  1. productive burp( like vomiting except without the stomach bile)

Sliming is kind of the same thing, but its mostly mucus.

Oh. Okay, then! And here I've been calling it all just barfing. (giggle) Who knew there were different kinds!

  2. (snipped)WRONG AGAIN! After a couple of minutes of being very uncomfortable, it all comes back up. So that was my first time for that. This will sound weird, but I was a little happy about it, cuz it means my band must have tightened up a little. A couple hours later I had some yogurt. No problem. Tonight, I try to have a toasted sandwich, and after a couple bites.... Stuck again!

I haven't been able to do anything but the softest of breads and starches like grits. My one attempt to have bread of any kind (a biscuit) had the same results as yours. Massive discomfort, and that was before I got my fill.

Nuh-uh, not this lil' mammal! I'm swearing off the breads now. I'm scared down to my toes of what that biscuit would do now. No thanks.

I'm even a teensy bit uncomfortable right now 'cause of a late night snack of string cheese.

    I wubs my band!

  3. Like most of y'all, I can't eat much bread or starches. Toast would be out of the question. I can have maybe 1/4 cup of grits if I eat it very, very slowly. Then all that starch sits like a lead balloon just above my band. Blech! Not worth it for me.

    Breakfast:

2 cups of coffee with 2 T each SF liquid Creamer

2 deviled eggs, eaten at my desk over the next two hours

    Lunch:

1/4 lb ground beef patty, served with a deglazing sauce.

1 slice of cheese like pepper jack or colby

    16 oz Crystal Light

    Dinner:

3-4 oz Cornish game hen, roasted (I gave the rest to my roomie.)

    Dessert: 1 oz diet cheesecake

    Late Night Snack:

    1 pc. string cheese

1 cup Decaf coffee with 2 T SF liquid creamer

I'd planned a spinach salad to go with the hen for dinner, but I couldn't bear to even make myself a bowl, I was so full.

  4. I knew it was coming. I knew I hadn’t lost any weight, or not nearly enough to be pleasing to myself. Sure enough, I’d lost a mere 5 pounds in the past six weeks. Despite the reassurances of the nurse taking my weight that almost everyone had the same difficulties due to the weather being so cold, I knew I could do better. My appetite had been on the increase, and consequently, my caloric intake on my FitDay.com report showed a gradual increase.

So, I went in today for my visit, determined to have maybe a couple of cc’s just to nip that trend toward weight gain in the bud. Nope! Once these pounds come off, they are not going back on by golly! See ya! Buh-bye!

I’d only lost 5 pounds, but about 4.9 of those pounds was pure fat! Now, that’s a reason to Celebrate. I might have lost more, but Dr. Baptista’s nifty machine said I had Water weight issues. Yes, I did, mostly in a swollen left ankle from doing too much this past weekend. Told ya it was a nifty machine.

Finally, that incredibly handsome doctor with the soulful brown eyes and the talented hands (Get your minds out of the gutter! I’m talking about his surgical skills, thank you!) appeared. He seemed to agree that I needed a nudge toward the sweet spot. Thoughtful man that he is, he also remembered I’m needle phobic. He took the time to reassure me while swabbing my port area with alcohol.

It was somewhat painful, but more weird than uncomfortable. I hate needles. I am a certified needle phobic with a tendency to faint when shown a hypodermic, much less have one coming at me. Sure, it stung. I expected that. I didn’t expect the second stab of pain when he found the port. I think he used a butterfly or something. My tits were in the way, and I have the good sense not to look down in case I do see a needle. (wry grin) Whew! No matter what, I was glad that part was over. Yes, I’d do it again, if necessary. I knew that immediately. It wasn’t THAT bad.

He put some saline in. I was okay with it, and I could feel the change in pressure a bit. That was cool. Then doc had me drink some Water and tell him when I felt “full” and when I felt the water go away. I never really felt full, and never really felt it go away. He said I needed more restriction. By the time I drank close to 16 oz of liquid, I had a whopping 4 cc’s in the band. Apparently, I needed more restriction than I’d guessed and that explained why I hadn’t lost. All my loss up to now had been low carb diet and habitual dieting, not a restriction. What a shame. I really thought I’d been close to my Sweet Spot. Oh, well. If millions of others can fiddle with their band until they find bliss, so can I.

Well, I’m on liquids for the next couple of days. Fine by me. I’ll pop by Wal-Mart and get some more Meal Replacement shakes. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when I’m allowed solids again. I don't feel anything much when I drink a Meal Replacement shake, but I'm burping like an adolescent boy with a carbonated soda.

  5. Dont be !! You have lost a lot more than I have and without a fill. Today I dont seem to be as hungry and I have noticed a diff in the amount I eat. I will go back in 2 or 3 weeks for another if I feel I need one. Hope you are well and have a awesome weekend!

It's possible I do need one, but only a couple of cc's. I've noticed a slight tendency to eat more in the past week, and my weight loss has once again plateau'd.

  6. When I go for my next appointment on Monday March 9, I'm going to ask for a small fill --just a couple of cc's. I really don't feel like I need much, but I've noted a small calorie gain overall on my food log at fitday.com. It's very gradual, but it's there nonetheless.

IMHO, it's better to have a small fill and stave off any possible problems now than have another serious plateau or worse, gain weight. I've not had much weight loss this month, so perhaps it's time for me to be more stern with my body. A few days of liquids and mushies won't kill anything.

  7. Hi Lena,

Glad to see you are doing so well:thumbup::thumbup:

    Hey, Max!

I'm about to drown in my work, but physically doing well. LOL!

What I wouldn't do for a quiet bungalow on some South Sea Isle, with no phones and no one beating on my door.

    Lena

  8. I think at this time of our journy we are our weight is going up and down. I know mine is. I go down two and up one or two and then back down. I have been doing this for two weeks... Just keep your eyes on the prise.....You can do it. And I am saying this for myself as well.

My eyes are on the prize, that's for sure. It's been grand so far! I'll include a link to a picture of me wearing a historical costume for a Scottish Festival this past weekend. We had to alter the costume twice, and it still ended up too big! I kept losing weight. LOL! Re-sewing those darn pearls down was a nightmare.

    http://i516.photobucket.com/albums/u323/voiceomt2002/Costumes%20and%20Crafts/HPIM0967.jpg

I was good at the Festival, though. Despite a terrible longing, I avoided the Sally Lunn cakes, scones, and other Scottish treats in favor of 1/2 of a Scottish Egg. (sigh)

  9. I'm up and down like a yo-yo on my food log. One day, I'm a good girl and eat less than 30g of carbs, below 1000 calories, and I'm a happy camper.

The next day, some idiot who doesn't understand the problems of a bandster shoves something under my nose, and I go for it like a shark after a seal. I know it's my choice, but darn it, it's hard to resist a wheedling friend begging, "..just a teensy piece of this cake I baked myself. Won't you try just a little bit, Lena? Just this once..." (I'm beginning to hate that phrase, Just This Once.)

However, this weekend I can blame only on myself. Yep, there's nothing so joyous as eating too quickly and finding yourself yakking up your lunch under the bleachers at a festival. What I ate was a good thing, I just ate too quickly and didn't chew well. Makes a great impression on passersby.

I'm still losing weight, but it's coming off very slowly now. I'm eating the right amounts of mostly the right foods, but once in awhile there's an "oops."

Sigh! And then last night Dante and I were too tired to cook. We stopped at the grocery store and bought a pre-made beef roast au jus. Just heat and eat. Delicious, nutritious, and within my carb count. I was so proud of myself when I filled out that entry in my food log.

Until about an hour later when the itching began. I'm allergic to nuts. Nothing on the package said anything about nuts, but the signs are unmistakable. I've got a case of Franken-hives, which incidentally is also on top of the sunburn I earned over the weekend.

Hint: Don't scratch a sunburn, no matter how bad your hives are! (whimper!)

Thank goodness the Benadryl pills pass my stoma without so much as a squeak.

  10. Well, it seems I'm just talking to myself here!?

The actual fill was painful. Doc stuck the needle right through my scar tissue and missed. He got it on the second try and it hurt both times. after he filled me, he pulled it out rather quickly and that hurt too. But I'm tough! He said I'll need another one in 4-6 weeks. I made an appt for 6 weeks out on March 30th.

Well that's all I got I hope to hear from others. Lena, your fill is tomorrow? Peanutband too right?

I'm sorry I never saw this. I never got a fill. Doc says I don't need one.

    Lena

  11. Went in for another check up and to set up a fill. I have lost

14Lbs since my last check up on Feb 5. I was thankful that the doctor decided to hold off on a fill. I go in for another check up in two weeks. I am pleasantly surprised about not needing a fill, but still losing wait. I am down 42Lbs since starting the pre opt diet. Only 17Lbs away from the 300Lbs mark which is my first goal. Has any other Jan bandster gone in and not needed a fill yet? Good luck to all.

I didn't need a fill when I went in, and I'm fairly sure I still don't need one when I see the doc on the 9th. I still have a restriction, and I'm still losing weight at about 1-3 pounds a week. Doc said some folks never need a fill. He's content as long as I lose somewhere between 4-9 pounds a month. I can live with that as a goal. (grin)

  12. 1. I'd like to be in the 230 lb range by the end of March. I don't care where in that range, as long as it's below 239. (That's 5 pounds from now, so it's reasonable.) I'm hoping to be at 230 or less, but that's pushing.

    2. This is a more difficult goal, but I'd like to be below 200 lbs by the end of June. That's my birthday, and I'll be turning the big 5-OH.

I could be at goal by next Christmas. Now that would be a real miracle to Celebrate.

  13. Lena--do you have a recipe for the egg-sausage casserole muffin?? sounds yummy!

Yep! I have a blog where I post a lot of healthy bandster recipes: Fat Frog Diary.

Here you go! Great for when you're late. Microwave on medium about 1 minute or so. You can change out the meat and/or veggie to make use of leftovers in the fridge.

    Sausage-and-cheese Breakfast Cups (Phase 1)

    Makes 6 servings

    Description

These egg "muffins" make a hearty Breakfast that can be eaten on the run. Make them ahead and warm them in the microwave for a fast and slimming breakfast treat.

    Ingredients

4 ounces turkey sausage or crumbled turkey bacon

    1/2 green bell pepper, chopped

    1/4 onion, chopped

    5 large eggs

1 can (12 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained

1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese

    Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 6-cup nonstick muffin pan with cooking spray or line with paper baking cups.

In a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage, pepper, and onion for 5 minutes, or until the sausage is no longer pink. Spoon the mixture into a bowl and cool slightly. Stir in the eggs and mushrooms. Evenly divide the mixture among the prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle with the cheese.

Bake for 20 minutes, or until the egg is set.

  14. Ok! I got my first fill tonight. It did not hurt at all. I think I have a little restruction but really don't know as of yet. I am only allow liquids for tonight. Tomorrow I move on to soft foods and by Saturday is the real test because I will be back on all foods again. I am right on with my weight for my lost of 30 lbs. Which I need to change my tacker. I will change it real soon. I am so happy, I got my fill for I was eating more than I should have been. Maybe now the scale will move again. We will see.

Hooray for you, Peanut! I know it's silly, but I'm a little envious of y'all that get fills. You're "adjustable" and I'm stuck. (pout)

    Lena

  15. Yep, plateau'd for about a week and a half before the scale moved again. Totally freaked me out. Part of it was my fault. I made some bad food choices and stopped doing a food journal. Apparently, I need the journal.

Someone on my blog (I'm too tired to go look right now) recommended an online journal. I chose fitday.com, though the commercial for the program is getting annoying.

Between getting back on the wagon with good food choices and being concious of my trigger situations, I've lost two more pounds. (Hope they stay lost!)

Guess I just can't get complacent.

    Lena

  16. I was on that plateau for at least two weeks, and it's been murder on the old self-esteem. However, I knew part of it was my own fault. I have no willpower, and a few tasty high-carb items were dangled in front of me by the usual suspects --my family of saboteurs. I went for the treats like a shark after seals. (sigh)

I've since started losing again, but it's not easy to get back on the wagon. I know I don't need a fill. I'm still only eating a little bit at a time, and I pay dearly if I eat too fast or big chunks. It's what I put in my mouth that counts, not how much.

    Today was a good day:

    B: 1 egg-sausage casserole "muffin"

    2 coffee with SF creamer

    L: 1/2 c whipped turnip deluxe

    S: 2 string cheese

    D: 1 c. green chili

    1 banana

The only thing naughty was the banana. Oh, well. It's better than my grandchildren insisting I share their Valentine's Day fudge. (sigh)
