What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!

Ok I have a couple to tell you about. 1. My ex-husband, now you have to know, when we met and were married I weight about 125 pounds. After having 2 children, I had gained alot of weight and I mean alot. I was in the store one day shopping for some pants and a few shirts, I pulled a pair of pants off the rack and ask him, (who I thought loved me unconditionally) honey what do you think of these pants, all he did was looked at me and replied, MOOOOO. I was so hurt that I put the pants back on the rack, started crying, and left the store. 2. OK, now my ex-hubsand is remarried and remarried a woman that is bigger than I am. We all have myspace, (this is how we mostly talk about the kids), well I was informed to go to my ex-husbands moms page and look at what was on there, so I do, and his new wife had put a picture of this woman that must have weighed atleast 400 pounds, with her new groom that was probably bigger than that, eating a whole wedding cake with this written under it, Stacy and Mark must have gotten married already cause here is there picture and look at this, they are eating the cake. Get this, my husband now, is 6'1, nicely built and weighs about 180. It hurts when people make fun of you because you are different, and shamely I did it when i was in high school just like most of everyone else. I now wish I could go back and change the way I treated overweight people knowing now how bad it hurt them.

Serious problems with the lap band....

I too am a healthcare provider. I have been a CNA for almost 12 yrs. now. Since I've worked at a Nursing Home, I haven't seen anyone with complications from the lapband. I have however weighed the pros and cons on this procedure and the pros far out weigh any cons that I have heard or read about. Growing up I was actually underweight. When I met my ex-hubsand, I started gaining my weight. When I got pregnant with our 1st child, I gained over 100lbs. I never lost the weight from having her, guess I was too secure with my married life. 2 years after my 1st born, I had a little boy. By the time I had him, I weight around 230lbs. Never felt the need to lose the weight after him either. The day my ex-hubsand left, I weighed 300lbs and was so unhappy at where my life was going. Let's see, he left the last thrusday in June and by the new year, i had lost down to 218lbs. All on my own, plus my freind depression helped me quite a bit.lol. Since then, I have remarried and wonderful man and have gained back up to right at 300lbs. I'm sick and tired of not being able to get out in the yard and play with my kids because 1. my back starts hurting after just a few minutes of standing, 2. I can't do hardly anything because i get out of breath too easily and i guess my having asthma dosent help that part out any at all, and 3. I just don't have the energy to get up and run around the yard with them. That is what brings tears to my eyes. I'm so ready to have this surgery done and then start dropping the pounds and feeling good about myself once again. But most of all, give my kids the mom they deserve, (the kind of mom that can play and run with them) and to finally be a real wife to my new hubsand that i have only been married to for a little over 4 months but been with for over 2 years. OK if this is TMI, I'm sorry I really am but I don't like looking at my body fully clothed much less naked and my hubsand isn't going to even get the chance to see me naked until this weight comes off and i feel comfortable in my own skin. So in 18 days, I start my new journey and I am so excited about it.

    Tube during surgery??

you will be under when the put the tube in your throat. The tube is used I believe to help with your breathing and also for a balloon like thingy they have to use. I'm not exactly sure what it does to be honest. I haven't had my surgery yet but i have had surgeries in the past and the tube was used for better breathing.

Live Lap Band Surgery on Youtube

I am so glad I come across this post. As seen as I saw "Lapband surgery on Youtube", I went straight there, typed it in and my hubsand and I watched it. I do feel a little more at ease since now I know what will be going on. However, I do still have those little butterflies floating around inside. Thanks to the person who posted this for us to see.

    8/18/08 is the date!!

I believe we all have that thought in the back of our minds. We have all tried everything else and even if it did work, the weight always came back. I have heard of ALOT of success stories with the lapband and I'm sure that you and I will be one of them talking about how great it worked for us.

    butterflies in my belly

Ok, so it's now less than a month until I am banded. I am really excited that I am finally having this done. I had been wanting this done for about 4 or 5 years now, but never had it done because I saw no use in it being with my ex-hubby. Now I have a wonderful hubsand and wonderful children and I'm ready to get my life back on track. Only thing is, I'm really nervous about this surgery. I have had several surgeries in my life and I can only remember 1 time I was this nervous and I was only about 15 or 16 at the time. So, if there is anyone out there that can help me settle these butterflies in my stomach about blood clots and all the other stuff the doctors have to warn you about before you have the surgery, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks:scared2:

    butterflies in my belly

yeah, my main worry also is not waking up once I go under. I have 4 kids and a hubsand that I love and adore. Now that my personal life is finally moving foward, I don't want to leave it all behind. ERRRR...someone help me with this. Calm me down, plz.

a whole new life with the ones I love

Well, I am 1 month and 2 days away from being banded. I have been looking through some of the pictures of before and after of memberss of this site. The more I looked, the more excited I become. Although I am so excited to be having this surgery, I am also a little afraid of anything that can go worng. Nothing new for any surgery that you may go through. I have not always been FAT. As a matter of fact, up unitl I got married (the first time) and had my 1st child, I was actually skinny. I guess I got comfy with my (now) ex-hubsand and didn't care to take off the weight while I was with him. Now I am married again to a WONDERFUL man and together we share 4 children. 2 boys and 2 girls. Ranging ages 7 to 16. I want to be able to get out in the yard and help our youngest son learn to play football and help our youngest daughter with her cheerleading. But as for now, I don't have the energy to do this, and my back is always hurting, (more so when I stand for any length of time). I have only been married for a little over 4 months to my new husband. I am so ashamed of myself for being so big now that I am afraid to let him see me without any clothes on, when we make love, it's always with the lights out. I guess anyone that has ever gone through is knows what I am talking about. I don't like to see myself naked much less let the man I am so in love with see me at my weakest. I know that the joruney ahead will not be the easiest and most likely not the funnest. But I am up for whatever I may have to endure to get to where I can actually look myself in the mirror and not be disappointed with what I see and not hang me head down in dispare. I can't wait to be able to get outside and give my children what they have been deprived of all these yrs. A mom that can run and play with them.

Hello everyone! My name is Stacy. I have my surgery date for the lap band set for August 18. I'm very excited about starting things over and having my weight under control. I was hoping that anyone out there that reads this that has had the surgery already would let me in on what to expect. If anyone out there can help me out, I'd greatly appreiciate it. Thanks
