Somehow I missed this! I don't think I'm getting all my notifications, and when I do get them, it's not taking me to the last post I read. That said, COOL HOUSE! I had a Georgian Colonial when I lived in Houston. A total labor of love, though I found I really didn't "love" the house. Maybe because I never felt like I could really enjoy it. It was 3316 sf and was dark, chocolate brown when we bought it (the VA owned it and I think they just wanted to use one layer of paint, so brown it became). I built our sprinkler system, tilled the yard, laid sod, and we had it re-sided and painted on the outside. On the inside we laid 550 sf of tile OURSELVES (hard work, but well worth the cost saved), painted everything, etc., INCLUDING wood paneling (yes, the house was built in 1972). I came to really like it the last 6 months we lived in it, but I really wasn't committed to it. It was massive, the rooms were HUGE, and it was impressive to be 20-somethings with such a huge house, but beyond that, there was nothing more.

Yes'm. I've been languishing here at home too long, with no schedule, and I'm such a schloob that I need schedules to keep me on track. That, and my basement is torn up. I hate that I started a flooring project down there that I haven't been able to finish. It was pretty stupid to even try starting it. And I guess I'm a bit bored/depressed/blah. Okay, now that I put all my excuses out there, I need you to kick my ass. What say you? :wink:

Yeah, that was my thought. BUT, if they really want you gone, what would be the benefit to her to do something so stupid? How long have you worked under this supervisor? That's my thought. Like I said, ANY potential new employer would know that to contact a supervisor pretty much tells them that you are looking. To do so if you are one of a number of potential new-hires is rather frivolous and could damage that employee's job! I think they are REALLY serious, Ebony. Yes, and it's very understandable. Well... let's just hope that a potential new employer would never put an employee in that position unless they have their minds made up. Otherwise it really puts people in precarious positions. Let's also hope that if they DO talk to her (maybe they are just testing you?), that she isn't a biotch.

Joan, I bow at your feet! You nailed it right on the head, m'dear. And I'm sorry that you, who needs the help, are being treated so badly. Canadian medicine DOES NOT WORK. Socialized medicine DOES NOT WORK. Hell, I heard about a week ago that somebody pretty high up in Canada (government, I believe) came HERE to get medical care. Now why is that? If their service is sooooooooo good, why come here? The government is about incompetence and stupidity. I wouldn't hand over a taco stand for them to run, yet they think they can do real estate (wrong, already failed), medicine (fails wherever they are involved), cars, etc. The government is also about greed and theft. There are those who say that the big, bad businessman is the devil, that he's greedy, that because he flourishes off of what he built, he's somehow evil. YET, the government, who had NO involvement in the flourishing of that company, thereby having nothing to do with the accrued wealth of the businessman, decides that it has the right to tax the businessman MORE for his reward for a job well done and STEALS his money from him. Yet the government isn't greedy. The government isn't the devil. The government is treated like Robin Hood because the government steals from one to give to another. There are people who believe that is right, people that are JUST. THAT. STUPID. And the biggest greedmeister of all is Obama. Wasn't one of his campaign promises that he wasn't going to raise taxes on those who made below "X" amount of money? Seems to me that cigarettes, food, sodas, etc., hit the very people he swore he was going to protect. The very people who drank his kool-aid, who chanted after him like he was a god, who are being screwed royally while looking on adoringly on this idiot. Yes, let's have socialized medicine. :wink2: You tell it like it is, like those of us who have RESEARCHED it KNOW it is all about. People dying because they can't get a gall bladder removed? That's just the tip of the iceburg. But I guess SOME think that's okay. What I want to know is, if medicine will only take care of those who "deserve" it -- those who aren't too young or too old, and who have "worth" because they can be viable members of society -- then what the hell is different between THIS and what Hitler did in trying to create a perfect race by eliminating those who were "less than"? Nothing, from where I'm sitting, except that the government will use government medicine to do it rather than one squirrelly little man with a funky moustache.

Believe it or not, my DD has all that. She wears a size 0, is 5'10" tall, and has a very full D cup. Though I love her, I hate her. :wink2: Okay, wait -- disclaimer: I saw you said big FIRM boobs. She's complained since having the baby that they are a bit further south than they used to be, but still... she wears a tank and it looks like she has a second bum.

Look, just because your town's so small your hospital is housed in one doesn't mean the rest of us are all Wal-mart all the time.

Most doctors won't even take Medicaid because of the way that screws them! No doubt you toss in government healthcare, the "dirty hands people," and you can forget it. Uncle Sam will be determining who lives and dies and is worthy of getting care. They ruin every single thing they touch and do. This will be no different.

It is a problem, yes. I am just not willing to always jump to conclusions when obvious racism is readily available.

But don't you see how sad it is that it may have been something totally unrelated to race, and here she is feeling hurt over it, thinking it's racism? I find that almost sadder than racism itself! It imprisons people and makes them victims all the time, and I feel that is very hurtful to one's psyche. AND unnecessary.

Well, that is very sad that you find it fun. But it explains why it keeps happening.

But again, if her examples are similar to the two she mentioned here, I still stand by my assertion. Now if they do something that is beyond-a-doubt racially motivated, then yes, they should be hung by their privates. However, if it's just assumed on her part that that's what has happened, like the examples given here, I'm sorry but I just can't chime in here and agree with her.

Until or unless I see PROOF that the OP was mistreated with racism, I stand by my opinion of her case. And yes, it IS my opinion. These were not cases of racism. The sooner she lets go of that, the happier she'll be. There are enough cases of REAL racism out there without having to create it out of thin air.

Her FEELINGS are valid only to the extent that she chooses to believe what happened was a result of racism. Nothing more. My backup is that there was no mention that anybody called her a racial epithet, forced her to the back of the bus, told her she didn't belong there, nobody hiss or spit at her, NOTHING. One person didn't talk to her and another person moved. SO? There's no more proof that those two cases were due to racism (as written) than there is proof that those two people were actually aliens from the planet Zorg and were afraid that their identities would be revealed if they talked to her or sat by her. I can at least deal in facts, proof, and back up my stance. Which is something I see you still refuse to do in this case. Instead, you came out with your fangs out because I said maybe these situations really weren't what the OP assumed. Period. Considering how you initiated the contact between us tonight, I'd say you are the one that has the issues. It can't be good for your blood pressure, dear. And you never seem like you're having fun.
