Hi mmm!...yes! we managed our curries!..although smaller portions, I made pear crumble for afters, but didnt manage to have any as i got discomfort after eating the curry..its strange as it feels like im all tight in the chest neck area, but it even feels like its in the sinus area too!..whats all that about then?. i dont feel any different restriction after the fill, but i didnt have much put in..ill be having more in next week..i know everyone is different so, it could be quite a few fills before i reach good restriction. its still hard work though, im easily managing no chips, cos they hurt a bit, but the chocolate thing is killing me,as its slips down so easy! hope everyone else is doing well pre and post banders?.. -

anyone had this??..my port is normally not felt or has no discomfort, but every now and again i get a really sharp pain, as if i have a big metal belt buckle digging in, it lasts for the rest of the day usually and it hurts to bend down and anything where i flex my stomach muscles, its as if port is really digging into something underneath it, im hoping it will go.prob when i lose more weight it wont tug so much at the stitches? i dunno?. maybe its way ive slept on it or something? gillian x -

Well jsut logged on this morning and im shocked and think its really sad, that all these things have been said last night. lets hope we can get back to the point. I have my own opinions but wont say them, so will just get back to what this forum is for..the gastric band, christiaan de bruyne and supporting and advising each other about this...and i hope that this forum isnt going to lose any members, as ive found it invaluable for support as most others have..and hope that if there are any more disagreements they will be sent through private message, and if there are any new visitors to this thread..dont let it put you off, its not usually like this! so come on girlies and guys! lets get over yesterday and back to how it was other day! gillian x -

 Hi Freckles..im so glad your mum is feeling a lot better, and more like her old self..It will have been the water infection that was leaving her feeling awful and also halucinating, (and talking broken biscuits!(not heard that saying before!)..its not very nice for us to see when they are like that either is it. so glad you have got somewhere, and hope shell be able to stand up and take a few steps soon,i know it takes longer for broken bones to heal in the elderly, and shell need some physiotherapy, but like you say, the best physio is probably doing her normal things at home, where she has her family for support, she might need a frame,or sticks at first for confidence ,but hopefully shell be mended very soon. oh, hope your doing well too!?, your soup sounds lovely, ill take a trip to asda! x -

Sammy, i hope everything goes to plan with your journey, the satnav for europe is an excellent idea..we borrowed one from bigsisters son, it was very good for finding way to hospital/hotel etc.you will find it a godsend.. as at last minute we realised our own was only UK..you can hire them from companys on internet, they are sent out by courier to you but are expensive and to download the europe maps to your UK TOMTOM is abot £60 we found, you will at least get use out of it again too, wish wed have bought the europe one in first place. no need for me to wish you good luck with op etc as doctor Chris his team, hosp and staff are fantastic.. hope you make good quick recovery, especially as you have your baby to care for, like we have said before, you need to get all the rest you can for the first week, even if you feel ok..so ask for help, and accept any thats offered, even if its just taking your baby out for a walk for an hour. hope you enjoy your break beforehand, make the most of it,and dont forget to have a good last supper! its last thing youll eat properly for ages (and if you like steak, the last one youll be able to have too!) let us know how everything has gone when you get home, and you feel up to it,well be thinking about you!..gillian x -

aah freckles, your poor mum, it must be awful for her and for you sseing her like this. its not been long since her op and will take longer for her to heal cos of her age..lets hope shes soon up and about and back home with you..sounds like shell need some physiotherapy and it will take a while too (it was a broken hip wasnt it?) its a big thing for an older lady, and it must have really shaken her up.. it is really important for her to drink a lot of juice, hope she gets that cup you got her filled regullarly also shell need anti biotics for that water infection, and i know when my dad was hospitalised and had numerous water infections...he talked some right gobaldygook (or as you say, broken biscuits!).as his body temp went above normal,he got really confused and sort of hallucinated too, so hopefully shell be a lot better when that is sorted out......AND..how are you?..i bet you dont have the time to think about how you are at the mo with being so busy, and worrying..hope you are still managing to get your feet up at night? your still recovering yourself. i was also naughty after being banded, and tested it quite a bit i must say. anyway hope your feeling better every day, and i hope your mum is very soon home where you can look after her well..take care, gillian x -

Hi mmm!!..or grandma mmm!!..great news, and also that your daughter is going to get all that care from the band surgeon..thats very good aftercare!.. I agree with what you said to flirty about ketosis being a sign that the body is in crisis..hope she takes advice, she deserves to be healthy and feeling good after all she has been through and shes only 25 too.good luck to her. oh, our fills went great, i was scared stiff, and could not believe why after!...the needle just felt like the one they did your anti blood clot injections into your stomach after op!..just a little sting, and it only took a minute on the table!..cant even see the needle prick this morning!..all that worrying for nothing i did!!.Wendy was really nice too..the hardest part in the end was walking around leeds , with all the lovely eateries!..and couldnt have a coffee before for what we thought was 3 hours, but she said that 1 hour before would have been fine, but still 3 hours for food. and after you can have coffee straight away. cant feel any restriction now, but she said that even if it was filled up to the max..you would never feel restriction with liquids..got another fill in 2 weeks where shes gonna top it up,then we can go every two weeks but are going to go once a month to the sheffield clinic 10 mins away..but at least we can take quick trip to leeds if need be.. anyway were on liquids for couple of days..so just on slimfast for breakfast and soup for dinner, and prob for tea too.it wont do me any harm!, hope i can stick to it ok, and my weight starts shifting..our bands are HAGE (heliogast evolution) its the small 10ml band and it can have a fill of 7 to 9mls max in it..she said its an excellent band, so pleased about that. x -

Here here...flirty, you are just like a car running on empty, you gotta put some good fuel in there, it doesnt have to be high calorie..you will suffer from blackouts if you dont, and other things too, headaches and bad breath are another symptom of ketosis (and you got plenty of snogging to do now!)..Gary is right about ketosis, its when you start to burn muscle instead of fat..and you dont want that..you need that muscle for your skin to drape around,or you will get a few saggy bits..and you need protein for building muscle..I know its frustrating for you with this last little bit, but go carefully and sensible flirty, losing your excess weight should be making you feel healthier, not having blackouts!..sorry for being matronly, but i do worry!..you have done fantastic in such a short time, and with the exersize regimes you have got lined up,you should be able to eat more and you will still lose like wishfull said. you need some fuel in your tank to do this like big sister said..good luck! x -

hi sammy, bigsister bought the dressings they were called "opsite" from Lloyds chemist..pack of 5..i changed em for her about 5 days after and they were better than any of the expensive ones i bought. looking at your list..take a carton or two of pure apple or something, there is a LIDL there about half way between hosp and hotel if you need to buy anything like that when your there, your hubby could walk through the park from hosp to shop it would take 5 to 10 mins..take some extra tea bags or coffee and sugar too, and cups for hotel, and bit of milk or coffee mate. good idea to take some remegels or rennie too. its gonna be harder work for you as you have to think of everything for your baby too, but get plenty of rest after and take all the help you can get after..gillian x
