    Approval?!?

well, don't kill yourself with real food just yet! you have a very tender tummy. so, how many days has it been since you've had real food? and how many days did you feel really bad? just trying to get a gauge on reality. all the paperwork has been submitted as of today. waiting to hear back from the preauthorization nurse now. do you have someone helping you recuperate?

I'm so glad you're okay! So, how have you felt over the last couple of days, really? Have you been able to swallow much? Does your stomach hurt itself, like when you sleep on your side? I've completed everything I need to and filled out the psych test. I'm meeting with him either tomorrow or monday. (I'm hoping for a cancellation tomorrow.) I'm really trying to see if I can get certed for this by Labor Day. I saw a med weightloss clinic for 2 months 7 times before the holidays, and I'm really hoping they will count that towards my dr. visits. You hang in there girl, it's all downhill from here!

Yeah, now I just have to see my regular dr 4 more times for my diet check-in, have a psych, cardio and pulmonary eval and hopefully get certed by the holidays. hoops and more hoops to jump thru. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. I understand the pliation is just stapling the stomach into 2 parts and not removing the portion that they would in a regular sleeve surgery.

I'll bet that's a hard diet to do right now. Hopefully, I'll qualify and get this done finally. I'm 5' 7".

really? no one told me about any options. you have a modified liquid diet for 90 days? wow! think once they get you below a certain BMI they can refuse to give you the surgery? that's what I wonder.

I'll bet you're really excited! Do you have to do a liquid diet before the surgery?

I have Aetna now , I've submitted paperwork and now have hoops to jump through. I'm 5' 7", weigh 253 now (Just lost 10 lbs) and have to go through a 6 month Dr. monitored diet first. I've seen her twice, had a bunch of lab work done, including drug testing. Frustrating, as once you decide this is the best choice, you've probablyl already been through many diets as I have and gained and lost the same 35 lbs over and over again. Hopefully by Nov. I'll be qualified to have the sleeve. Wondering whether the pliation or the full sleeve is the better choice. Still have to meet with the actual Dr. This is the 2nd time I'm trying to qualify. UHC turned me down 3 years ago.

Inquiring Mind What Like To Know!!!!!

I must say it was really quick! I walked into the office, they took my information, said I had great insurance for this and took all my health information, figured BMI, etc. This was on Wednesday. Today is Monday and I'm waiting for an answer from the insurance specialist at Baptist Metabolic Surgery to tell me if I'm pre-certified or not. Some places make you try other options first for up to 6 months, mine doesn't. They gave me a couple of online codes to informational programs on this procedure and gastric bypass. I watched them over the weekend. So far the process seems much easier than I had anticipated. At least the process leading up to the actual surgery...

Inquiring Mind What Like To Know!!!!!

I am under United Healthcare insurance too, and waiting for approval. I've finally made the decision to do the Lap Band, provided it's covered. I, too, am somewhat nervous about changing my body surgically, but I've been overweight for a decade and have tried numerous diets that work in the short term, but the weight comes back on. Familiar story, huh? Anyone familiar with Dr. George Lynch at Baptist Metabolic Surgery in Nashville? He is the Dr. I've been assigned to...
