  1. My insurance requires a BMI of 40 or higher -- after a 6 month supervised diet, so I went private pay. I had my surgery with Dr. Rumbaut at a gorgeous new hospital in Monterrey, Mexico, and all went very well. Dr. Rumbaut has relationships with a number of doctors in NYC (where I live), so it was no trouble for me to arrange for my post-op care. I've been keeping a blog since just prior to my surgery -- feel free to check it out if you're interested! Catherine Banded: 10/23/08 Blog: Chronicles from Band Land
  2. I'm at the same point as you (though I'm 4 weeks out). I'm trying really hard to make good food choices and to keep it low calorie. I'm determined not to gain before I have my first fill 2 weeks from tomorrow. Hope that helps! Catherine Banded: 10/23/08 Blog: Chronicles from Band Land
  3. This is my first banded Thanksgiving. This year, I'm cooking dinner for my sister, a close friend and my little nephew, which should be a lot of fun. I'll finally be on real food (4+ weeks post-op!) by Thanksgiving, so I'm planning to have a little bit of everything & am hoping that will work out with my band. My first fill is 2 weeks later. What is everyone else doing about food this Thanksgiving? Other than gobble-gobbling, of course! Catherine Banded: 10/23/08 225.7/217/155 Blog: Chronicles from Band Land
  4. Wow -- Luluc, looking at your stats gives me a lot of inspiration to get through this Thanksgiving without overdoing it! To think that you lost 77 lbs between last Thanksgiving and this one makes me wonder where I will be at this time next year. Very exciting stuff!

    The Unexpected!!!

I was banded on 10/23/08, so I'm still a band newbie. So far, I have had absolutely no regrets and am down about 13 lbs. I do have some frustration that I'm not losing faster, but since I am a lower-BMI bandster, 13 lbs has made a difference! I've been keeping a blog, pretty much daily, since right before the surgery. Feel free to check it out -- it will give you some idea of what to expect! Congratulations on your decision and best wishes for your success! Catherine Blog: Chronicles from Band Land
  6. Congratulations on your surgery date! I hope it goes really well! :)
