  1. I'd love to go to a conference, but I'll wait for one closer. Also, more warning would be a good thing. In these hard economic times, spending several hundred dollars or more requires saving up. Other conferences give up to a year or more notice so if one appears on the schedule that is conveniently --or enticingly-- placed, attendees can start putting money aside.

  2. I discovered sauteed turnips on my own after a culinary mistake turned into a happy occasion. Love the turnips! They also seem to pick up a little of the flavor of the fat they're cooked in, so bacon grease is just divine.

What's more, my family can turn their noses up at the turnips and leave me with the delicious pan full all to myself. I divide it up into 1/2 cup servings and have them for lunches or as sides. They reheat in the microwave very well.

  3. Whoops. (Brainless newbie moment)

I've not been banded yet. My doctors are Drs. Cywes and Baptista at the Jacksonville Weight Loss Center. I've made my appointments with the nutritionist, fitness trainer, labs for bloodwork, imaging center for x-ray and EKG, and my appointment with the shrink is next month.

I'm not sure what the Introduction thing wants me to say about websites and such. I started a blog called the Fat Frog Diary (http://fatfrogdiary.blogspot.com) Be warned. I don't censor my language and I can get rather pithy. What can I say? I'm a professional writer. Polite and bland words were expunged from my vocabulary by my editors years ago.

I started the blog way back in May when I decided to go for lap-band surgery. I'm pleased to say that my PCP was with me all the way from the moment I told her I wanted to do this, bless her.

Well, I think I'll toddle off to the Pre-op forum now.

  4. No one is stupid. I have my first appt in their office on the 29th. I live in Melbourne but have to travel to Jax for a qualified doc.

Okay, cool. Their office is pretty easy to find. I've already had the meeting etc. I'm at the getting poked, prodded, lectured, and head-shrinking part. (grin) If I say anything more about the doc's, I'd much prefer to take this conversation private.
