    Going back to work?

My surgery is June 2nd my surgeon has set me out of work for 4 weeks, hope that is all I need.
  16. Hi I too was banded in 2009, did well at first some discomfort with certain foods but lost about 90lbs in all. Last year I noticed that I was having a lot of pain when I was eating and drinking, so my doctor ordered an upper GI study which showed that I was closed up and my esophagus was enlarged, surgeon took fluid out and.pain slowly went away. Had another GI study in March and although my esophagus was better it was still enlarged. My surgeon and I agreed to do a revision, I'm scheduled for June 2nd. I'm being my two week liquid diet today. I'm anxious about the surgery but I did think long and hard about it and I know this is the right decision for me. I'm am back up to 240lbs. You have to make that decision for your self. Good luck

    Why Band to Sleeve?

I was also banded in 2009, my highest weight was 280lb. I got down to 200lbs and couldn't get past that, finally I did and I hovered around 195lbs. Two years ago I had bilateral knee replacements and was out from work for the whole summer, during that time I did regular daily walks and ate three meals a day. I came down to 185lbs, my goal weight was 170lbs. Last year I started getting a burning sensation in my esophagus and chest, my surgeon ordered an upper GI study And found that I had a stricter making my esophagus work harder and causing it to become inflamed. He took some fluid out and thing calmed down. I had another GI study this year because of still having some pain and I was gaining weight. My esophagus was better but still inflamed. I also have the problem if grazing at work due to my demanding job and work hours, 3pm-12a. My surgeon wasn't doing sleeves back then just bands and gastric bypasses. So my surgeon and I decided to do a revision, I would have had it first if it was available. I'm excited and terrified about the surgery, but I am up to 240lbs and am not happy. I know I have to work at this and I am ready. My surgery is in two weeks. Stating my liquid diet tomorrow.

    Who Are You?

I am fifty years old, mother of a 32yr old married son, who has 3 daughters and one son. I had always been a skinny kid so as a result of swing shifts, meds and other issues I at 44yrs old was 280lbs. I couldn't walk well, my knee were bad then became worst from the weight. In 2009 i had lap-band surgery. i did well at first, but my evening working hours made it easy for me to eat non stop, OH my job is very stressful. At one point I could not get below 200lb. finally I did, my lowest weight was 185lbs that was two summers ago. I had my bilateral knee surgery then. I notice last Feb. that I had been having problems with burning in my chest while I was eating. My doctor order a upper GI test which showed esophageal inflammation which left a bad restriction, causing my esophagus to work harder. My doctor took out some Fluid and all was well no pain, throwing up and discomfort. This year I had another upper GI problem better but still there and now I have gain weight. I am 238lb in the wrong direction!!!!. So my doctor and I decided to do revision surgery from band to gastric sleeve. I will work harder at this, now that my back is killing me and I just found out that i have RA.

    Vegetarian Sleevers?

I didn't have a problem before, but i know my Protein needs will be more now. i feel that I will not have a an issue with protein. you will be fine, there are many sources of non meat protein. Good Luck - my surgery date is June 2
  23. i am a band to sleeve june 2nd . hopefully no problems.
  24. Hi, I too was banded in January 2009. Did well at first then i plateaued @ about 205. I could not get below 200 for months. then i finally came down below 200lbs. I always had problems with certain foods, vomiting, hicuping and needing soda the push the air out so i can eat. About 18months ago I had bilateral knee replacements and I ate 3meals and 2 Snacks while i was rehabing, i was as low as 185lbs. last year I had to get a upper gi because i was having pain in my chest and burning in my esophgus most times i eat. Doctor found that my band was very restrictive and causing my esophgus to work harded and swell. Fluid was removed and i felt better but still did not fell full, causing me to eat more then I should. I had anoth GI study last month, which was better, but my esophgus is still a little swollen. I asked my doctor for a revision, found out this week I was aproved and my surgery is June 2nd band to gastric sleeve. I am now 238lb, 7lbs more the last week
