MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH

Ok, so with my first visit to my Doctor we discussed my smoking. Then, I was smoking a pack a day, now I am able to make a pack last a day and a half. Just wondering if anyone else out there smokes and if my smoking will complicate the surgery?

you said it brother! My marriage vows said in sickness and in health and i am so thankful that my husband is going to be there beside me 100 percent of the way. If he wasn't, i'm not sure i could go through this. I don't know anyone on here personally but i will be there for anyone that needs me. will be banded on august 18!!!!

I hate when I read about someone that is doing something to better their lives and the lives of those around them and they can't get any support from their family. I don't know what to say about your husband not being there for you, but maybe, just maybe, he has good reason not to want to be there. Maybe like the other lady said, her husband was scared to see her like that so maybe your husband is scared to see you that way also. You never know. If worst comes to worse, I know that we are not your family but you have not only mine but the support of everyone here on this site. I'm sure your monthly vistor will be the last thing on your mind while in the hosptial..Good news for me is, I don't have to worry about that anymore.

OK everyone, today makes it exactly 2 weeks until I start my weight loss journey. That's right, I have 2 weeks until I am banded. I was just wondering, does anyone know how long it takes to have the surgery done? I watched it being done on youtube, (which was really cool) and it only took like an hour to watch. So, I'm thinking 45 minutes to an hour to perform it? Anyone wanna let me know how far off I am? Also, if you don't mind, can someone tell me what I need to take to the Hospital with me? I'm staying overnight so I'm thinking I'll need to bring something. Good luck to everyone out there that is joining the banding community this month, it's going to be a hot month!!!!!:smile:

OMG!!!! I can't believe that a Doctor would treat his own patient that way. In a bad mood or not, he did your surgery and he should have took the time to make sure it was nothing to do with your band. I'd call his office and ask for his voicemail tell him who you are, remind him of what he did and how it made you feel, then ask him if he remembers the Doctors oath he took? I'm not one for doing something to hurt another person, but I'd make sure everyone within 100 miles of this doctor knows exactly what kind of a doctor he is. Now, I know of a Doctor in Alabama that was something like this doctor. He had no good bedside manners and was slapping his nurses on the face and even threw one across the room. I believe he was hitting some of his patients also. This Doctor is no longer practicing and had his lisciense taken away from him. You said something about no proof of malpractice, well in my opinion, if you are a doctor and you flat out refuse to listen to your patient and then not want to give them anything to help them with pain, (especially after surgery) that is malpractice, he didn't know what was wrong with you. It could have been anything, could have been something as severe gas pains to something fatal, and had it been fatal, he would have been at fault. You have the nurses that witnessed it, id have them to right a statement of what happened that night. Also about the techs just standing in your doorway laughing and you and the other people on the intercom laughing at you, they could and should lose their liscense. I don't care who you are, you could be a junkie, a drunk, or anything else, when you walk into a hospital, you are suppose to feel safe and secure with the doctor(s) and Nurse(s) that are suppose to care for your medical needs whether they think something is wrong with you or not!!! Please, don't stop looking for an attorney to help you, I'm sure somewhere out there you will be able to find one. You keep it up and you will walk out of a court room owning that hospital for the lack of care. I hope you are able to find a Doctor that you can and will feel safe and secure with soon. If you ever need to talk or vent about anything just give me a hollar.

Sorry to hear that your family is supportive of your decision to have the lap band. I know that is it hard to make this decsison especially when you have people close to you that don't agree with it. I know this first hand because my dad isn't totally in agreement with me on my decision. Sometimes no matter how much it hurts knowing they are against you, you have to do what you think is best.

Ok This is my Story. My name is Stacy and I just turned 30 a couple weeks ago. I have been overweight for about 10 yrs now. I have 4 kids beautiful children, and have been married to the most wonderful supportive man any woman can ask for for a little over 4 months now. I'm sick and tired of all the stares from skinny people that think all she must do is sit around and eat all day when they (in reality) know nothing about my life). I have been on so many diets these past 10 yrs I stopped counting. Nothing ever seemed to work for more than a couple months at a time. Over the counter diet pills, prescribed diet pills, weight watchers, crash diets and diets that made no sense at all, yep, I have done it all. I'm well past tired of either looking in the mirror with disgust or looking the other way when I pass a mirror. I want to be able to hold my head up high and and feel good about myself once again. I am tired of telling my kids, "mommy dont have the energy to get out in the yard and play, let's do something inside the house, or hoping for rain on a beautiful summers day so I don't have to get into a bathing suit and get out in the pool. I want to be able to be a "WIFE" to my hubsand in every way and not always have the thought in the back of my head, he can do so much better than a fat short woman like me. I don't want to have to back away from him anymore with the lights turned on when he touches me. I want to enjoy my marriage as much as I should be able to. That is why, after 5 years of chickening out and coming up with reason not to, on August 18, 2008 I am finally having the Lap Band surgery done. I have to travel about 2 1/2 hours West of where I live to have it done, but the distance doesn't matter to me. I know this needs to be done and I am overly excited about finally having it done. I know the band will not work by itself that I too have to do my part and I am more than willing to do my part. I am finally going to get my life back on track and be the happy woman I once was when I was 19 yrs. old. If there is anyone out there that would like to help me through these next 2 weeks and 3 days while I am counting down to my surgery, I assure you, I will not turn you away. I don't care if it's that you want to share with me what you went through before and after the surgery, or if it's just you have butterflies in your stomach while waiting for your surgery date. I would love to talk to someone about what everyone here on this site is about to go through, is going through, or has gone through, "the biggest chance in our lives, getting it back and taking over. :scared2::cursing:

I have heard "One can never have to many friends" I guess this is true huh. You didn't sound to elementary, now if you have put check yes or no, that really would have been elementary. lol I'm soon to be banded myself and looking for some online friends to chat with about it.
