I have alot of head hunger. I'm not hungry at all, but I see the good food in the house and would like to indulge like before, only I know I can't anymore. So I try to do other things.

Hi, I was banded on 9/9/08. I've lost 40 lbs. so far. I lost the first 25 in the first 6 weeks. The first week after surgery, I, too, had no appetite, but I drank none the less because we need to. Then I had pureed foods for a few weeks and then mushy foods for a few weeks. (at first, just 1 tbsp. at a time, then it increased to 1/2 cup. then to 1 cup) Your appetite will come back as you begin eating again. Then you'll wish it didn't. Thus, why we need fills. When you do begin eating, my advice to you would be to never stuff yourself. Eat only until you are content or have satisfied the hunger pain. (and do it s.l.o.w.l.y.) I can't stress that enough. When I eat too fast, it feels like you have your food stuck in your throat at the chest area, and it takes a while for it to go down, or you might throw it up. It takes me a half hour to finish 1 sandwich. I can eat anything I want now. even the things they tell you you'll never be able to eat again like brocolli, or popcorn. (just not as much)I can't have much bread or rice or pasta or potatoes, for these items give me that stuck in the throat feeling after just 2 or 3 bites. The lap band experience for me and most others is a trial and error experience. We learn what we can and can't do as we go along. I believe it is an experience that is different for each person in some ways and alike for everyone in other ways. Nice to meet you all, and God bless. Patty

Carly, I had my lap band on 9/9/08 so we're not far from each other. I am going on my third week and am eating pureed foods. I, too, lost 17 pounds by my 2nd week post op, and have lost 2 more this 3rd week.Isn't the band great?!! I have had no complications or pain either. The first 2 days was tiring, but after that, I healed up pretty quickly. I thank God for that. You're doing great! Keep up the good work. Weight loss surgery is not the easy way out. God bless. Patty
