I agree, what about the sleeve? The sleeve is not a malabsorbtion procedure. I would check that first.

Make sure that you dont miss a month. Also, my 6 month piece included that Dr. writing every exercize I did and that he recommended. Make sure that each visit is only for weight or they may deny it but Im not positive. I did my Dr. supervised visits with WeightWatchers also. I was approved in less then a week. Good Luck!!!

I too am from Illinois but was banded in Davenport Iowa as I live in the Quad Cities. Good luck and everything will go GREAT!!!

I (knock on wood) havn't had any problems. I had surgery on Wednesday and was back to work on Monday. I have had 3 fills also with little to no problems. The first time I wasn't tightening my stomach muscle enough so it took a few minutes to find the port but all is well. Good luck in your journey.

Congratulations!!!!:thumbup:I have been banded for 4 1/2 months now and I would not change this for anything. The band is the best tool that I could have given to myself. I feel that my Dr is an Angel for helping people with weight problems and now he is part of my family. You will have many follow-up appointments and since you feel comfertable with your Dr don't hesitate to ask all the questions you have. Good luck Monday and let us know how things are doing:thumbup:

I was told after awhile some can evaperate. I was also told that if we loose about 20 pounds some of that is probably around our stomach and that is why you need more fills. Hope this helps and all Drs are differant but this is what mine said. Good luck

Oh my goodness. I finally am in Onederland!! YEAH:thumbup:. I was hoping to hit this first weightloss goal by the middle of March so Im not to far off in my plans. My next goal is to be down another 25. Im taking it with small goals for now. I will get there, just takes time and patience. This web site and fellow bandsters are the ones that have kept me going. Thank you to everyone on here for the support and motivation!

It took right around a week and they faxed me the letter within a few hours so I could get a surgery date scheduled. Good luck:thumbup:

My Dr said 2 years. I know that not all offices say the same time frame but I would wait if you plan on getting prego soon.

I have this pain when I get hungry. I too was told that something my be pushing against my nerve. I kind of just grin and bear it as it isn't often. If things get worse then I will have them check.

I did WeightWatchers and documented everything I put in my mouth and every minute of exercize. With the 6 months of physician visits he just documented that I was following my diet and exercize program as necessary. Good luck

BigMomma,Wow great job on your weightloss this far! We had surgery almost the same day.How much did you lose prior to surgery??:frown:
I lost 38.4 before surgery and 25 since surgery. Im glad that I found this thread and Im not the only one wishing I was loosing faster. I know that we were told only about 1-2 pounds a week and I appreciate every pound I have lost and have worked by butt off for every single one. Keep us posted on your journey and good luck!

I was banded 9 days after you and I too have lost 25 pounds since surgery. 1-2 pounds a week is what they say is normal so were all right on. Great job and keep up the good work!

I was banded in November 08 and my Dr told me that if I get the flu now it will be okay as I have healed. He did say if it got severe to call and get anti nausia medicine. Good luck.

Good luck tomorrow! Make sure you walk, walk, walk. This helps the gas move that they pump in your belly. Also will help prevent blood clots in your legs. It really wasn't to painful just annoying nag. Make sure that you have something to moisten your lips with after surgery as they will be very very dry. Let us know how your doing and I wish you well.

I sleep on my stomach 95% of the time. I was able to start sleeping on my stomach about 5-6 weeks after surgery and have no problems. sometimes I can feel my port if I lye directly on it but no pain and no problems with it flipping or anything. Good luck I know that I couldnt wait to get back on my belly!!!

Congrat:thumbup: that is great. I know things will go great from you and you will soon be happy and healthy. Good luck and make sure to keep us posted.

I would think that the band has nothing to do with endometriosis. I wouldn't even make sense to me since it has to do with a tissue inside of you. Endometriosis is caused from the endometrium that is supposed to leave a woman's body when she has her cycle. It will flow back inside a woman and attach to her organs. This is what happened to me and my tubes were completely blocked like a cobwebs everywhere inside, all over my organs. I was never able to have children and was also told that if a condom wasn't used I would be taking a chance that I could have a tubile pregnancy if I could get pregnant at all.I am very aware that an obese person is told to lose weight before getting pregnant as that is very dangerous for both yourself and the child and that will also have problems with infertility.
I believe you have asked a good question and maybe a doctor or nurse on this website will have an answer.

I agree that the band is not what would be the helper but the weightloss is as that is what helped me. I had another laperoscopy to cauterize the endometriosis and was going to have my tubes cleaned out but found out I was pregnant. The Dr. told me that the weightloss and surgery are both of the things that helped

I too have Endometriosis and when I lost weight before, the pain was gone and I became pregnant. I was also told that I could not have any children so this was great. I believe the weightloss is whats helped. Good luck!

My Dr does fills every 2 weeks if you need them. I had my first one on 01/06/09 and I will have my second one on 01/29/09.

My insurance was BCBS IL also and I was told by the nurse through the insurance company that the 6 month PCP visits had to be in a row. My surgery was approved within a few days. GOOD LUCK
