    May Bandsters~November Chat!

I am so thankful this year that my band will help me from pigging out. I figure if I even sampled everything I wouldn't be able to hold it all so it's going to be freeing. I am planning on eating whatever strikes me as good, knowing it will be such a little bit that I have to make wise and very special choices. Have a great day everyone! :hungry:

    May Bandsters~November Chat!

We all have 'those times' and I have had a few myself. Stick with us and we'll all help each other through them and out the other side a winner. Hope this fill does it for you. I am going for my 4th next month and still am hoping to hit that sweet spot and to get those hiccups or burps or something to tell me to stop eating. :nervous

Sometimes I am just shocked about how close I am and other times I feel like I am treading molasses. Guess we all fell that way. But a great big thank you for noticing ... it sure makes me feel good.:)

Great! It's going to be almost two pounds a week but I'm up for the challenge, too. Off to find my cute ticker.

    May Bandsters~October Chat

I didn't think I'd make it but ... I did !!!!! Can we talk about our next contest? How about January 15th and call it "I have a dream..." (that's Martin Luther Kinds, Jr's birthday) Or anyone have other ideas? Happy Turkey Day to you all, in case I don't get back before then.

What do you say when you get THAT question??

I simply say that I am on a low carb diet, started an exercise program and watching my calories on FitDay.com. That usually starts them asking about FitDay and the problem is skirted without lying. It really isn't anyone's business about the surgery unless you want them to know.

    Lap vs Bypass

Yes most bypass surgeries are done laparoscopically. But, I'd still rather have the lapband. Too many problems with the bypass...too many returns to the hospital for this and that...sometimes very serious. But...everyone has to do what they think best for them.
  10. I'd exercise more from the start and I would start taking Biotin in the hopes that I wouldn't lose any hair. I'd also ask the doc to start me at higher fill doses...but he probably wouldn't do it. I think the difficult part is eating bandster style and portions while waiting for that perfect fill amount.

    Starting point 180?

I think it's great that you want to get the band. Some people don't understand it can be just as hard at 180 to lose weight and keep it off. I was heavier, at 212, but was still called a lightweight. I've lost 50+ pounds in five months, so not so bad with a lower BMI. :clap2:

Travelling for Banding - Packing List

I'd take a small pillow if you will riding back from hospital. You hold it on your tummy to keep things stable. We have one here in Sacramento that gets passed around and we all sign it after we use it. That's all I can think of that's not on your list.

Finally into the 50's...and I think I'll make my Turkey Take Off goal, too. :cheer2: Somehow this seems like a major breakthrough for me and that I am actually going to make it! Now, if my hair would STOP falling out!!! :peep: I am off today to get some Biotin and Folic Acid. Perhaps a knitted scarf out of my hair?

    Hair-less.....

I am not malnourished...I eat a much better diet now than prior to my surgery. Just not the carbs. Granted I don't eat as many calories but I do take my vitamins and protein drinks! It can't be that for me. What about the rest of you hair-losing bandsters? Do you think you are malnourished????
  16. jcbydesign

    Hair-less.....

I am so sorry to hear that you are all shedding...but it sure makes me feel better. I was freaked. :omg: Now it's keep up the balanced diet, take some Biotin (why not?) and save the hair to knit a scarf!

    Hair-less.....

I was feeling guilty thinking I hadn't eaten enough Protein...but how much can you stuff in within our calorie allowance? I think 45-60 is enough but then when the hair begins to make my house look like a sheep dog lives here.... I'll just keep on sweeping up, picking up and brushing off my hair and wait for it to come back...you never know, maybe I'll get a different color or some curls out of this. :biggrin1:

How are you all doing? I think I am going to miss my 20 lb goal by a couple of pounds this time but it's still been a great great motivator. Anyone cooking any Banderlious recipies for Thanksgiving? Here's a delicious recipe I ate at my bandster support group. I also thought that you could get some SF Pie Filling and blend it smoother, than omit the pumpkin and pie spice, add a touch of vanilla or almond and voila! Instant bander style cream pie. Pumpkin Pie "Pudding" (or Pie) 1 package sugar-free vanilla pudding (1.5 oz) 2 cups cold milk 1 cup sugar-free Cool Whip 1 can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice Splenda (or any sweetener) Cinnamon Mix pudding and milk until blended. Fold in Cool Whip. Mix in pumpkin. Add spice and mix together well. Add cinnamon and Splenda to taste. Chill in refrigerator at least 20 minutes. To make it into a pie just use SF cookies and a little butter or butter substitute to make a crust.

    Lapband or Bypass?

I know several people who were 400+ and one has reached goal and the other ihas about 50's to go. They are true inspirations and have had no problems which I can't say for many of the RNYers I know. They've been in the hospital multiple times, etc. One of the reasons I got the lapband and believe me I've had no problems either.
  22. jcbydesign

    My Mistake.

Not drinking with meals isn't to keep you from eating too much...it's to keep the food in the pouch longer so you stay satisfied longer. I think you need to get a fill to help with the amount of food you can eat.
  23. jcbydesign

    drinking with meals?

The reason not to drink is to keep the food in our pouch stomach longer...so that we stay 'full and satisfied' longer. If you just drink plenty about a half hour before your meal and stop 15 minutes before you eat you will find yourself less thirty. Taking small bites and eating slowly will also help keep you from getting thirty. Then time yourself self. It all helps. I now have no problems not drinking. Keeping hydrated by drinking lots between meals really is important, too.

"As The World (of Obesity) Turns"....

I never go to OH Main board...most of OH is RNY oriented. Go to the OH Lap band forum. You'll like it much better and their is a lot of activity there.

The Lap Band Post Op Abyss???

I think people drop off because they are doing well...and don't feel the need for support or get too busy with their new life. People who have problems tend to need to post.
