:wink2: I just went for my preop dr visit and the one thing he stressed over and over is that if you are vomiting call your doctor right away. It has too many things that can affect your band. I would call right away, maybe you can get a sooner appt and have some liquid taken out, I am sure you would feel it was worth the 3 hour drive.:wink2: Let us know what happens...Pam92

My surgery date is 12/9. I have been using Jenny Craig for my diet until surgery and probably afterwards also. We just took the 1200 calorie food sheets for different weeks and took out the Snacks between meals and it went to 1000 calories a day. It seemed to work for me. If you cannot afford Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers is a good one to use also. I am also excited and nervous about the diet. I have been so good on my Jenny diet and I get weighed on Monday morning. I think I am going to have a meal of something I want to before surgery. It will probably mean a weight gain at Jenny's but maybe not. We will see. I have lost around 40 pounds now. Thanks for listening, sometimes I wonder if anyone is really out there. I don't think I have had a reply from anyone. :wink2: Well good luck and God bless ya!!!! Pam92

Hi you sound like you could be me!! I am 58, with diabetes, high blood pressure along with about 10 other things. I am scheduled to be banded this Wednesday, 12/9. My doctor said this would affect my diabetes and high blood pressure, but more slowing than gastric bipass. I am excited and still nervous. I feel like I just don't have a handle on the diet portion of it all. I am going to call my nutrionist on Monday at talk to her. Hope it helps.:wink2:

how bad is the post op pain?
Pam92 replied to Foxyroxy2b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW! This got a little heavy in the emotion department. I think pain is different for each person. You cannot expect someone to tell you how you are going to feel. Just go into it with a positive thought and you will be fine. What ever happens, remember you CAN DO IT , -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Pam92 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
 Hey this is great. Having someone to talk to who understands what is it like to lose weight at 50 +. My surgery is scheduled for Dec 9th. I am nervous about it. I am sure it will be okay, but have been reading some stories in other sites and it is a bit scarey. Any suggestions on how to prepare both mentally and physically? Thanks for letting me join in. Company asked to Reschedule Surgery so it's more convenient for them
Pam92 replied to Danimal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
 Boy that is typical for HR / Payroll departments. I worked in HR and payroll for the last 10 -15 years of my employment. I am retired now. It seems that since you work in HR or Payroll you are expected to give up your personal needs and put the companies and other employee's needs in front of your own. No WAY! I think what your wife did was the exactly correct thing to do. If you want to look up the labor laws go to: www.texaslaborlaws.com . Look under Time off, and Family Medical Leave (FMLA). Besure to check out FMLA. That is a Federal Law that they must honor. Let me know how it goes. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep on...Keep'n on. Pam:thumbup: -
Hi there December Banders! My surgery is going to be done on 12/9. As you all are, I am excited and nervous. I feel I am ready to do what it takes to get to my goal of 150. I have a great support system in place, my daughter, my husband and a couple of friends who know what I am doing. I am still not sure what to buy at the store for the procedure, both before and after surgery. I bought some popsicles and I am going to buy some protein powder soon. Not sure about mushy stuff. Well I hope I can help some of you and I am glad I have my "December Banders" to go to for support too. Thanks, Pam

Fear of not being able to stick with Liquid Diet for 2 wks, help!
Pam92 replied to michelleintheoc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I am going to keep using Jenny Craig if possible. I am only going to buy one lunch or one dinner and use it for both meals. If I do that I will still have food left over. My JC rep said she would work with me. I will still be able to go in once a week and weigh, order food when I am able to eat again. I have my dr appt the first week in dec before surgery and I am taking my JC food list in and check with Dr. Patching to make sure there isn't anything on there I shouldn't have. If I get any more info on the food I will let you know what I find out. You should check with your JC rep, and explain the diet to her for our first few weeks and then you two can come up with a game plan for you. After that maybe take it to the doctor and review it with him. (??? Couldn't hurt ???) Stay in touch... Pam:rolleyes2: -
 I have also attempted to go into the chat room with no luck. There has not been anyone in there at all. Is there a secret code to get in??? Please let us know when we can go there and there will be others to chat. Thanks for the help.

Fear of not being able to stick with Liquid Diet for 2 wks, help!
Pam92 replied to michelleintheoc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am scheduled for my surgery on 12/9 also. AND I am also using Jenny Craig for preop dieting. I think you shouldn't have any problems with the liquid diet. If you do go see your JC counselor and talk to her about it. Also, if you are having problems you can always call your doctor and tell them you are hungry and ask what they can suggest. From what I have read here the Chicken Broth protien drink is suppose to be good, just sip it warm. If you need to crunch something, you could bite and chew a sugar free pop. I think you best bet is to call your doctor though. I am sure they will have some great suggestions on how to handle it. I hope this helps. Good luck! -
Hello all. I am scheduled to have my surgery on 12/9. Dr. Patching is my doctor. He has been really great so far and I don't expect it to change. I am nervous about the pre op diet. What do you eat to have 1000 cal a day? Any suggestions? Is there anyone in Sacramento out there? Let me know how you are doing...:mad2:

HapiCat: My first reaction to your questions was "for sure switch!" But, like our fellow banders said, you should make an appt with the local doc and make sure you like him and he has a good manner with you. You don't want someone who makes you feel uncomfortable. If all goes well, I think it is just good sense to switch docs. You can get your med records sent to the new doctor and that should help get things up to date. Good luck to you. I hope everything goes well. I am proud that you are going to take care of you !!!:bored:

Surgery Date Set! Decembr 9th!!
Pam92 replied to Irishbookworm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, my surgery date is 12/9 also. (Small world ! LOL) I am a little nervous, you know the unknown and all that. But from reading these sites I have learned a lot and it has eased my worry alot. Good luck to you. I hope all goes well. Pam -
Hello there. I have been reading this site's postings for a couple of weeks now and it really has been a help. I keep a notebook close,so when I read something I want to remember, check out or ask about I write it down. I am scheduled for surgery on 12/9. I am a little nervous about it, but not too much. I am in my late 50's. I have been using Jenny Craig and have lost 31 pounds so far. After speaking to my Dr's office I can continue to use that until surgery (just required to go to 1000 or 1100 calories for two weeks before surgery). Well good luck to you and I hope all will go well for you. Pam :bored:

 I have several Large pills that I take in the morning and at night when I go to bed. What have you been told about taking large meds post op times. I take alot of pills. I don't think they will go down through the little hole in my stomach. :scared2: Any suggestions?? Thanks for the help. Pam92

I have my surgery date for 12/9. I am excited and a bit nervous. I was thinking this wasn't going to hurt alot, but from what I have read I think I need to think that over! I went today and got a couple of little plates for my food, some small spoons to be sure I am not taking to big of bites. I also bought some chicken broth. Not sure what else to get. I have my appt with the bariatric coordinator tomorrow and I am hoping she can answer some questions. Hope all goes well, I will be looking for you on the blog site. God bless ya !!

Dr. Steven C. Patching, Sacramento, CA
Pam92 replied to Maggies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live in Sacramento. I have Dr. Patching as my doctor for my banding procedure and follow-up. I have complete faith in him. He has been very good to me in my journey. He has worked with me, answered my questions and made me feel very confortable with him. I would recommend him to anyone. :w00t: Pam (Surgery 12/9) -
