  1. ALoud I feel your pain and boy will I benefit from the band I can see it already! I have the same issue late night eating nad being too tired to work out not a good combo! Do the ebst you can and I think your idea of an am workout is a good one. My Mom offered to buy me a good treadmill for my home I am going to take her up on that offer!

I am still on the journey myself my bf has some concerns but I let him know I am doing this for my quality of life back pains, pain in my feet, being too tired to do things I use to like and I need the control I cannot seem to achieve on my own. So I understand fully! Keep researching and keep posting! There's great info on here!


  3. I am joining this group late in the game, but I really need to get motivated. I am not happy that I am not approved to swim, but I can do light exercise. So I am on my way to the gym to get on the bike.

    Where is everyone. Are you all still working out everyday?

    WELCOME, WELCOME!!!!! I am still trying to get something in everyday. Sunday I went to a football game and had to hike to the stadium:eek: I am still finding it hard to get to the gym but I am living for the weekends where I can get 1-2 hours in to make up. Welcome again!!!:smile2:


  4. How are all my sistas doing??? Turkey Day is tomorrow!? Where did the time go?! Seriously the year flew by! WOW! I changed my Dr.'s appointment to Dec. 15th so I'll post an update on that. In terms of working out its been here and there but I did go on Sunday and did 15 mins on the eliptical honestly I couldnt do anymore once upon a time I could do 1 hour cardio is so important! Oh well going to keep moving forward!!!

  5. Thank you, Aprilapple for starting this forum. I'm new to this site as of Nov 22. I'd been thinking about WLS for the last few years and when I got to my heaviest at 297...I said that's it...and that was in the early part of 2008. I finally, meet with a surgeon this fall and I'm in the 2nd month of my 6 month diet and my nutritionist and psyc eval are both scheduled for Jan 09....so, I'm on the path. I live in central PA but, will be banded in Maryland. Feel free to email or pm me.

    Hi there!!! Welcome!! I am still researching myself my Dr.'s appt is Dec. 15th I pretty much have my mind made up I have done a lot of things to try and lose this weight and I have not so slowly (lol) regained the 45.6 pounds I lost 2 years ago and its time I am done with tight clothing, being out of breath, and feeling tired it seems like a great tool to achieve long term weight loss!     Had to check in and thank you all for your good wishes and prayers...they work!

    I am 5 days out from surgery and doing very well. I'm drinking my liquids / Protein and feeling good. I've taken at least a 1 mile walk each day, and feeling stronger each day. I'm no longer taking any Tylenol or aspirin during the day, but I do still use a painkiller at night - I tend to sleep on my side, and that's still a little uncomfortable.

    I've lost about 10 lbs so far since the surgery, and not feeling 'true' hunger at all. The head hunger is a totally different story...I think it's because I would normally be eating SO MUCH that my head thinks I'm starving. I LOVE the Isopure Protein - it's a clear liquid, and has 40+ gms of protein per bottle. Of course, it took me 3 days to go through a bottle (following doc's orders not to eat too much) but since it's a little on the pricey side, I don't mind too much.

    I'm having NO trouble with my incisions - one of the smaller ones seems to have "opened", but it looks like a paper cut, so I'm not too worried. The one covering my port was hard to find at first - they are not puffy or anything, but a gentle touch around it let me know where the port was. My DH says I'm a little bruised around that area, so that confirmed it.

    I'm doing great and wouldn't go back for anything in the world. Gotta update my ticker - wishing you all the absolute best!!:)

    My eating has been way out of control lately! My first appointment is Tuesday the 19th I met with the Dr. and the nutritionist. I haven’t really thought much about it I am just going through the motions so to speak. Did anyone else experience this kind of ravenous like eating before surgery or before their first appointment? I am thinking maybe its nerves and some anxiety about really getting closer to making up my mind about surgery. I know I am not the best when it comes to expressing my feelings so I think I am eating as a way to deal… What about you? Any changes in eating patterns as you got closer to surgery:unsure:?


  8. WOW Ebony it'll be here before you know it!!! Good plan with the gym I think that will work for me too I really know the land is a tool so I have to get back into a real workout groove before surgery so it isn't a total overall all at once with diet and exercise you know!

    Hope everyone is doing well. I plan to join this Friday after work and go to my old gym Saturday and Sunday boyfriend is working this weekend *whew* :thumbup:

    Ebony- I had a lazy week and weekend too but this is a new week! Wow your date is really coming up fast! Are you excited??!!!:cheers2:

    I made up my mind to join another gym:mad: I drive about 20 miles to catch a bus to work (I work in DC) and the bus takes a little over an hour and I just cannot get myself to the gym after a hour plus ride on the bus then a 30-40 drive in traffic in the evening. So the town where I catch my bus has a community run gym and they have Les Mills classes like my home gym so I am going to bite the bullet and join that way I get there by 4:45 and can take 5:30 classes and get at least 3 days in. If I get the band I need a workout plan already in place so I can do well so this I think will help! :yesnod: I am going to keep my other membership as well for my weekends and days off. This will be $88 a month just for the gym but in the end it will be worth it. Right now I am only getting in on Saturdays and Sundays and that is just not enough. I feel good by the time I get to my car its just the extra 30-40 minutes I take to drive in traffic home that kills my energy and make me say forget the gym so this takes away that excuse.

    I have a new boyfriend :lol: he's sweet and so nice so I blew off my workout this weekend :D I told him next time we are hitting the gym he can stand to lose some weight and he works out everyday and has lost 130 pound by just working out over the past year :eek: Its still very, very new but he was the first person I told I was considering the surgery he sounds supportive and that is good he's a sweetheart and I'd hate to have to kick him to the curb :blink: A/w I'll check in again soon!

    Happy Sunday to ya! I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend. I was banded on 10/30. Everything went very smoothly. I wasn't and haven't been in any pain. Just a lot of soreness, like I've been going a million crunches. I was released on Friday afternoon, and I was feeling so good that I even took my 3 yr old trick-or-treating. The walking was good for me. It was nice to stretch my legs, plus I had some gas that needed to be worked out.....LOL I'm so exicited to be on my way to a slimmer me. YAY!:smile2:

    THAT IS SO GREAT!!!!! Oh man if I do this I hope I can bounce back like you! Pain is my biggest fear right about now! :thumbup: I am looking forward to your updates!!


  11. Hey all, I had my surgery 9-29-08, I am doing good with the healing and the only problem I am having is the gas..I am now on mushies, canned items, I am not really cheating. I get my first fill 11-21-08. Now that I am healed I feel no restriction and I can eat more that the cup of food every one is talking about...Has anyone had this problem before. I feel like this was a waste of my time and my insurance. Will this stop once I get a Fill???? Please help... Gigi:blink::thumbup:

    Hi there! I am still just in the research phase but I see a lot of post and blogs that talk about 'bandster hell' which is that time period you are in post surgery but before the first fill. So don't stress what you are going through is common and will level out as you get to the 'sweet spot' in terms of the right fill amount. Glad you are going well. I heard the gas x strips and the liquid gas drops are good for gas so try that!


  12. >>>>So - 20 minutes on the 'ArcTrainer' - a different type of elliptical trainer. I felt it in my legs and my butt. Exactly where I WANT to feel it, so I'll continue with that machine. I'll also alternate with the other elliptical that involves your arms so I get a balanced workout.

    My gym got a few of those they seem so clunky maybe b/c I am so short but did try it once and it worn me out!!!


  13. gurl, ill join u! i started doing the eliptical 10min on monday and thought i was going to die!!! but tuesday i got back on it and stayed 27min!yay!! today i stayed on 30 min and feel sore. ive been exercising usually 4-5 days a week but the eliptical has brought me to new horizons i must say.lets just say i haven't been on the t-mill or the bike this week but still been doing my crunches and toning. much love!

    GREATTTT WELCOME, WELCOME TRINA!!! Girl trust me in about 30 days Lippy (as I call her) will be your new best friend she gives you twice the calorie burn for 1/2 the time as the treadmill so its a get machine to workout on! Please check in often!! :thumbup:


  14. Hey Ladies!!! Ebony I didn't realize how fast your date was getting here!! WOW you must be excited!!!

    I mised the gym all weekend! I had chapter meeting Saturday morning, a date Saturday evening and then we meet again for brunch. Had a great time but here I go again with my dating vs. dieting mindset I gotta leanr to fit them both in. The weather is decent today its a lil overcast but not too hot or too cold so i'll got for a walk. I need to hit the gym tonight even if it just for the elipitical for 30 minutes. I didn't cook this weekend either so I need to get on that today too. :thumbup:


  15. Morning Sistas!:mellow: It was a crazy week didn't make it to the gym and I have a bunch of cases that hit me ith deadline all week. Its an excuse but it is what it is; until it isnt:tt2: I did make it to the gym Saturday for step class and I am going ina few for body pump and maybe body flow we'll see I was whopped last week after class:angry: A/w aside from that I am doing better with getting my food back on track.

  16. Hey ladies how are you doing? I have skipped Mon, Tue, and today I am sure. It is too cold to walk outside and really Monday I was sore from my weekend workout. TOM is on but thats just an excuse I use. :0( I always have such a hard time juggling dating and dieting... I've been talking to this new guy and my focus is on that so I am slipping and trippin' I will get back on track this Saturday my energy is really low during TOM anyway and my weekdays are sooo busy. He is a trooper he gets up at 5am to workout! I am thinking Monday, Wed, Friday I should do an early workout and come to work late b/c I need to get at least 2 days in during the week... Ahhh well we'll see!!!

  17. LastOption - I'm still here with you!

    Friday - usual walk in the am with DD and DDog - just about 1 mile. Every day, this is the minimum that I do. Lunchtime at work, I walk another 1 - 1.25 miles depending on the weather.

    Saturday - hauled wood with DH for our new fireplace. He got some salvaged wood from work, brought it home in his truck, and we hauled it around the yard and cut it up (gotta love a chop saw). It was heavy - 6 x 6 pieces about 15 feet long, some 4 x 10 pieces 15 feet long. It was all hardwood, so it was HEAVY! All that bending and lifting had my legs a little sore.

    Sunday - more wood hauling, plus I got to use the AX! Swinging one of those babies over your head and splitting big chunks of wood is great exercise. I got "Brute Squad" points once I found my groove and started splitting like a pro. Then we hauled wood inside the house (trips up and down the stairs)...I was so tired Sunday night I fell asleep on the couch in DH's arms.:cool2:

    Walked the dog this morning - faster than normal, because it was so COLD outside! Will walk at lunch, but no gym tonight - DD's job is having an open house for family and parents and we have to attend.

    Will check in with more this week...:biggrin:

    Ebony all I can say is :w00t:WOWOWOWOW :mellow: I bet you are sore that sounds like a real workout!!! More power to ya!!!! Its cold in Dc so skipped lunch time workout/walk today. I should go to the gym but I am a little sore from my workout plus it TOM :tt2: boo hisss but I will see how I feel on my way home worst case I will do something on ON Demand or a DVD if I don't do the gym. :wub:

  19. Well I went out last night with some friends for someone's birthday. I had half my meal we went to a Carribean spot and I has jerk chicken and rice and peas and fried plantian.

    A/w I was up late b/c some of the folks came back to stay at my house but I made sure I got to bed so I could be up for Body Pump which is t 9:30pm.

    I am sooooore Body Pump really works body parts you forget you have lol

    I am about to hit the shower and go do the eliptical for a few and the Body Pump.

    Oh also I am finally going to use by spa gift certificate that I got for my birthday back in June! I am going today and maybe going to catch a movie.
