  1. Almost EVERY single night I wake up choking with acid. I have not had a fill since March, 07. I am taking Protonix for the acid but still wake up each night choking from the acid. Then I spend the next 1-2 hours coughing and trying to get back to sleep. Any suggestions? I have a hard time believing that I am "too full" in the band. I have had this fill for over 5 months. I have started sleeping in the recliner after an acid choking episode so I don't keep my wife up. There has to be something I can do. I did end up with pneumonia and was in the hospital 4 days. I believe now it may have been from choking on the acid.

I am reluctant to go back to the surgeon because my insurance does not cover visits after one year (Surgery 4-06). Each time the surgeon sees me I get a bill for $130.00 Does anybody out there have this problem? Please respond.

    Thank you.

  4. DonnaB, I have to tell you, you have had some great ideas! After reading your last post to me, I went online and researched the Isopure Protein drink with No Carbs. I found them in a local store and sent my wife out for some. After sipping on the blue raspberry for the last couple hours I am starting to feel better again. We bought three bottles at $3.89 a bottle, not cheap but a lot better than drinking those darn Protein shakes. I couldn't even bear the smell of them anymore.

It feels good knowing I am getting a good daily supply of Protein from the liquid Isopure. Great suggestioin!

  5. Hi Everyone-

Just heard back from the RD about my lack of energy and lack luster energy.

I am not taking in enough Protein and with the amount of walking I am doing 1.2 to 1.6 miles a day, I need to get at least 60 grams of Protein. I have only been getting about 40 a day for the last few days.

The RD suggested replacing the Protein shake with Carnation Instant Breakfast shake. Different taste and texture. Should help some. I sure appreciate this forum. You guys are great!

1 week post op today! ONLY 1 more week of full fluids! Then MUSHIES!!!

  6. Thanks Kathy.

I am 1 week post op today. Surgery was 4-10-06. I am eating 1 Protein drinks for Breakfast and 1 for lunch, a bowl of broth for dinner and 1 Protein Drink at night. I have almost no energy, I want to sleep most of the afternoon. At night, when it is time to drink that last Protein drink, I start to get sick thinking about it. I have a hard time finishing the broth. No desire to eat at all during the day.

By the way, I did go get the Aloe Vera juice and have been drinking that for a couple days. Certainly something you have to get used to. I drink about 3-4 ounces a day. Unique taste.

    Any other suggestions?:)

    Thanks,

  7. I feel nausated. The last couple days I have been able to eat only half of what I am supposed to pre-op. I am not hungry at all. I force the Protein Drink down (sips).

Feel very tired. Extremely tired. I just took a three hour nap after church and feel like I could have stayed the rest of the night. Any thoughts?

  8. Hi Everyone. Thank you for the responses/suggestions. I am sleeping better but still have difficulty getting up/down from chairs and in/out of bed. I am walking more though. Got in 1 mile yesterday. Hope to get a little more today. I does help with the gas a little but the best thing I have found so far is the suggestion from DonnaB, about leaning over the side of the bed with arms on forehead. Helps almost every time. :uwelcome:

Keep it up. Good to hear from all of you.

  9. Molly- Good to make the journey with you through this forum. I am doing a little better today. I made it a total of 1/2 mile today (several trips). I slept for 2 hours today for a nap. My chin is up Molly! Keep yours up too! Flash

  10. Thank you Ethansgrandma. I am dealing a little better with the pain. I have a great support network here with my wife. I started feeling flush and when she took my temp I was 100.9. I took the Lortab and was feeling better the next time she checked me. Good to talk to you and thanks for the support. I can't wait to say I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op Flashover

  11. I am post-op two days now and the Loretab the Dr. sent me home with doesn't seem to be helping. I have been doing the walking and breathing exercises like I was directed. Seems to be a pain that rests right at the bottom of my diaphram and moves to my port site. Any suggestions? Anybody "Been there, done that?"

  12. Almost everybody that I have talked to has had to do some kind of pre-op diet. Most do so to shrink their liver for the surgery. It makes it easier for the doctor to perform it without doing the "open" surgery.

I will let you know how the weigh in goes tomorrow. Talk to you then.
