Some people, I swear...
Whew! I have just read every post in this thread. It seems this thread was created to discuss another member of the forum. While you have every right not to like a person and to debate the person, it is NOT allowable to post personal attacks. It now appears that the bad feelings are spreading between other members. So, look over the rules if you need a refresher, let's agree to disagree, and maybe this thread will/can die a natural death. Please?

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...
Thank you for your explanation. I'm sure the members of the forum would enjoy hearing more from you and having your input on other threads as well as this one.

BP too high for clearance
First of all, ALL salt acts the same so eliminate it. If you take a statin for high cholesterol, grapefruit might be contra-inidcated. Limiting fluids can actually cause B/P to be higher so drink water. Eliminate caffeine and products that contain caffeine. Don't eat ANY processed foods or snack foods. Stick to fresh fruit and veggies. Exercise LOWERS your blood pressure so take a brisk walk about 30 minutes before your apt. and then do the relaxation things others mentioned.

learning to do fills
You could also ask the people who do the fills in England how THEY became certified and what the qualifications are.

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...
Perhaps the reason for NOT posting the entire story is that the story will have an end and that's NOT what this person wants?

newbe need more info
Welcome. Call your insurance carrier and ask for a written list of what they require to pay for weight loss surgery. That's the best first step to take.

Scheduled for May
Welcome. You'll be given shakes that will provide the essential nutrients you need. If you find you're getting too hungry, call your surgeon's office and ask to speak with a health care professional. They will usually give you an additional one or two foods to tide you over.

Tax Day Banded and feeling weird...
Welcome and congratulations on being banded. Your symptoms are very normal. I didn't feel "human" again until about 9-10 days post-op. Read over the different sections for new people and a lot of your questions will be answered.

Would It Kill Me....
Your post stated that you started your pureed foods early and that you suffered no ill effects. You did not mention in that post that you were actually late in advancing your diet as determined my your surgeon. Please do NOT take the advice others offer in this forum or any other over your surgeon's advice. I am happy to know you did not do that. It's nice to share expereinces but we advocate not ignoring your surgeon's advice because it differs from what most of the others practice. I hope that clarifies things a bit.

Would It Kill Me....
I don't understand why people take it upon themselves to "test the waters" and then declare they haven't suffered any harm. IF you can't tolerate the prescribed diet, all you need to do is pick up the phone and tell the office person that you NEED to SPEAK with someone about a medical question. Explain to the person who gets on the phone or calls you back that you CAN'T stick to the diet. They will almost always allow you to consume one or two additional foods to get you past the problem. Why risk your health and possible complications down the road when all it takes is a phone call?

Any Long Islanders?
You'll only see an MD twice after surgery. The first time is 7-10 days post-op when they check to make sure you're healing OK. The next time is for the first fill. After that, you'll ONLY see a PA.

Gastric Sleeve talk.
You don't need to apologize. I asked because sometimes people advertise and that's against the rules. The sleeve is a relatively new procedure that a lot of people are just hearing about. Some of the members of this forum have had it done and it's always good to start a new thread where people with common interests can discuss and debate and share.

All you people do is complain...
There are many ways to measure what is healthy and it's often best to evaluate several different methods and then average them. That said, it's equally important to know what healthy is and I applaud your willingness to strive towards that. I bet we all know people who have a BMI of less than 25 and live on a diet of processed foods and junk food. Are they healthy? They may or might not be. I am often shocked when I get blood results back on a patient I think is the picture of health and then find they have high LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, an elevated Hgb A1C (prone to diabetes or diabetic), a dangerously high B/P, etc. The people who have achieved their weight loss goals are the ones that I look up to and learn from. I'd like to see an end to the negativism and a return to supportive posts. Debate is healthy but when it turns evil, it's time to step back and refocus.

All you people do is complain...
Perhaps people need to realize that BMI is only ONE gauge of obesity. Here is another way of determining healthy vs unhealthy weight. If anyone needs to know what is, and what is not, acceptable content for posting, please refer to the rules. Bye-bye BMI? Better way to measure obesity - Fitness - MSNBC.com
