I have the PAC do my fills. She is very good and I have never felt any discomfort. She is in and out in a few seconds. No lidocaine.

I am also losing slow but I do think it has something to do with your starting BMI also. I hope to be at my goal weight at 1 year post op.

I was banded a couple of months after you and have only now with my 5th fill felt any restriction. I now have 6.0cc in a 10 cc band and am going in for another fill in a couple of days. What I do is weigh my food but most times I can't eat the whole 4 oz. I try to eat 3 oz of Protein and 1 oz of veges. I don't feel "full" like I did before the band, I just feel like I can't eat anymore and that is when I stop. I will usually start to feel some pressure or will start to burp and that is when I know I have to stop. You are doing great!

Hi Teri, I was banded October 30 2008 and am also losing slow. I am like you, it has taken a while before I could feel any restriction. I only started feeling restriction with my last fill so I am hoping it will come off a little quicker. Good Luck!
-
Congratulations!! I was banded a couple of weeks after you but haven't lost as much. I now have 6cc in my 10 cc band and finally feel restricted. I am now starting to lose

Why can't you go back and get your fill early? Why do you have to wait until March? I started booking my next appt 2 weeks after my fill in case I didn't feel restriction. I just had my 3rd fill, 5.5cc in a 10 cc band and now feel restriction. I will see how it goes and if I am still feeling restriction next week I will cancel my appt and make it for a later date.

Hi! I was also banded by Dr. Atkinson and Dr. Soong. I haven't attended the support seminars but I think I am going to try and get there next week. Good luck on your journey :cursing:

I was banded 10/29/08 and I have had 3 fills. I am now at 5.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I am only now feeling restriction. I can only eat 4 oz of food at any meal and I only eat 3 times/day. Most of my meal is lean Protein. When I eat too much I feel very bad heart burn and need to learn to stop prior to this feeling. I am finally starting to lose some weight, 4 lbs the first week after this fill. Yeah !!!!

Hi Mike, I am feeling the same way you are. I had my surgery on 10/29/08. At the time of surgerymy doctor filled my band with 1.5 cc's. About 1 week after surgery my band became so tight with the swelling and I became very very nauseated. I had to have the Fluid removed. I had my first fill on 12/5/08 and they replaced the 1.5 cc's they took out. I do not feel any restriction from the fill and my weight loss is at a standstill. I can eat anything but try not to. I get my 2nd fill on 1/2/09. I hope I feel some restriction after that fill. I too am a little impatient and want to start seeing some results.

I had surgery on 10/29/08. My doctor placed 1.5cc in my band at the time of surgery. It became very tight after surgery and I was very nauseated. I had to have the 1.5 cc's removed. I went back on 12/5/08 for my first fill and they put back in the 1.5cc's they originally took out. Now I feel no restriction at all. I go back for another fill on 1/2/09. I am hoping to feel some restriction after that fill. My weight loss has been at a stand still

I was banded on Oct 29 and just had my first fill on Dec 5th. I still feel very little restriction. From what I have read on here it is a gradual process and can take a few fills until we are at the right restriction. You don't want the band too full or you will be vomiting and have alot of discomfort. I think we have to be patient and remember the band is a tool, not a cure all. I also financed my surgery and have the same fears as you. Try to stay positive. We will lose the weight

Hi Everyone, I also had alot of problems with gas but after taking the Gas-X strips I feel alot better. I am on full fluids for 3 weeks. Yesterday I tried to eat some thin cream of wheat and some cream Soup. I can only eat about 2.5 oz. Then I became very nauseated for the rest of the day. I also now have very bad heart burn. I have some suppositories for the nausea and am taking Tums for the heart burn. My doctor says it is due to the tightness of the band and the swelling. I am going to go back to Clear Liquids for a few days. Any body else have problems with nausea and heart burn? I was planning on returning to work tomorrow but that is not going to happen. Recovery seems longer than I had anticipated. I can't even stay up all day at home yet.

Hi everyone! Glad to see we are all doing well. I had my surgery at 8:00 am and was discharged home at 10:30 am. I am in more discomfort than I anticipated but I know every day it will get better. I am also still very swollen, my tummy is very bloated. I am walking but I guess it will just take time. I am on thick fluids for the next 3 weeks but I have only been sipping clear fluids so far like Water, broth, and crystal light. I am also constipated so I think I need to get some milk of magnesia. Even with the discomfort I am so glad I decided to have this surgery :smile2:
-
Hi Maggies, I was banded on the 29th also but I have the other problem, I am constipated. Haven't been to the bathroom since before the surgery. I too am very swollen. I am also feeling more uncomfortable than I anticipated but I am up and walking around as much as I can. Good luck with your band :smile2:

I am getting banded on 10/29/08 and my surgeon doesn't require any type of pre-op diet. He just doesn't want me to gain any weight prior to surgery.
-
I don't know what time my surgery is yet. I will find out when I go in for my pre-op on the 28th. Where are you having yours done?
-
Hi Everyone, I am scheduled for 10/29/08 as well in Las Vegas!! Yeah
-
Hi Obtech, Wow you are doing great! I am a cash pay also so hopefully I will be able to pick where I have my surgery. I can't wait to get my band! On Thursday I go see my primary Doc, get the Rx for all my tests and get them done ASAP! Keep up the good work!
-
Hi, No I will be paying up front. I applied for credit through Care Credit. They finance medical treatments. The cost I was told will be around $16,000. The CPT code for lap band is (43770). Hope this helps.
-
I am so glad to hear that! I am also planning on having Dr. Soong do my surgery. I hope I can have it done at the surgery center also. Who decides where you are going to have surgery? I don't want to have to stay overnight if I don't have to. I normally do very well with surgery. Did you go on any kind of pre-op diet?
-
Wow your time has finally arrived! You will do great tomorrow. Good luck and keep a positive attitude

I am financing my surgery and I applied for credit through Care Credit. It was quick and easy, all done on line and approval was instant. www.carecredit.com

Wow, looks like you are doing really well! Yes I went to a seminar already and I have an appt to see my primary doctor next week to get all my lab work, EKG and chest X-Ray done. Once that is done I will hopefully be scheduled really soon. Are you happy with Dr. Atkinson and Dr. Soong? Did you have to stay overnight? Where was your surgery done?
-
Hi, I just attended my seminar last week and was also given a packet that listed all the testing I have to complete. Because I am self paying, I don't have to do the psych eval or the nutritionist eval. The only tests I have to complete are blood test, chest X-Ray, and EKG. I take these Rx to my primary doctor and have him order them for me. Once completed and I have all the results I take the results to my surgeon and if all looks good, get my surgery date. Yeah !!!!!!!!!
I am on the BandWagon!
