  1. So all this drama got me to come back and say "Hi!"

    So, Hi!

My 1 year anniversary is tomorrow. Whoot whoot to me. My son is 18 next week. Um, yeah? I promised him my old car, but he still doesn't have his license.

I got a triathlon coach! Hopefully this will improve my performances next season and get me through the Half-ironman next month.

Because I know I'll miss it tomorrow because I will be in school, I'll say my congrats today! Omg, you look so fab I thought you had your band longer! WOW!

  2. She called! Relieved mom. She had to throw her old phone at the wall to break it open and get out the SIM card. Anywho! She had fun on her Engineering hiking/rafting trip and is back in her dorm. She met her roomie and they seem to get along.

I can now breath and move on!

That's great news, mom! :tongue2: Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out.

  3. Yikes, Slim! :smile2: The schools are closed because of flooding? Wow!

I remember when we first moved to Houston, it was June 2006, and in July that year we had flooding so bad that a car in front of me started to drift sideways. I thought, "where the HECK did we move to?????"

    The tropics.

What most people call torrential rains, Houston calls spring.

I remember the first fall we lived in our new house (older house, new to us), and we had gone to a weekend marriage seminar through our church. The "rules" were no TV and we were either in our rooms, eating in the hotel restaurant, or in the seminar. We never even went outside from Friday night until we left late Sunday afternoon.

We knew it was raining, but we didn't know it was RAINING. We got home to see pontoon boats being trailered out of our neighborhood and cars lined all up and down the main street in (the neighborhood had one main street in and out and short streets that intersected it with cul-de-sacs at either end). Of course we're having an oh s**t moment, right?

Luckily for US the flooding only came within three streets of ours. Ours was a narrow but deep subdivision (1.5 miles deep) and the further back it went, the more it dipped down towards Cypress Creek.

We had no idea the POTENTIAL for flooding when we bought, but we were very lucky that we were typically safe.

  4. Well, we can't lose our Slim.

Is that a typical reaction to possibly having too much BP meds in the system? I don't know much about BP... I'm guessing the number you gave is high, which means the meds would bring you "down." If your numbers are now lower and you didn't know it, they would bring you "down" to the point of lethargy...? Do I pass?

  5. Totally PJTP: I taunt my dog. I am a bad dog mom. You see, his real name is Woodchuck. I did NOT name him. When I got him, I decided calling him Woody was close enough and not too traumatic for him. Poor dog has to contend with all those folks who make jokes... (a poet and didn't know it)

But what's awful is...I ask him how much wood can a woodchuck chuck...etc. Woody is blonde. He never gets it. So sad.

Sad? I'm sitting here amusing myself taunting my blonde dog on a Sat night. Didn't even have wine. Just being bored.....Then I read Kat's post about wood cutting...

Really good to hear from G4E though! Kat, please keep us updated.

    Toodles

I can top that. Our neighbors have a dog named Woody. The owners? Two gay guys. Yep.

Though to take the funny out of it, he is a brindle and they called him that due to the fact that he looks like wood. Well, that's what they SAY...

  6. And I'm just sitting down getting ready to go to bed. I'm packed for my trip; another couple of quarts of applesauce made; a zillion loads of laundry are done (all the towels and facecloths from the eye experience - every time I used one, it went into the pile...tomorrow, perhaps I can rest?

Wow... Okay, I'm a total slouch today! lol

You really ARE a university student!!!!:tt2:Guess you'll stay away from the liquor tonight so you can hit the books bright and early tomorrow, right?

I'm HOPING with all the sleeping I did today I'll be up really early in order to utilize my day fully. I had HOPED my university life would have included jock raids instead of drinking, since I've been legal now for 26 years... :blushing:

  7. PJTP -

You all know that the job front for me has been a little crazy. Layoffs are around once or twice a month since the beginning of the year. I work for a large oil tool company that just recently decided to merge all the divisions (a total of 9). I work as an admin in the Import/Export Compliance dept.

So, with the announcement of the merge, we were told that we were moving to another building across town. I was told I'd work under Ms. Z with my co-worker Princess, but it wasn't made official.

Then Princess was out last week and Ms. Z was notified and I was cc'd on the email...and Ms. Z sent an email asking if anyone there could do the imports while Princess was out.

My first thought was, "If I'm on Z's roster, then why doesn't she know I exist???" I immediately replied with a "look at me!" email.

Another email came out later that was generic, from the big-big boss, and I sent an email with a few well-worded questions and was told that pretty soon I'll be moving under Ms. M. M??? wth? When did that change? So, still not knowing what's what, I let it rest a few days.

Yesterday our group was invited to go to the other location and participate in a cookout they were having. I had a BALL!!! When we got back I sent an email to the big boss that I wanted to talk to him.

He called me later at home! I was not prepared for that.

He said I was safe, I had a home there and that I was getting a promotion. (Title only, grade and $$ won't come while layoffs are happening, but will later.) I won't be an admin, I'll be handling exports along with a team of others whom I adore!

I am so relieved and so happy. I had an interview for another department and now I'm thinking of cancelling that. It's not at all appealing, but it was a job and I was worried...now, I'm soooo happy beyond belief!!!

    Sorry for the lengthy post!!!

DH's 'rent are almost here...need to finish cleaning up a bit. Ya'll have a GREAT weekend!

That is FANTASTIC, Glouc!!! I'm SOOO happy for you!!! :blushing::hurray::biggrin::hurray::biggrin:

  8. Thanks Slim!

    Good news/Bad news....

Good news - for the first time since I was about oh maybe 9, I fit into a SINGLE DIGIT sized clothing!!!! I don't care that it was a somewhat stretchy fabric and a manufacturer known for clothes that are a little big, I fit into a size 8......WHOO-HOO!!!

And because I was just so stunned, I left the dressing room (another first, I usually hide in them), walked out and asked a saleslady if I was reading the tag correctly!! And THEN, because I was on a roll, I bought another pair, different color AND 2 new shirts...those unfortunately will always necessitate double-digit sizes.

Bad news - there was frost last night. Flowers are wilted. Winter is soon coming....

    BUT I FIT A SIZE 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS Would it be so wrong to only buy that manufacturers clothing for the rest of my life???

    OMG, CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :blushing::hurray::biggrin::hurray::biggrin:

  9. Oh and Missbandy - I beg to differ but IMO - you're only a drunk if you cant hold your liquor - I on the other hand have an unbelievable ability to maintain control - it's a tough job but One I'm quite proud of - how else could I continue to entertain and please the masses.

I can honestly say I didn't puke last night. Came thisclose, but didn't. Yay me. Guess that makes me a drunk. :blushing:
