanna go first, heres a tip, learn fluant flemish and change your name to a flemish one..they had my name down as "MEYERS" this may be a flemish name?! my name is myers by the way!.but as long as its van der summat you will go first! x

hey boboboldy..i snipped the knots and line to my "fishing line" stitches..it relieved them a bit, but can you remember how long it was till you felt they had actually dissolved underneath?..cant see anything of mine but they are still pulling from underneath...that tiny bit of fishing line sticking out doesnt look like it will ever dissolve! although they are feeling more comfortable now. oh yes, we think you should be on commision from WLS for the custom you have got them off here!..Gillian x

I sat in a fish and chip restaurant in town today opposite my husband and i just had a cup of tea, i couldnt resist and tried a chip...and didnt i just know about it...it hurt!..suppose thats the band doing its job! and me being naughty..it soon puts me in my place!

WELCOME HOME TC! glad everything went well for you i was thinking about you. Im doing well, think my dissolving stitches are easing now, i have been in the bath every night laid on my side massaging them, think it helps to break them down..so thats a tip after you have had your blue stitch took out that is..keep your plasters off then unless they are bleeding or weeping. i got some pain yesterday tea time after eating a turkey dinosaur off my sons plate!!! cant believe i did that so it just serves me right doesnt it?!?!...anyway i could certainly feel that i did have some restriction then!!!..im jumping round the kitchen banging my chest and davids going "whats up?!"..i said ive got a bloody dinosaur stuck in my band...funny really!. just had a weetabix for breakfast warm with plenty of milk, went down well too. bowels are still needing to get used to my new way of eating too! lol! glad to hear you booked a package with WLS..is there one near you?..we are delighted it is at a local BUPA hospital only 10 mins drive!.Boboboldy should mention how many people hes got to sign up..he might get a free fill or something!..anyway, i hope you continue to feel better every day..like i have, dont overdo it in your first week though x

Hi shoes!, think were all doing great..we all seemed to lose a stone straight away..but obviously it has got stuck now!..just our bodies reacting to losing a load i think, and its hanging onto it now! it needs a kick start, but im not having fill till march, i could go in feb, but WLS has said you do need at least 6 weeks after surgery..and im taking their advice..letting my body heal first, also my stitches are still quite sore as they havent dissolved yet.. I hope you have a good experience when you go over, but remember youll feel bit rough for first day,to take plenty of rest afterwards, and dont do too much too soon..Im not one for sitting around but i have been in my PJs till about 12 noon most days!..back working monday so thats end of that!. bet your getting all excited now arent you?!..what date is your surgery? neither did i stick to pre op diet!...well. i did, but ate chocolate and chips and stuff inbetween and a curry before i went..i was fine, and so was liver!.flirty, i feel so sorry that you have had a rubbish time with fills and im so glad that boboboldy told me in the nick of time about WLS aftercare providers..i think i would go and see them def!..i have just spoke to michelle at WLS, she is the managing director and she is lovely, she has a band herself, and was on a tv prog other week called extreme dieters, about people who have had the surgery..shes lost loads. anyway she asked me who did my band and as soon as i said chris de bruyne, she said aah chris, he is an excellent surgeon and he places his bands perfectly..we have no problems with his bands at all...so thats something good!...and like has been said, no we have no complaints with chris or his surgery at all, just the aftercare..maybe he should be told if were not satisfied, as yes, it could hurt his excellent reputation?..hope you soon get your sweet spot flirty you must be frustrated, gillian x

oh yes, did everyone see GOK last night?? it showed you the gastric band "in person" and how it works etc. that poor joe, lives next door to a friend, she says hes a nice kid, i see him, opposite my house getting on the bus home after school, they must let him out early on his own. i hope that him and all the kids do get help they need, it was a good scheme they were running for them , they were all confident together, and supporting each other, and the weight was coming off at the gym and my local swimming pool, I have 3 boys, and none of them have had the same eating patterns, my eldest ate almost nothing and even had to go to dieticians etc,my middle one eats normally and at meal times, but would rather play out than eat..my youngest is never out of the fridge, cupboard, and is hungry all the time, he is a bit overweight,so i am keeping an eye on him. but it just goes to show how we are all different and its not all about how we are brought up..its that old debate..."nature or nurture".(oh yes, i read a quote from ricky gervais talking about weight loss he said peole should cut down and get off their backsides, and people who have weight loss surgery, such as a gastric band, are fat lazy pigs!!!) nice!, thats ricky off my xmas card list! gillian x

thanks shoes, feeling better every day, last week i thought id never be able to eat again due to trapped wind pain and still had bit of nausea...it soon disappeared and now im back to my normal self...and i could still eat for england, ireland ,scotland and wales, infact whole world prob!..i dont think i have much if any restriction at the mo...so will need that fill!...if i dont chicken out!..im having nightmares about it being a foot long blunt needle! lol! getting very nervous about it, and if i do pass out, it would prob be preferable, as at least he can get fill in! ha! gillian x

mine stood still yesterday, and this morning put a pound on!!.but have come on just this minute, so its prob that?..if were eating like this there is no way for it to go but down..just keep with it, and im not going to weigh myself til next week now!..glad stitch out didnt hurt, im going for mine out in 15 mins!..i would be ok if i could inject myself..its the control thing i think! my stitches giving some jip still, so if any older bandsters can remember how long it took for the dissolving ones to dissolve and ease id be pleased if youd let me know! anyway im gonna go in another deep bath tonight..that makes everything better! x

:Dancing_biggrin:Welcome back Tamisu!..glad everything went well for you...i know you feel great but dont set yourself back a couple of days by doing too much on first day back like i did!..you have got away with the gas/shoulder pain!? youre very lucky!.I didnt have the pleasure of meeting your young male nurse unfortunatly!..but lots of male nurses though i noticed..going for blue stitch out today, ive not got any dressings on now and went in bath last night..think it was a bit earlier than recommended, but it felt good and the stitches looked better after too..I have cut the "fishing line" ones off, that has relieved the tightness, they are there to support the dissolving ones i think, which are under the skin, so just have to wait for them to dissolve think it takes around 2 weeks to start dissolving..but getting better every day. my next big thing is the fill!!!..i am really scared of needles, not that they hurt that much, but i cant seem to stay still and will flinch and tense up and jump about, im scared about him not being able to find it cos ill be so jumpy..I have no idea how they do it,standing up, lying down, sitting??? can anyone "fill" me in on "fills" please?! and is there anyone out there like me who is very sensitive to being touched around belly and flinches or cant keep still during a fill?!(its just me isnt it?!)..i can see that ill come out without having it done cos hell get impatient with me..suppose ill still have to pay though!, and what use is a band without a fill?!..does he (its frederick in manchester) give you a little jab of local first? any tips and info appreciated. Hi every one, freckles..good news about your op!! also TC is being banded tomorrow, shes over there now..hope everything goes great for her and shes back on here soon with her story!.sanflan, i hope your feeling better every day?! its not the easy way out is it..its when the hard work starts!...I am getting the munchies now and could eat a scabby donkey fried in engine oil!..had baby rice for breakfast, 2 cuppas, and now just about to have a quite thick but smooth parsnip soup... prob wouldnt have liked it before but everything tastes like nectar at the mo after living on liquid!...still got head hunger and looked longingly at a cream egg wondering if there was a way round it..BUT I DIDNT!..and i wont, i have not paid this much out and put my body throgh surgery to fail!..I will lose this weight!. x

well done!! and so glad your feeling a lot better, every day youll be even more so..I am just having bit of jip with stitches being tight when i bend down or get up, hopefully that will ease soon as they dissolve.I now feel like i havent had a band put in and am getting the munchies. expect that happens to most people as the time goes on after first week!..got to be strict with myself! I think my weight loss is gonna be slower than other peoples, until ive had a few fills anyway, but i dont mind im expecting it to be about 2 years anyway ill do it slowly, like fern! and as long as i lose a little bit each month, and dont put on, ill be happy. took all these years to put on, take time to get it off suppose. :crying::uwelcome:hi and welcome to shoes, cherry hog and sammy!!!..you have come to the right place for all the friendly advice you need pre and post op....i dont know if i would have gone through with it if it hadnt been for all this lot!!..i was banded last friday, im doing very well, and lost 12lbs up to now...i know that will slow soon and prob come to a standstill for a while as my stomach over surgery and i start to eat again. so not expecting miracles...like people have said on here it can be after quite a few fills that youll get good restriction..but its ok, you will get it...just have to be patient i suppose, look at fern its took her over 2 years to get down...i know its only natural to want all your weight shifted in a few months, but it is better for your body, and skin if done slower really. so im not going to be looking for an amazing weight loss straight away..i was hoping if i did it slower that people wouldnt notice so much and wouldnt be asking questions anyway!(those i havent told, lots of em!)..I was going to take my kids with me,as it was only option at the time i booked, but so glad i didnt..mind you mine are sods!..they would have been bored out of their minds as ther was nothing around hotel and not child freindly place either..i def wouldnt have called it a holiday...altho i did think it would be before i went..would never have felt like leaving hotel bed for the time i was there and certainly not going for a walk..but there are apartments you can go to if you have kids if you have to take them..but dont lift your child up,and be carefull with pushing and pulling. for about 2 weeks or more after..get as much help as poss.youll need it with kids..esp babies. hope i havent put anyone off who has young kids.:tt2:.but im not going to say it will be easy..cos this forum is here to tell the truth, help and advise. anyway, im just drinking smoothie had an actimel drink earlier...starting to take in more calories now i suppose..so weight loss up to now is prob due to drinking mainly water due to nausea first few days..so not expecting miracles now!....hope everyone is ok and if you havent already gone TC27....then all the best, look forward to your return where you can tell us your story!..Gillian x:Dancing_wub:
