  1. It has been a long time sense I have done a post. Things are so very busy. I have not lost anything. For I have gain everything I lost. The reason is I am pregnant with TWINS. I am due in December. Once the babies come I will get back on the wagon again. I am hoping that I will loose all the weight I have gain. But we will see. Now for the questions:

Just curious as to how all of you have been doing since ur surgery in January?

I am doing great. I love life right now. I could not be happier.

Are you happy about your band?

I LOVE my band. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Thank you LAP-BAND® and DR.Moran!

How do you love bandster life?

It was the best decision I have ever made for my life. I would do it over in a heartbeat. I just wished I have done it much sooner in my life but at least I did get it done.

How close are you to your goal?

I don't think I will be getting anywhere near my goal by my 1 year bandiversary! But maybe next year I will.

    Do you exercise everyday?

No, not really for I am always to tired...

    Do you PB alot?

Nope not at this time. I had my band drained to make more room for the babies. They must come first.

  2. Hi hun....well all I can tell you is from my own personal experience, so of course it will be totally different than your own.

I had the band put in Feb. 12 '08 and I got pregnant July 4th. My daughter was born April 6th and is now 7 weeks old. Like you, we weren't preventing but we weren't really trying either. I never had my fill taken out but unfortunately I was able to eat pretty much like normal (normal as in not having the band...not normal as in what we should be eating) but just in smaller portions. I ended up gaining about 45 lbs total but 30 lbs of that was pure Fluid towards the end of my pregnancy (which I lost within 2 weeks of having her). So really, I guess you could say that I only gained 15lbs of fat (which is pretty good overall--or so I keep telling myself:tt2:).

Looking back though, I wish I had been more careful about the chances of getting pregnant b/c being overweight and pregnant just ain't all that fun..LOL Seriously though, my band was never an issue during pregnancy. I think it actually helped me from not gaining more "weight" (not fluid) than I did. But you might be completely different and have to have your fill taken out. It really all depends on how your body will do with pregnancy.

I'm not SOOOOO ready to get back on track and FINALLY LOSE ALL THIS NASTY WEIGHT ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!! I swore that I will NOT be overweight with my next pregnancy b/c I would like to actually have a baby belly!! LOL Good Luck to you and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Beach Bum what part of NC are you from....I am in the Raleigh Area. Who is your doctor. I have Dr. Moran.

  3. Tina I would like to say to you Congrats! Now to get on with my message. You and I are the same. I too am newly banded and two weeks ago I found out that I am pregnant also. I am about 6 weeks and two day along. I am much older than you and I too thought I had PCOS still so we weren't stopping anything from happening. When I told my doctor about this he just told me oh well Shit happens, that is how he ended up with six, then he just laughed. He also told me that I will be just fine with the band and this should help me and you not to gain a lot of extra weight that we don't need. The band will help us control the portions. Just remember this and this came from my OB doctor, the baby is going to get the food that they need first. I had my ultrasound last tuesday and found out that I am having twins. My due date is on Jan. 14th, so I would think yours is about the same time mine is. We gotta stay in touch with each other for we were banded about the same time and now PG and due the about the same time. Best of luck.

  4. Congratulations Peanut, it is very exciting!! Is this your first baby? My hubby was born when his mom was 45 so don't worry - everything will be fine. Woman who have babies later in life seem to be much more relaxed with parenting. I think it's great. I only gained 22 lbs. with my pregnancy and had a 9 lb. baby so you don't have to gain a lot - I did Water aerobics and walked 5 miles a day during my pg. and that helps to keep the weight off. You can still eat well. As my dietician told me, "white carbs are not a required part of any diet" so you can provide all you need for your baby with Protein, milk products, veggies and fruit. Keep us posted on your progress. When are you due? Again, congratulations, such exciting news. Linda

Thank you to everyone. I am going to need all the prayers to make sure the baby is healthy always. I am due on 1/1/2010. This would have been my one year anniversity with the band. So I will be celebrating something new altogether. I will be watching my diet and continuing my excerise program just not as much. Thank you so much Linda for the wonderful news to help me to relax. Thank you all. I will try not to worry and keep my head up that this will be healthy for I am healthier than ever.

  5. Congratulations to everyone who is newly expecting. I also have a big distance between mine in that my son is 17 and my daughter will happen along in a few weeks :0)

Banding has been such a wonderful gift for me . . . I lost the weight and gained a daughter.

I geuss we are the same. Loss the weight which not much only 50 lbs because newly banded. And gain the baby. I found out today that I am seven weeks along and not 5 to 6 as I thought. Boy that is a bid difference. Congrats to all.

  6. Hello there, my name is Tracey and I am 44 [turning 45 this year] and unexpectedly expecting....lol. What a lovely surprise this was, as we had always wanted more, but it just never happened.

Once we had all the tests done in the early stages [CVS, 4D Scans etc] and all was well, then I really started to relax and enjoy the experience. I am very happy and feel blessed to be given this opportunity to bring another child into the world.

My husband and I have three other daughters, with the birth of this child, I will have had a child every decade of my fertile life. I had my other children at 19, 21 and 31. They are 26, 24 and 14 and wonderful young women whose company I love.

I am due on the 24th of September this year, but my OB is insisting on a caesarean delivery so I will probably go in for that around the 17th of September. [date isn't set yet because I kept pushing for the chance to have a vaginal delivery]

I was lapbanded on November 7th last year [2008] and had my first and only fill in December. By the second week in January I could only manage thin liquids, so I knew something was wrong and went back to my surgeon to have some fill taken out.

I only had 3ml in, so she was a bit bemused by the whole thing, she took out 1ml, but it made no difference, she then removed another mil, but again, no difference. She took out the remaining mil, and I could manage soft food again. Woohoo!!!

About three weeks after that, we found out I was pregnant and it became clear...lol.

Anyway, I haven't been able to eat much, due to my stomach swelling around the band and giving me HUGE restriction, even though the band is not inflated at all. I have actually lost weight while I have been pregnant, which worried me at first, but because I have had fortnightly scans and blood tests, the doctor had continually reassured me that all is well.

I make sure I eat as balanced a diet as possible and have been on Elevit from the day I found out I was pregnant. I am now 19 weeks and the baby is 18cms and weighs 280gms [approx of course] according to my morphology scan last Monday.

I have lost 22kgs since my WLS in November last year.

You can read my entire story on my blog at Time to downsize. if you are interested. Drop by and say hi.

Boy the timing of this post is great! I would like to thank you for posting this here for me to find. I too just newly banded and found out I am pregnant as well. I was banded on January 8th, 2009. I am thinking I am about 5 to 6 weeks along. I am also 46 years of age. So now you now why I am thanking you for this. I am so worried and scard for I just started this weight loss program and afraid that I will gain the weight back and I don't want to do that if you know what I mean. You have given me so much hope. Again Thank you.

  7. Wow, now that's news! I had my last child at 46 (#7)! so happy we had her, she is so beautiful and so healthy. Jacob is turning 6 at the end of month, had him at 42 yrs old. YOU will do fine, take good care and God Bless ya...congrats to you and your husband.

I thought I am to old. Did you have any problems with your age? I am just so confused but yet happy too. I would love to hear more from you on this. I am so scard.

I would also like to say thank you to all of you and given me the support on this. I was so worried because my doctor really did not want this to happen so fast but he said to me that is how he had six, you know s--t happens sometimes. And that was he exact words to after he laughed and give me a big huge.

  8. Well I have some news....I am going to have a baby, after the lapband and losing about 50lbs. My body decided that I need a baby......Oh boy! Here I am at 46 and starting my life all over with a small little one. My DH is so happy that we are going to have a bundle of joy. I talked my to doctor about this and my weight loss program and what is it doing to do with the issue, he said we will start at the beginning after the baby is born and I should not gain a lot of weight back. I will gain some but not a lot if I watch what I eat.

  9. I was out today shopping for a new dress for a wedding. I went into Macy's and was looking at some dress when I see a dress I really like a lot. The colors where great looking on me but here is the biggest news that I just gotta tell some one. I tried on a 20 thinking this was the size I was in but nope so I went down to an 18 and this one was too big as well. So my mom got the same dress in an 16 and it fit! I just could not believe that a 16 actually fit me. I was so happy that I started to dance right in the dressing room. I have not seen this size since my youngest daughter was born in 1986. Yep that is right 1986 over 20 years ago. :tt2: I just had to tell someone else besides my mom and DH. He also said I am looking so good and keep it up.

  10. My fills are going just fine as well. I have gotten three fills so far and on the last time I too was great for one week and then nothing. I go back next week for fill number four. I think I am up to like 6cc now in a size 12 band. I have not had any trouble with any of my fills so far. I hope this continues and maybe have more restricion then just the one week.

  11. Wow! You guys are amazing. I have a NSV also. That is my wedding rings are to big also. Plus I am now wearing smaller clothes, I was wearing a size 24 and now I am at an 18 and they are getting big on me now. I am looking at going to an 16 soon. Keep it up January Hotties, we are doing great. Oh yea I almost forgot one thing. My Doctor told me that I am no longer need any more medicines for my sugar. That was the greatest news I had so far.

  12. I too was worried about if this would fail me too. But it isn't so far. I feel real good, just like I did before. I am getting my third full in two weeks also. I have lost about 40 lbs now. No where near my first goal of being in onederland like you but one day I will get there, I hope. I have not updated my ticker as of yet but will soon.

  13. I was banded January 16th and had my second fill last Thursday. My first fill was 3ccs (I have a 10cc band) and I had no problems at all. It was weird having restriction and feeling that things felt stuck if I ate too fast or the wrong foods. Last week (my second fill) I got 1.5ccs more and was totally stupid, didn't listen to the dr and ate a few hours later. I threw up like crazy. That night it was hard for me to even keep Water down. I've been good since then, but I will NEVER not listen to the dr again! My restriction is awesome- I can hardly eat 1/2 cup of food and I'm losing weight at a good rate. The only thing that hurts with my fills is the numbing agent the Dr gives before he does my fill... and that just fells like a little prick!

    Good luck!

I am have the same problem as you. If I eat to fast now I get this feel of food being stuck and start to hurt in the chest area. I also have some restriction becuse of this and only able to eat about 1/2 to 1 cup at a meal. I know I will need a little more in the band but I feel I am very close to that sweet spot. Keep it up everyone. We are all doing so well.

  14. Congrats Peanutband!! I have lost 34 in the same 9 weeks isn't it wonderful? I go in for my second fill on Monday. I am very excited about it. Oh and I hit 40 minutes on the elliptical machine yesterday!!! My wonderful daughter has been pushing me. God bless her! I'll report back after the second go round.

Way to Go GlenSand! I am very happy for you . I am still trying to get up to 20 minutes on my elliptical machine. If we all get this up we should be very skinny by our bandversity. :sneaky:

  15. I did it! I did it!

Talking on the phone works for me! I was on the bike 30 minutes! Woohoo!!

Okay, goal has changed. Let's see if I can make it 35 minutes by the end of March.

Okay, soon as my legs stop wobbling. LOL!

Congrats! I am so happy for you. Keep it up. I am now up to 12 minutes on the elipical but I have a way to go to get to 30 minutes on this machine. :w00t:

  16. I haven't been able to get on the bike much, but I've been keeping up as best I can. Still haven't made that 30 minute mark yet, but I did manage 27 before I pooped out. LOL! I'll keep trying.

You are doing great! You can do it. Just I can. I will keep the eye on the prize. :)

  17. I am doing well with my challenge. My trainer added more to what I do which is a challenge in it's self.

Now about the elliptical machine get that thought out of your head! You can do it!! When you are on the elliptical what do you do? Do you listen to music? Do you watch TV? In my gym I watch TV and I listen to music at the same time. It helps to keep my mind off of the time. Also some people actually cover the time on the machine so it's not in their face. Don't give up it will get easier. Congrats on getting to 10 minutes! Keep up the great work :) Like I mentioned earlier I added an extra minute every time I got on the machine. So that may help.

I do listen to music when I excerise so I won't watch the time. It is just hard when your legs gets very tired.
