Way to go, Jeri68! Congrats!

Hi, Barijoy - The hospital where I had the surgery has a support group. That support group is ok but I learned the hospital's other office also has a support group. The lead for that group is very positive, energetic, and great at getting everyone involved in the conversation (if they want to be). Luckily, each support group meets 1x/month on different days. When I looked for other support groups, each one seemed to be associated with a hospital vs. independent offices/practices. I was listening to podcasts re: gastric surgery and I could have sworn they interviewed a health coach but I'll have to go back and check. Hospitals just don't have the resources for a more comprehensive approach. I feel they leave us "hanging" abit and we have to make our own way. It can also be challenging because everyone's journey is different. That's it for now

I really like the comment from Cindi Augustine. I agree there's not enough post-op support or preparation for the post-op life. I attend support group meetings, which are good, but I'm looking for more. I started at 245lbs and now at 188lbs, surgery was August 2024. Sometimes you don't need a doctor, nutritionist, or therapist... just someone who can help you pull everything together. Maybe that's a health coach? Not sure how to find one. Thoughts?

Hey! I'm in the same boat, as far as weight loss. I'm now having trouble trying not to snack at bedtime. I'm also trying not to graze over the holidays. Trying to either not eat or find healthier choices. Sometimes I just want a taste of something. Thoughts?

Congratulations to everyone for what you've achieved and what we know you can achieve! I'm 61 and had my surgery August 20, 2024. The weight has been coming off and I've been exercising regularly (Orange Theory Fitness), taking walks, walking the dog, line dancing. The pre-and-post surgery fast can be a challenge but I think it prepares you for next stages. I'm still eating about 2oz/meal. I'm definitely in an exploratory stage as far as playing around with foods and understanding when is too much. I returned to a habit of snacking before bed by eating a small piece of cheese or an ounce of nuts... that was definitely the wrong idea. I paid for that by feeling very uncomfortable. I kicked that habit to the curb quickly. So I'm working on eating dinner earlier and making applesauce the snack. I'm open to ideas. We've got this!

Yes, I'm 60 and had my gastric sleeve surgery last week. Currently in the full liquid phase. Looking for support in my area while preparing to return to work in a couple weeks.

Weakness and physical symptoms during pre-op diet
sal1107 replied to CrazyDog&CatLady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, 'CrazyDogandCatLady", I had the same feeling. Being a diabetic, I think it was more pronounced given I had to watch sugar levels. I had my surgery August 20. I experienced these feelings during pre-and-post Op period. During this post-Op period, I'm currently in the full liquid phase. I'm looking to see if re-introducing soups makes a difference. If anyone is a diabetic, be sure to monitor your sugar levels during these phases.
