OK, now I am confused. I specifically asked Louise about laxatives and she said to take just that dose three days before and no others. You took them every day, LovingmeForever?

Donna, it is the same, but the following was included in the email I received: In reviewing your information, you will need to be on a five day preop diet, consisting of liquids, in order to prepare for surgery. Please review the attached preop instructions but follow them for FIVE days. I think you are only three days because your BMI is under 40. Mine is 43, I think.

    July Sleevers

NewmrsL, my birthday is August 24 also! Happy birthday my fellow Virgo sleever! I have been trying to figure out how much weight I might be able to lose in time leading up to my day! LOL
  6. I totally understand what you are saying, but I also think you need to cut yourself some slack. The fact that you are human and can't do all of the things you know intellectually that you should does not mean that you are not competent at your job. Nor does it mean that you are hypocritical. I would assume that even after you counsel and work with patients, some of them are able to do what you counsel and others are not. The human factor is indeed significant. Congrats to you for doing what is necessary to take care of yourself. Look at it his way: when the weight is gone, the patients won't know how you did it. All they will know if that their dietitian is slim and trim, so she must know what she is talking about!

I should have stated that that is the case for our doctor. Obviously, other doctors have different processes regarding liquids.

    Almanza

No, it was Louise. Based on what I read (it has been a while, so I could be mistaken), three days is the minimum for liquids and it goes up to 14 days, depending on BMI.

Yes! I, thankfully, have lots of projects and travel for work until then. It seemed so far away but now feels like it is right around the corner. Of course, I would like for it to be tomorrow! LOLI start liquids on July 4, I think, and fly out on July 8.

Johanna, you are down 17 pounds since June 7??? OMG! Congrats. I have purposely avoided all of those negative forums. Lots of people have given postive testimonials about Dr. Almanza, so I focus on that. Beyond that, the only consideration, I think, is the risk that comes with any operation. Frankly, I have had a far more serious operation than this before, so I know all will be well.

I am looking forward to having surgery with him on July 9. I have absolutely no concerns. Hey Donna! See you there!

    Gastric Sleeve At Age 20

I think you can expect to have some loose skin but you are young enough that it should not be too dramatic. Also, if you haven't lost and gained large amounts of weight repeatedly, it probably will be better. I am posting a link to this vlog because this guy (RobCubed) was 367 and has lost 185 pounds. I think he is about 30. He talks about loose skin in a couple of posts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMoXey6cl5k&list=UU3BjgjTrU9ZZs_m5n6eJ4xg&index=1&feature=plcp Good luck!
  14. I will be posted in a few weeks, so perhaps someone who has gone through this already will respond to your question. I have seen posts fro several people, however, who indicated that it took a few weeks for them to feel "normal" again. It probably is partly the result of undergoing major surgery and having a major reduction in your intake of calories and nutrients.

    Don't Hate

Mama, I am sorry you had that experience. That is rude, obnoxious and ignorant. Clearly, that person does not realize that Medical Tourism to Mexico is nothing new. Nor does s/he realize that Mexico has some of the leading physicians in terms of bariatric care. I don't think you need to justify your reasons for going to Mexico. I have read the posts of a couple of people who were approved by their insurance and still decided to go to Mexico because they felt great about the doctors there. Whether you did it because of finances or simply because you are Enlightened enough to know that you can get great care there, it is your business. I had my lapband done in the U.S. with an outstanding physican. I paid cash for it. Guess what? It didn't work. Now I am happy to go to Mexico to have it yanked out and have myself sleeved. Sadly, I just saw another post that seemed designed to stir up drama about some docs. My sense is that folks either have very little going on in their lives OR are the people always causing trouble. Next time someone steps to you with that foolishness, just respond: Get outta my face!

    Feeling Great!

Congrats on your weight loss. 40 pounds in three weeks is great!
  17. OMG! I am sorry that you had this experience, but I am so appreciative for your post. I have been guffawing.

    At The Airport...

You will be fine. I know it is frightening, but I (and lots of other people, obviously) fly a lot and have never had a problem other than a delay for weather or to repair a mechanical issue. If you feel anxious, just go to sleep once you get settled into your seat.
