Hi I am Julie, I guess I am the oldest of the bunch I am 50 years old, I have 2 wonderful daughters, Kim who is 26 with a beautiful 3 year old Jazmine and Crystal has 2 beautiful children Aiden is 3 and Kynidi just turned 1. They are the light of my life. My husband and I have been married for 14 years and been together 17. We met and got married in hawaii, we were both in the navy and stationed there for 12 years. I retired in 1999 but I am still working and my husband retired last year and he is working for the Sheriffs department. I never really struggled with weight until about 10 ears ago, after I retired I quit smoking and starting gaining weight and it just kept going up. I am decided to do this so I can play with my grandchildren like I did my own girls. I am tired of having to go to the extra large section in the store only to find ugly clothes. I want to look great for myself, and my family. This is going to be one amazing journey. I thank each of you for supporting everyone.

dr-justice since we were banded on the same day i was wondering if you are still sore, my stomach hurts where the port is, i burp all the time, i think i am drinking to much to fast, and it hurts sometimes.

fsexton54, i am so glad to hear someone else has 2 weeks liquids, then mushies, i was beginning to think i am a loner with this liquid thing. glad to hear everyone is doing good, i would be fine if i would quit burping so much.

when i went in for my preop i weighed 230 one week later the day of my surgery i weighed 213, i havent weighed since my banding of the 5th. I dont know how to put those tickles on here

Hello November bandsters, its me Julie, well I did it and its over thank god. I got banded Wed morning at 8:00. its funny I read all these different stories on what diets we have, I had to go on a 7 day liquid protein diet before and then once i got banded i didnt get anything for 24 hours, not even a sip of water, my mouth was so dry i thought it was going to crack but the nurse gave me a stick with liquid on it to wet my mouth, man that was great, anyways the next day around 10:30 they brought me broth and jello and pineapple juice, i drank the broth no problem and they let me come come around 12:00. I am on liquids again for 2 weeks, then soft 2 weeks then regular foods. I havent really been hungry, I know I havent been getting enough liquid so I will try harder tomorrow. I dont regret doing this I will just be glad when I am no longer sore. If anyone has any questions just ask. I will be checking upon the future bandsters.

hello, i was banded 2 days ago and stayed in the hospital overnight, yes they kept the iv in and overnight until i got rady to check out. i carried my own clothes to but stayed in the hospital gown all night. i wouldnt carry anything extra just what you wore in to the hospital will be fine.

jmegirl, dont freak out, we are going thru this together, we are going to do good, i am in 6 hours. I will let everyone know how it goes, I have to stay over night since I have sleep apnea, wished I could come home tomorrow but oh well, the doc knows why he wants me there i guess.

I am going to banded in about 6 hrs, when the hospital called me, they told me if i am on my period to not use a tampon to use a pad and if i start while i am being banded they will take care of me, they say it happens all the time.

Hello everyone, my name is Julie and I am 50. I have been married 14 years and have 3 children, 2 girls ages 26 and 24 and a stepson 17. I am retired Navy and i wasnt obese until I retired and quit smoking in 1999. I gained weight really quick and quit exercising, I have tried alot of diets and pills and nothing works, I lose and it comes back even more. I need help with keeping it off. I know this band and all of you here to support me and vice versa we are all going to do great. I am presently living in Gulfport, MS, we decided to retire here, my husband retired navy last year also. We have 3 dogs to, I am a dog lover. My date is the 5th and I am on day 5 of my liquids. I have been reading alot of the stages different people go thru before banding. I can only have 3 protein drinks a day and the rest clear liquids, i do this 1 week prior and 2 weeks after. What is some of the pre diets you are on? It just seems everyone is different. I am getting banded in New Orleans. I am happy and scared and not so much hungry but I am not going to lie I do wanna eat. Its really great to meet all of you.
