    days off work

I also was banded on Tuesday, and returned to Monday (today). I couldn't stay the whole day. I got tired, and started to hurt. Also in places that hadn't hurt before. I came home early afternoon, took drugs, and slept for 3 hours:notagree . I just got up and feel pretty good now. I'll try it again tomorrow.

    days off work

Murphles Sounds very realistic, depending on what you do. I was banded lasted Tuesday, and going back to work on Monday (I'm a desk jockey). My doc said absolutely! I could go back to work on Monday. I am ready to return tomorrow, however, if I get too tired, I may leave a little early.
  3. To me, it sounds like this man cares for you a great deal and doesn't want to see you hurting or regretting. He may also be giving you an "out." My husband would have preferred that I didn't have surgery, but it was my decision and he is supporting me 100%. Yes, you have lost weight before, etc and yes, you could do it again. But you probably felt deprived and hungry. The "diet" will end someday, and we know the chances of weight returning and bringing some friends with it. It's nice that he would help you, that you could do it together, but bottom line it that it is you doing it. With the band, you won't feel deprived and there will probably be only a few things that you will not be able to eat. You will discover them for yourself. You WILL make better choices because you have a little bitty pouch standing guard. The band will help you not eat so much and therefore will only eat the best thing on the menu :biggrin1: and have leftovers for the next two days!! BTW - I was banded 5 days ago, so I have been eating only liquids. Those liquids include some really good creamy Soups and yogurt smoothies. I can eat about 1/2 cup at a time and I am full. I certainly don't feel deprived and am comforted to know that this time, the "diet" will work. Good luck with your decision

    Bowel Movements

Thanks, Marsaille I am feeling pretty good now. I'm drinking all kinds of liquids. I can't believe how full I get on so little (1/3 of a yogurt smoothie is plenty!)

    Bowel Movements

You'd think one dose of Milk of Magnesia would do it. I was banded 5 days ago and no BM. Yesterday, I thought it was time to get things moving. Took 2 TBS of M of M and ... nothing. I am passing a lot of gas, but I don't feel constipated or uncomfortable. I'll try again tonight.

    May 2006 Band Crew

Seminole We were banded the same day. I blended chicken noodle soup and it went down well. I've also bought some Trader Joe's soups (in a box) that are creamy and am having no trouble. I have added a little butter and milk to mashed potatoes and that was wonderful! I don't see why clam chowder or any soup wouldn't work, but do watch out for chunks that didn't blend well. They might cause you some grief. If the soup is too thick, thin it with a bit of milk.

    Well, I did it

Welcome to Bandland! Since you got banded in May, have you visited the May 2006 Band Crew thread? Everyone there was or is going to be banded in May. We have a lot of the same concerns and experiences. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16512

    Help Help Help!

I second P-Nut's advise. That does not sound right. Call your dr. immediately.
  10. For those of you that have lost a lot of weight - are you taller now? Are your shoes smaller? A couple of years ago, a co-worker had gastric bypass. After she lost a lot of weight, she said she had to get all new shoes (poor baby), and she gained an inch in height. :clap2: :clap2:

    Cat Freaks-Is she preggers?

The gestation is around 60 days. I seem to remember that the nipples got swollen but there was no milk until birth. A phone call to a vet might give you more information. If she is pregnant, you might want to feed her a high calorie food. It takes an amazing amount of energy to grow and feed a litter of kittens. If she is pregnant, be sure that she is provided a safe birthing place. A roomy cardboard box and some towels would do. Cats like secretive dark cozy places. I would keep putting her into your "chosen" place, but she may have other ideas anyway. I remember one of the inside cats (a first-time mother) waking me up when it was time and making me come downstairs to stay with her. Sooo cute. Keep us posted.

    May 2006 Band Crew

Trip2bme I was banded on the 9th. I have felt the swelling and uncomfortable feeling at my band after sipping anything, but I'm not really worried about it. I think everything is just still swollen and tender. I am on full liquids which to me is anything I could suck through a straw. That means thinned and blended soups. I do feel full after about 1/2 cup of soup, but it sure tastes good.
  13. Banded 5/9. Today is 5/10. My stitches are starting to itch. Yesterday, I removed my wrist band. I forgot to remove it when I got to the car. I didn't think I was allergic to anything, but my whole hand above where the band was is all red and itchy. I've been using cortisone but still red. Belly is still hurting. Yea! For drugs.

    Cat Freaks-Is she preggers?

I also think a trip to the vet would be a good idea, Since she was a stray, you want to know she isn't bringing something gross like worms, fleas, ringworm, etc., into your home (all treatable, by the way). Also, you might want to get her vaccinated.
  15. Congratulations!! :nanahump: :Banane41: :clap2: :clap2:

    Where's your port?

I was told during info seminar that "this is where the dr. places it." I was very concerned about the placement for leaning over, waistbands, etc. I contacted the surgery center and was told the the doc would put it wherever I wanted if it was possible. It never occurred to me to talk to him about it. Sooo, if you have preferences, talk to the Dr. when he chats with you just before you go to the OR. Mine ended up about 4" above my belly button and about 2-1/4 inches to the right (my right.) I'm happy with it.

    Cat Freaks-Is she preggers?

She might just be getting plump from food. If she will let you put your hand on her stomach (side), you may be able to feel babies moving - just like people. When I lived in the country, lots of our cats had kittens and that is how I could tell.

    I'm so confused

Valerie That must be a big relief to you. We know there is always a risk for any surgery. That's why they make us sign papers saying we understand that. However, it is pretty slim that anything bad will happen to YOU! You have a pretty big risk by holding on to your weight, too. I think someone suggested asking the anesthesiologist to heavily sedate you before you go into the OR. If you are very nervous, that sounds like a good idea. I was fine with it. I actually walked into the OR with the nurse holding the IV drip. It actually gave me comfort because the message it sent to me was that there is no reason to be frightened.

    Getting Nervous!

Marcy I have been keeping a journal of my lapband adventure. Someone on another list was wondering about our experiences on surgery day since she had never had one before. Maybe you would like to read mine. Read entry #7 http://lapbandtalk.com/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=131

    Washed my hair.

This is day three. Supposed to be the day to get over and then everything will better, or at least getting better. I've left clear liquids behind now, and am sipping on creamed soups, milk and yogurt drinks. I pureed chicken soup and it tasted sooo good. I'm only putting about 1/2 cup at a time in my tummy. The last things I want to is to burb, PB or otherwise. I took pain meds this afternoon but that's it. Probably have another dose before bed tonight. I felt up to making DH a meat loaf for dinner. It's not cooked yet; he can to that when he comes home. While I did take a shower yesterday, and it felt good, today I actually washed my hair :faint: . I guess I thought it would hurt too much to have my hands over my head, but everything went well, and I'm pleased. Not much in the way of style at the moment, but hey! It's clean! I managed to throw a couple of loads of laundry in the washer/dryer, but DH can fold them when he comes home.

It's been two days, now. Seems longer. I just started on real liquids today. I had a yogurt smoothie, and blended a can of chicken soup. Ate 1/4 cup and feel pretty good. I'm just drinking lots of water right now. My tummy is still a bit sore but I don't feel hungry. The newest experience was being very gassy during the night. Oh, yeah! I actually could sleep on my side.:notagree

    Itchey stitches and a rash

Sue - No, I 'm not taking anything other than pain meds and Lipitor. I actually think I'm doing pretty well. The only surpise was the rash on my hand. It's improving, though.
