To tell or not to tell?!?

i have only told certain ppl. the last thing i want to hear is all of the reasons why they would not do it. as far as work, i have told those that im close too. i dont consider all of my co-workers my friends so i will not let them in my space like that. there has been neg. comments made abt others who do the WLS. as far as family those who need to know will know, eventually the word will get around no need for me to tell. its all abt your comfort. i just told my DH not to tell his family but thats only b/c i want to shock them the next time i see them.

Pre op testing done (Just my babbling)

hi my day is jan 22 and im nervous too. in 95 i had abt 8 surgeries in a 4 month period yet im still nervous. that was years ago though and i wasn't nervous then, odd. anyway i understand where you all are coming from b/c its surgery. i start my pre-op on 1/8 and im looking for a drink starting tomorrow. i really need some tasty recipes. good luck to you all
  5. hey linda i do my pre-op on the 7th. im looking forward to summer too. we normally go to NY during labor day so this year i really want to be in shape b/c we do alot of walking. im not looking forward to the shakes but its a part of the success process so i will do my best to stick to it. i just want to find a few nice tasting recipes to help get through it. im going tomorrow to look for a shake, what are you using? im so excited for everyone!!!
  6. :lol:hi well our time is here YEA!!!! its what we have all been waiting for, time to start banding together, in a way. best wishes to all jan 2 bandsters. if by chance someone is getting banded jan 1, what a way to start the new year. much success
  7. im so glad you posted that abt the flying. i totally understand why you keep to the diet. we went to NY in sept and i was so relieved that i did not need an extension belt. i have gained alot of weight since then so i know if i was to get on a plane today it would be ugly:sad_smile: i'll be so happy when i can get on a plane and ppl dont have that "i hope you are not sitting next to me" look. this will all be worth it. im going to check at walmart over the w/e to check on the shakes. theres a sams near me but i dont have a card so i will just search until i find whats required. my last resort will be bariatric advantage online. im going to look for the shakes by robb too, i remember hearing his are good too. thx everyone

January bandsters our time is coming!!!

hi all im jan 22, i start the pre-op diet jan 8. it will be a new but worth it in the end. i've had a good run with unhealthy food so its time to break-up anyway. im having myine done in temple tx with dr symmonds.
  14. soontobeme great advice, you helped me as well as others im sure. i love food to so it will be a new experience to focus on all the other stuff. normally after b-fast im thinking abt what i will eat for lunch but now all of that will have to change. im ready to focus on clothes, looking better, feeling tons better. it will be great to sit in a chair and not wonder if it can support your weight or get on a ride and know the safety bar will close with ease. thx
  15. peanutband i have to do a mandatory class to. its a lifestyle change class and it has to be done before surgery. welcome to all the newcomers, it wont be long before we get the ball rolling in jan.
  16. hi nfl1 yeah i hear the "im supporting you line too". since your partner is heavy too, maybe after seeing how well you are doing she might get more interested. if my husband feels that i might find someone else once the weight is gone he has never mentioned it. although that could be an unspoken fear. i have known people to get divorces or break up once one person has lost alot of weight. i wish you success once you are banded and you will have lots of support here:thumbup:

  18. congrats on finally getting your dates
  19. hi i do know what you mean and im happy that he is concerned but his worrying is causing me to worry more and i dont need to start doubting my decision. i know im making a good decision i've put this off until i felt i was ready for it. after trying for so many years on my own i know i have to do something to be healthy. im so happy i found this site, it seems like we all deal with the same stuff. its just good to post then within a few hours i get what i need to make me feel better.
  20. you brought up alot of good points. i guess most ppl dont don't think of WL surgery in that aspect.
  21. hi thx for the responses so far. from talking to him i think he is afraid something might go wrong. i guess that's a normal feeling anytime a loved one is put to sleep and operated on. i know it will be a long hour (or so) for him. i'll just have to keep talking to him, he might not ever feel comfy. thx all

    New to the site!

hi i just posted the exact same thing. my husband is nervous and doesn't want me to do it but i know it will be better in the long run. i guess once the surgery is over with no complications he will feel better. he went to the seminar with me and last night i pulled up a surgery but he said it grossed him out. we only looked at abt 2 mins. i wish i knew what to do to put him at ease but i just dont know. im hoping the ladies here that went through this can offer some advice to help us.
  23. :shades_smile:what to wear...so much to choose from i would love to wear a mid-driff top that ties around the neck with some nice jeans, strapless dresses and nice fitting shirts. im so tired of constantly stretching my shirts. i want to wear a bathing suit too- i cant even remember EVER wearing one. shopping will be more fun
  24. ok...i need some advice my husband is very scared for me to have this surgery. are any of you dealing with a very nervous family member that does not want you to do it. he is very supportive of my decision but i know he doesnt want me to do it. he is thin so i told him a thin person will not understand fully what an OW person is going through. i think he understands that i really want this, he probably just thinks it could have been done w/o surgery. i dont know how to make him feel better and i dont want his feelings to cloud my decision. my bmi is 55 o i know i need this. im nervous about the surgery too but im a high risk everyday. plz help
