Because they're vermin and don't give a shit. I remember when the Gulf War was going on and Geraldo Rivera (nee Jerry Rivers, the scab) was drawing a map in the sand showing where our guys were right before a "secret mission," talking about where they were coming from and where they were going!! People like that should be shot on the spot. BY THE MILITARY. That would make a good story!

Please tell your sons they have a grateful free citizen because of them. I'm also wondering how much this is costing California, a state that can't afford a happy meal, much less this circus.

FOX News had a good -- and thought-provoking -- article on this: Relatives of Soldier Killed in Afghanistan Decry Lack of Coverage Amid Jackson Spectacle - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com We treat this guy like a god, yet our boys and girls who are TRUE HEROES, are treated like roadkill in the media.

I'm with you on this. Family gets NO break if they are abusing children! To turn a blind eye is CRIMINAL, and I hold those who could have told but didn't just as responsible as the sex abuser when s/he begins abusing different children. That child's pain and blood and tears is on that individual's hands just as much as on the abuser's. They should be ashamed of themself!!! EDIT: This goes towards adults who find out about abuse in their family, not children who were abused. That is a whole 'nother psyche.

Well, I felt like the interview went well, but you know how that goes. Interviewed with the office administrator and the paralegal who would be training me to help her. The business is growing and she needs assistance. They will train, which is GREAT, because it's a great way to get experience in this area without having to get schooling for it. I felt like the administrator was all on board with me and showed a lot of enthusiasm, especially for my questions to them and my experience. The paralegal was a bit quiet, but I think it's because of a cultural thing more than that anything to do with me (she's Korean). I don't mean that to sound weird, it's just that sometimes it's just that way. She was just harder to read, and her communication with me was a bit stunted. Hopefully if I get the job I can follow her because I use lots of words. Anyway, they said they might know something by the end of the week, and maybe there might be a second interview, but they haven't decided yet. When I asked the agency if there have been others or if there are others yet to interview there, they said "there have been numerous interviews with that firm." Hmmm... I just look at it that they haven't found what they're looking for yet. They actually waited for me to come back from out of town for this interview, which I thought was great. So... maybe I'll know by the end of the week!

I would say drinking massive quantities of alcohol, but I think that's frowned upon before an interview. :tongue_smilie: Actually it's a tad better than it felt. The shower helped with the blistered areas, though makeup just enhances the fact that there's an issue going on -- so I tried to go really light with just a tinted moisturizer. My face looks like I either ran 10 miles or have high blood pressure -- except where my bangs mercifully kept the upper part of my forehead as white as snow. It looks ridiculous, but I just keep my bangs down. lol

Actually that's a great idea I hadn't thought of. The woman I contacted before I went out of town wrote me on Saturday to say she is out on maternity leave but would give me some names of others who specialize in eating disorders. And though I didn't do the binge eating the way my sis did (including the purging), I DID binge eat -- or eat too much. I used food to sedate myself, and I know that. Not only that, when I've been stressed (as I have been here lately), I've been turning to slider foods here and there. I realize that for me, restricting my stomach is not enough. I need to get to the core of what made me this way.

Hey, y'all, just got back from Michigan! Nice visit, but nice to be home and seeing familiar sights. No issues with the dog, thank GOD, because that could have gotten ugly. However, I was always watching her to be sure that she wasn't thinking about it. :tongue_smilie: Got some sun on Saturday and -- well, "some" is too tame a word. You OUGHT to see my face. And now I have dried blisters on my chin and alongside my nose. And my interview is in three hours. Omg... hardly had any sun at ALL the whole time I was there, and the couple hours we sit out on Saturday and I got burned. Anyway, I was only able to peruse the five pages waiting for me because I'm trying to study up on the firm I'm interviewing with and get myself informed on what they do so I don't sound like a total dolt. The only question I saw that was asked of me was from Mac -- about my looking for an eating disorder counselor. I think for me it's important to feed the mind as I change my body -- not only because of my own perceptions of myself as this goes along, but also because of potential changes in relationships, and frankly, because my outlet (eating) is being affected. Because of that, I think it's important for somebody like me to have the support of a professional to help keep me on track because I know my own track record and how I fail (even though the band is different, but I'm not). Ebony: My biggest reason for scanning the posts was to see if... IF... but alas, nothing.

Wow, I'm shocked you even had to be put in that situation! Family friend or not, the fact is, your mother sounded like she was in essence willing to risk your children's safety and well-being with a friend who was a KNOWN pedophile! Where do you think most abuse victims come from?? From right under our noses, the ones most available to us. Omg, I'm SO glad you stuck to your guns!!

*G4E - hoping and praying you get some pain relief soon! *The dog - omg, y'all are hitting the nail right on the head. I know my sister hates the dog, but at the same time she makes the same excuses her husband does for the dog. I think it's because she knows if she goes against sonny-boy, hubby will go against her. She waited to age 37 before she got married, and unfortunately her husband totally wussifies his son. Kid is 13 years old and cries for "daddy" when he goes to bed. When they visited here, he wouldn't even sleep in his own guest room! He piled in with the two of them. The reason? There was a mirror in his room. Which I offered to take down. I have determined (though haven't said yet so as not to cause a fight) that if that dog bites me, I'm calling animal control. No ifs, ands, or buts. If I could afford a hotel room AND a rental car, I'd do it, but as it is, with no job... she's helping me with the airfare. PJTP: I have an interview the day I get home! They wanted to meet with me this week, but obviously no can do. I get in Monday morning, and originally they wanted me there at 11:00, but because I get in at 9:00 and still have to get home to get my car... I asked if we could do afternoon. So I go in at 2:00! I got the referral through an agency, and it's temp-to-perm. They want somebody to grow with their firm, which is what I want as well. So... let's see how it goes!

The problem is, the stepson rules the roost. It's his dog, and the father makes all sorts of concessions for the dog for the sake of the kid. Where my sister used to be the lone hold-out, I think now she goes along to get along. I mean, the mother of the boy had the dog a few weeks ago when my parents came to visit (don't ask, I already tried that -- the mother won't be in town) because my mom was afraid the dog might bite. The dog ended up biting the friend of the boy's mother! I have no idea how many times this dog has bitten. Truth be told, we will probably never know or be told how often. One time was a child that the dog nipped. My BIL asked if it drew blood, and when the mother said no, he was like, "Meeh, okay. Kid should stay away from the dog." This dog even gutted my sister's beloved dog, which I can't believe didn't result in them ridding themselves of this monster. The poor dog (smaller, maltese/shihtsu mix) had to get stitches! I mean, WTF?? I forgot that this was the primary reason I wouldn't go visit them. I'm already nervous it's gonna get ugly.

I think the biggest sham MJ was able to pull on people was this "Peter Pan" image, this little boy-man facade that was pure bull. Sex abusers are master manipulators, and he was no different -- except that he was able to add his fame and fortune to the mix in order to either buy off parents or buy his freedom. If it walks like a molester and talks like a molester and acts like a molester, IT'S A MOLESTER. If anybody who's standing beside MJ put your creepy neighbor down the street in the place of him and said the creepy neighbor has sleepovers with other people's children (and I think a LOT of these sleepovers were either before he had his own, or when his own [bought] children were very young), if the creepy neighbor was feeding them "Jesus juice" (wine), if the creepy neighbor had a yard just ripe for attracting young children, if the creepy neighbor had security cameras outside his bedroom and a secret room off the bedroom where he would go with these children... the creepy neighbor would be a molester. However, somehow put this fake boy-man in the same position and he's innocent as the pure-driven snow. I don't understand where people's brains go when celebrity is involved in so many questionable instances.

PJTP: Okay, is it just me overreacting? I'm leaving tomorrow to see my sister. That's the good part. However, it wasn't until after I told my mom about me going that she reminded me of my sister's stepson's dog. Damn Dog (DD) has a helluva history. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many people DD had bitten. I'd say I KNOW about at least 20 people. However, she and her husband (I think mostly the husband, but now sis is in on the excuses) keep saying stuff like, "She just bites strangers as they come in the house." Um, NO. She bit my SIL while she was visiting -- had already been there a few days -- as she was helping my sister bring in groceries. She has also rushed people at their cabin -- outside -- and bitten them in the driveway. She bit my cousin while he was building their fence after he'd been there for days. Tore his jeans! She's bitten friends. She's bitten strangers. She's bitten family. A couple years ago my sister and I were literally planning on how to dump the dog at the pound whne they moved to their new house, with the hopes that her husband and stepson would believe she got lost and ran away. They have a muzzle for the beast, but the son (who's 13) won't keep it on her. After I had booked and paid for my flight, I remembered why I never have gone there. Because I know that, with this dog's history and THEIR history of not doing anything about her, if she bit me I'd stomp her into the dirt. And we're not talking a little ankle-biter -- she's about a 45-50 pound dog. Maybe more. I think my sister said their dog is a bit taller than mine, and mine is 48 pounds. So the other day I was telling her something needs to be done with the dog. I had hoped it would go with the boy's mother, like they did when my parents went to visit last month. No can do as the mom will be out of town. Then I said maybe the dog can go with the guys to the cabin for the 4th (we're not going), and now she says that there's a problem with that too. SOOO.... we're gonna be stuck with this dog that bites, I'm ALREADY getting stressed about the potential troubles, and she's getting somewhat shitty with me now saying to quit "harping" on it. I wrote her back and said I wouldn't feel the need to "harp" if it wasn't for the fact that I know she's bitten SO many people (and these are just the cases I know about). She claims the dog will be caged from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. I also requested she be muzzled when she's not caged. Frankly I'm surprised somebody hasn't sued them. So... overreacting? To be honest, I'm more concerned about the trouble this will cause than the bite itself. The fact that they absolutely take NO responsibility for this dog just boggles the mind, but nothing's too good for sonny boy (as far as daddy is concerned). Apparently friends and family be damned.

They jack up the prices on whatever is popular at the moment. Remember when chicken was cheap? Then people started eating it for health reasons and the price went up. Then skirt steak (i.e. fajitas) was DIRT cheap because it was pretty much considered throwaway, and then fajitas got popular and the price went way up. Same thing with fish at one time. Now salad.
