  1. Disneynut, Thanks for replying and I would really be interested in following your progress. I was banded 3/31/06 with a 10cc band and have 1.6cc and sometimes I wonder if and when I need more. Some days I can eat anything and then the next day I am tight. I am losing very slowly, about 1/2 pound a week; however I am now in Onederland (199) from 222 and that to me is success. I want my band to work for me fast because I am 58 years old and times a wastin.......hahaha So thanks again for sharing and please keep us posted on how you are doing with 4cc's.
  2. Hi, I read somewhere here, (I can't find it now) that in a 10cc band the maximum fill should be 4cc. Is that correct, and if not, what is the maximum? I was banded 3/31/06 at 216 and was filled with 1.6cc. Have only lost 13 pounds and I have followed "all the rules" .....so I am alittle discouraged; however, after my fill I was very very tight for the first week , had PB and was miserable. My fill must have loosened up because now I feel great and can only eat about a cup at each meal; but am still such a slow loser. I am blaming it on my age (58) Anyway, what is the maxium fill for a 10cc. Thanks,
  3. Thanks for the info. It really helps to hear from other banders and it helps not to feel all alone in our journey.....
  4. HI, I was banded March 31, 2006 and received my first fill . Everything was fine then one day I had my lst PB with lots and lots of pain. (Never gonna eat those eggs again) and did liquids the whole day and felt great the next day and could eat what I considered a healthy, good day. But the next day I had 2 bites of shrimp and the pain was awful. Why is it one day this happens and the next day you are fine. It is not because I ate to fast or too much because this happened on the second, small bite. Does your band change sizes for different reasons or any ideas about this and has it happened to anyone else. Now I am afraid to eat anything because I don't want that pain again. Thanks,
  5. Hi, I am newly banded by a doctor in Houston. I have done fine but I was looking for a doctor closer to my home. (Rockport, Tex.) Do you like your doctor and do you think he will do fills if another doctor did the surgery. It looks like you are doing great....... I was banded on March 31, 2006 and have only lost 12 pounds. On Friday I got 1.6 cc in my 10cc band and I am very tight. this is all so new to me that I don't know what to expect but everything is fine when I eat except the "last bite" hurts so much....How do you know when it is time to NOT take that "last bite". Thanks for listening....Pam
  6. Hi, Dr. Spiegel is my doctor too. I was banded March 31, 2006 (6 weeks ago) I am scheduled for my lst fill next Friday and I am scared. Have you been filled by Dr. Spiegal. How does it work? Does it hurt? How does he know how much to fill? I'm afraid of being too tight and then I'm afraid of not "getting my money's worth"....hahaha. Any suggestions on questions to ask him? Thanks for your help.
  7. My surgeon said that Starr Jones had the lapband. I wish she would talk about it and tell us what she eats and help others by her experiences. Have I missed her talking about her surgery?
  8. Alex, I would like to continue talking on this site but I don't want to use my last name anymore. How can I change my name to something else and start fresh?
  9. ShellyJ. What is the brand of the health nut bread. So it alright to eat bread? I am a newbie and would really like to know that bread can be in my future?
  10. This doesn't solve the problem from the inside but after chemotherapy my hair grew back very very thin. There is a product that I use from Spencer Forrest on the internet that has a product called hair fibers. It comes in lots of colors and you sprinkle a small amount on your thin spots and voila you can't see your scalp anymore. I think this product is the most important thing I put on everyday, even more than my makeup.... Wow, it would be a cruel act of fate if I lose more hair after being banded (3-31-06). I will think positive though and keep using my Spencer Forrest product. Hope this helps alittle. P. Sijansky Banded: 3-31/06 Dr. Spiegel - Houston
  11. I have been banded only 3 weeks now. Was doing great with a 15 pound loss but have gained two pounds by just breathing LOL Before this band, Diet Dr. Pepper and spaghetti were my life. I don't seem to miss the Diet drink but how can a life be led without Pasta.....Any substitute recommended? By the way, why can't we have Diet Dr. Pepper? Thanks for any food recommendations that will help with these cravings...
  12. Thank you for that information. It helped alot......
  13. What size band are you? Why do people get different size bands? Why do people get unfilled? Since I am a self pay, I certainly don't want to pay to have it filled and then unfilled and travel 8 hours each time. Does the doctor decide or do you decide. Thanks for the help.
  14. Hi Susan, I have been looking for someone else who was banded by Dr. Spiegel. When were you banded? Could you PM me to talk about something? Thanks, Pam
  15. Thank you for the reply. I guess I am just SCARED of what to expect with a fill. The word restriction keeps coming up and I don't want to feel bad all the time and keep spending money to have it put in and then taken out. I am 8 hours away from my doctor also. I guess I am just "chicken"....Thank you for the support........
  16. Has anyone been banded and lost weight without ever having to get a fill?
  17. Has anyone every had this band and been able to continue to lose weight without every having a fill. Thanks,
  18. Thank you thank you thank you.... I am 7 days out and spent all day "crying and thinking" What the hell did I do.......... You have given me hope. For the last 3 days I have had liquid diarearia(sp) and am feeling very week. Any suggestions. Thanks,
  19. Hi, you are right. I am so new I don't even know where to ask questions....sorry......... why did you have your band removed. How do you get a slippage. Is it easy to get one? Thanks.
  20. Hi, I am so new (7 days) that I don't even know what questions to ask. Sorry.. I just don't know when I am supposed to get a fill. His office said "I will know" but how will I know. I don't like all this gas and I don't want to be really tight but I also am a self pay and can't afford to just keep going back to fill and unfill. I am sorry to sound so stupid but I am confused. Thanks for advice.
  21. Hi, I am a newbie and Dr. Spiegel did my surgery. Has anyone else used Dr. Spiegle? What is his practice about fills. Thanks
  22. Hi, I am a self pay but I am wondering if any of this surgery is tax deductible. Does anyone know. Thanks
  23. Thank you sooooooo much for the advice. It has made alot of difference to me.....How did you know when it was time for a "fill". That seems so complicated to me. Thanks again for your caring....
  24. Thank you so much for your advice. It is amazing how much better I feel just knowing there are people out there who care enough to share things. Thanks
