I'm guessing you're a guy, so I have a question. You say "guys flirt," as if it's understandable what he's doing. If she was your wife and some good-looking, buff guy was texting her in secret, how would you feel about it? Just curious.
-
It's not her interest in him that you have to worry about but his potential interest in her. It sounds a bit shady. How would he like it if you were secretly texting some 20-something Adonis??

Omg, we'll both be interviewing on the same day at the same time!! Well, considering the above realization, you'll understand why I won't do it right then, hmmm? -

Ew, yum! lol I have had acid indigestion since last night. Had a fill yesterday, so I'm trying to pay close attention. Never slept a wink last night because of it. Called my doc's office at 6:45 to tell the nurse what's going on, and right now it's possible it's due to what I had yesterday -- tomato soup, cheese soup after 11pm, and a number of peppermint Altoids. I may have caused this, but I have to watch to be sure it's not also do to the swelling from the PBing in the days prior to my fill AND the fill itself. Feel kinda miserable. All I've had today is Mylanta and some sips of water. -

It's at 4:00 today, or did you also have an interview on Thursday like I do? Let me know so I know when to start rippin' mah clothes off. -
I don't know. I've seen lots of people redefine what words mean, especially when they're "in it." It's no skin off my nose; I've just known atheists as those who do not believe in God or gods, whether they deny the existence outright or simply due to no "proof," and agnostics don't really take a stance either way -- God/gods may exist, they may not exist -- they just haven't been convinced. If one doesn't believe in God/gods, then to them, it IS "absolutely no." Otherwise they leave open the possibility, and I would say they are agnostic.

I dunno, Lydia... don't mean to pick nits, but even Dictionary.com says otherwise: a⋅the⋅ist /ˈeɪθiɪst/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ey-thee-ist] Show IPA –noun a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings. Origin: 1565–75; < Gk áthe(os) godless + -ist Synonyms: Atheist, agnostic, infidel, skeptic refer to persons not inclined toward religious belief or a particular form of religious belief. An atheist is one who denies the existence of a deity or of divine beings. An agnostic is one who believes it impossible to know anything about God or about the creation of the universe and refrains from commitment to any religious doctrine. Infidel means an unbeliever, especially a nonbeliever in Islam or Christianity. A skeptic doubts and is critical of all accepted doctrines and creeds.

In all fairness, those who were simply labeled as slave owners or who had indentured servants -- that was the law of the land back then. We look at it differently now, but back then that was normal. Try telling that to today's politicians. They ALL think they're rock stars. *edit* In case PG said something like what I did above, I have her on ignore and can't read what she says (unless somebody quotes her).

If I stay in my marriage, I see it mimicking my mother's. -
You're very welcome, Tina! My mom is a breast cancer survivor. Her mom is not. So... obviously I have a very strong history, and this is near to my heart. Glad to hear you will be enjoying your non-iversary!

That sounds fantastic, Susan!! I think dream houses only truly work when we can afford them... and most people I know (myself included) have dreams of dream homes that we can't afford. Otherwise they wouldn't be "dream homes." lol I think once you have money to save and play with, you're right, a HUGE load will vaporize. When we are forced to work our asses off just to pay the bills, something is wrong. DH is such that if he had his way, we would pay bills and never spend another dime. Nuh-uh, not me. I may not do much, but I WILL have some entertainment. I'd love vacations, but those are few and far between. I am not a live-for-today kind of person, but I am NOT a save-it-ALL-for-tomorrow either. Because knowing him, he will be EXACTLY like my father who was all about saving for retirement, only to sit on his ass day in and day out. He's been retired going on 10 years and they haven't done squat. -

"PB" stands for "productive burp," which is where food gets stuck in the hole and you need to burp (or throw up) to get it out. -

Hehehe, it's a legitimate gripe. I'll do the best I can to rest my stomach -- but I'm going out for a girl's night for dinner and a movie here in just a little bit. :blushing: At the very least I think I'll do liquids tomorrow, and Monday is a fill anyway, so... -

I wish I was packing -- PBing for the second time in three days on crab. The first time I thought it was me. Now I think it's the crab. :blushing: -

I know for myself (and many others), the stressors have been trying to hold on to things we can no longer afford. If it's do-able without making things worse (i.e. bankruptcy or losing one's home outright), people don't realize that the stress can be eliminated (or greatly reduced) by lowering their expectations. I think what Susan and her husband are able to do will bring great relief to them, no matter how their marriage goes. You take away that one HUGE stressor, and things truly change. -

Maybe not the best, but at the same time, it seems that it is. Is it just me, or does it seem like some "force" out there is trying to teach some of us how to appreciate less? I know I feel that way over here... to appreciate the lesser th ings instead of the finer things -- bring us back to center. It's certainly not a testament to those who are really scared and struggling, but for those of us who have to downsize and rid ourselves of some stressors, it just seems that way. Okay, rant over. :blushing: -
Eh, don't worry about always saying no. If you're making the right choices 90 percent of the time, you're doing REALLY well. And if your clothes are looser, then you are probably losing fat and gaining muscle. Like I said, if you measure your inches, I bet you'll find that you are losing in that way.
-
You're not failing. I'm sure you're hungrier quicker because of all the exercise you're getting. Also, are you eating foods that will fill you up more? Proteins will fill you and stay with you more than salads, for example. Also, are you measuring yourself? I am a HUGE proponent of this because oftentimes it will show inch loss even when the scale is not budging. If not measuring (which I highly recommend you begin doing), are your clothes fitting looser? I tell myself this little line whenever I feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be but the scale isn't showing the results: As long as I keep doing the right things, the right things will happen. I am sure you'll be fine and the scale will eventually start giving better numbers.

Yes'm, message received. I know for me, I got that way years and years ago when I was in a women's shelter for domestic abuse, and you'd see women who were beaten within an inch of their lives and you felt almost guilty... that your problems weren't as bad as theirs because your face only had a couple bruises. It's hard to not put things in perspective with what others are going through, but I'll try to be better. -

Omg, somehow I missed this until somebody quoted it! WOOT!!!! Total prayers and good thoughts, positive energy, and maybe even a nekkid fire dance (only if need be, but for you...) to help this come about for you if it's meant to be. Thursday must be a magic day. I don't want to steal any of your thunder, but I had an interesting day yesterday (Thursday) which culminates in something interesting for next Thursday. I had an interview with the place I tested for two weeks ago. I hate to sound like a booger, but though it's a state job and pretty okay to get into (though the pay sucks), I really don't want THIS job. The way it was posted was, I see now, very general, and I thought it would be doing what I did before. It wasn't until I went in for the testing that I was told what it is: a front-counter job. Ugh. No challenge, no nothing interesting. Just a paycheck. So... they called me for an interview for yesterday, which I went to. I'll also say that when I went to test, the lady in HR said, "I shouldn't be telling you this but there was a lady who used to work here and then left, and she is back now and applied for this job." In all honesty, I hope they give it to her. Anyway... I get there for my interview and am about 10 minutes early. I approach the elevators and as the door opens, off walks an attorney I knew from where I worked before. He does a double-take and asks what I'm doing there, and I told him I was there for an interview. He asked why and I told him it was because of the changes where I was and how that didn't work for me. He asked what type of work I was applying for and I told him. He kinda perked up and started asking other questions, then said he was wondering these things because HE'S looking for somebody. He told me to give him a call, and I asked for his card. He's a nice man and I've heard he's great to work for -- that he really appreciates his workers. Sometimes to bring up morale or thank people for a job well done, he gives them certificates for massages and stuff like that. Now, truly I don't care about the stuff -- I just like hearing that he appreciates his help! So I called his office within minutes of getting home, but of course he was still in court. However, less than an hour later I got a call from somebody in his office asking for my resume and to set an interview -- next Thursday at 4:00. I asked the girl if I would be asking for her, and she said, "No, you'll be interviewing with him." I'm VERY psyched about this. I don't believe in fate, per se, but I DO believe in divine intervention and things happening for a reason. Had I been even a minute sooner or a minute later, I wouldn't have bumped into him. The pay I quoted is about $10,000 more a year than the job I was there to interview for, his office is closer to my home (and I swear to God just a stone's throw away from my LB doctor's office), about a mile from where ColoradoChick works, and he knows me and what I can do -- which, in THIS economy, may be what makes or breaks people in getting jobs. I have to sell myself, but not to the degree of selling oneself to people you don't know. So Ebony, I'll be on my knees praying for BOTH of us, sister! Again, sorry for stealing your thunder. I've been wanting to post this since yesterday, but there were so many sad stories I didn't feel it was appropriate just yet.
