  1. Do any of you have problems if you eat right before bed???? Background: I was banded in 2008. I am still down 100 lbs from start. I have had an unfill about a month ago. I have found not twice that I get EXTREMELY uncomfortable if I eat right before bed. I don't know if it is because I have food in my pouch when I go lay down but it feels like a lump in my chest....just like it did when I was too tight before my last unfill. It hurts. I can drink and eat. The last time it took about 48hrs to feel normal again. I've never had this issue before. Anyone out there experienced this?

  2. Okay I am 2 weeks Post TT. I am overall so much happier with how I look. I can't wait to get my drains out next week. (I hope) My biggest concern at this point is a pudgy pubic area. I am not tiny. I carry my weight well but still am in the 180's I am (before surgery) a size 12 for the most part. I was worried about how pudgy my pubic area was before surgery but my doc said that would improve after. I feel like he could have done a better job spreading out the area under my surgical suture line. Am I worrying over nothing? Is this swelling that will get better? Is this something I have to live with or get fixed later?

Can you share your experience with this?

    Thank you!

    Julie

  3. Hey I am 2 weeks Post PS. TT and Breast Lift. I am wondering how much drainage you are having out of each. I am hoping to get mine out Monday but realistically I think I will lose two and keep two. :( What sucks is I am back to work Monday so if I have drains I am traveling onsite with my drains. Yuck.

I also have a big question for you. Do you have a lot of swelling below the pubic line? I feel like I have a package down there! I hope that goes away but I am worried that I am going to have to have that fixed!

  4. You guys have done great. Yes my wt loss stopped the same time my journaling stopped. There is a direct corolation for me. Well...off to the gym right now. Keep up the posting. I am following the thread as always. Isn't it hard to believe how long it has been?!?!?! Seems like just a few months ago we were all hoping this would work for us.

  5. Hey there. I am doing well. With personal family issues and getting a second night job in January I gain 15 back but have gotten back on working out. I ran a 3K a couple of week s ago and I am planning to do a 5K next. I started running and am working out. My new job has be traveling about 60% of the time so I am being very careful and watching my calorie intake. I am happy with my health but desparately need plastic surgery to be happy with my body. I think that with PS I will be very happy with everything. I haven't had an adjustment in a year and really am in a good spot.

I'm not sure what my signature will show but I am still about down about 100 lbs. I haven't stepped on a scale in quite a while. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 12.

Best money I have ever spent!

  6. Hi guys. So long since I have been here. I have gained a little and then held steady there. I am kind of in the middle of a personal crisis so I think that if I can hold steady I will be SO HAPPY! We put our 16 yo daughter in a residential Christian private school/counseling program. That also put me working a second job on the weekends at night. We have to drive 4 hrs away for counseling and classes every other week so I have to work late every day to make up for the and try to take off early on Friday to get a nap before I work all night Friday and sleep all day Saturday and work all night saturday. ...oh don't forget the boys we still have at home. THe gym is missed very much. When I get back there it is like an old friend that gives me comfort. I am still a stress eater and I am SO THANKFUL for the band.

I just wanted to check in. I know this year will be hard but I know I still have the tool I desperately need.

Take care. I hope all is well for all of you!

  7. Well I just weighed for the first time in 2 weeks and I put on 1 pound. I am pretty happy with that considering how I have been eating and drinking (parties and such) gives me hope again!

I hit the gym again yesterday and had a great day following the bandster guidelines. I know if I get back on track I could lose the 6.5 lbs that I have gain in the past few months. My problem???? Not following the guidelines!!!

    Back in the saddle......

  8. One day during the summer of 2008 I was talking to a friend that has RnY surgery. I told her if I could have surgery then it would be LAP-BAND®®. I had researched options and decided that it would be the best for me. She told me that only thing she ever regretted was that she didn't do it sooner. I hate regrets and that was when I decided that I didn't want to look back and say that I should have done this when I was in my 30's.

It was months later that talked to my husband about LAP-BAND®® again. Other times he had brushed off the idea. He has always told me that he thinks I am beautiful. He would never comment against my weight. One night after being intimate...and embarrassed about how I felt I opened up to him. I told him about how I felt moving in bed to get comfortable with pillows. I told him how it is for me to fly and how I am always worried that the seat belt won't buckle or that people are worried they will have to sit next to me. I told him that I hate to sit on the bleachers and watch the kids because I feel like a lump on a log. I feel like no one wants to talk to me because of my weight. I hate the way I feel. I can't cross my legs or walk up the stairs without becoming winded. After bearing my soul he agreed to supporting me in getting the surgery. I didn't realize that within 3 months I would have that opportunity.

I had a phone consult in September and was scheduled for surgery on October 29th, 2008. I lost 14 lbs on my pre-op diet. Dr. K said something that just clicked. If you aren't hungry don't eat. That sounds simple, but it is the one lesson that has helped me more than any other. Within weeks I could start wearing clothes that had been too small for me.

In a couple of weeks I was more comfortable with my husband. It took months for people to notice my weight loss because I had to lose 40 lbs before it was obvious.

Six months after surgery I walked onto an airplane, walked down the isle without turning sideways sat down and crossed my legs. I almost cried. I have learned where to shop for good clothes that you only wear 2 months.

Where am I one year later?

I have lost 115 pounds. It is completely unreal to be a person that can say something like that! I am no different than you are. I follow the guidelines. I work hard. It is not an easy way out. The band dims your appetite. It helps you get full faster. I can tell you if I can do it then you can do it too.

I hope you will take the time to read my blog. If you want to know how I did it...that will tell you all about my journey. I am still working hard. I love life. I love to dress up and dress down to go to my kids ballgames. I love to travel. I love to see myself in pictures with my family. It is all possible. If I can do this then you can too!

    Much love!

  9. My bandaversary was Oct. 8th. I didn't do anything except make me a 'progress' picture. I've lost 70 pounds.

I need to decide what my next goal is and get motivated to get the rest of this weight off!

It truly has been a remarkable year and I'm so glad I made the decision to get this band! I went to the seminar to encourage my husband and ended up signing up too!

It's been great having someone to go through this with me.

    Lisa in KY

That would be awesome. Great job!
i was band on Oct. 7, 08. so far i have lot 102 lbs. i started at 375. i'm so glad

Hasn't this been great! Keep loving life and working the band!

  10. I just got my unfill today. It is so nice to be able to take a glass of Water and drink it right down!

I went to TGI Fridays and had my customary sizzlin chicken and cheese for lunch after my adjustment. I was able to each 1/4 of my serving and was full and satisfied and not get stuck. I think today is the first time of no PBing for a really long time. I am looking forward to making it a week without PBing and them even more. One day at a time.

Dr. K wanted to start by taking out 0.5cc. I told him I was thinking 0.1cc. I love the fact that he listens to me. We started at 0.1 removed and ended up after "tuning the band" with a total of 0.25cc removed. Not much if you look at it, but I could really tell a differce. I drove 14 hours round trip today to have 0.25cc removed. Wow!

I am out on the town this weekend. I already know that I won't make my Halloween goal, but I am ready to get on my path. Soft Calorie Syndrome really was tough for me the last month. It might take me another 6 months to lose the last little bit I have to lose, but in less than a year I have lost 115 lbs so I know better than to complain!

  11. I did't weigh in Saturday because I knew it wasn't going to be good. I doubt it will be good this Saturday but I am still going to weigh in. Have u lost any more? I see you're at 168.9 Good job. Have you gotten your unfill yet? If you did, is things a little bit better with your eating?

  12. SO my weight hasn't changed much. I have gained a couple of pounds. I haven't been eating great. I think I am too tight. It is really a chore to eat Protein. I have an appt in one week for a tiny unfil. Have any of you been unfilled by Dr. K before?

Well I wanted to drop in to tell you that I went jeans shopping. Remember at the first of the year when many of us had a signature that said size 9 in '09? Well I tried on several jeans all in a size 9/10. Couldn't believe it. I settled on a pair of cute jeans and went up to a size 11/12. The 09/10 could have fit, but with all my skin and still a little too heavy I had a heck of a muffin top with them. I know I would look amazing in them after a tummy tuck...okay that sounds really conceited, but I just couldn't believe I could pull them all up and button them without any problems.

So I am looking forward to eating solid protein again without so much trouble and the almost daily PBing that I have been having. I also look forward to getting my head screwed back on straight and getting back on the wagon. I am pretty happy with my size now, but another 10 lbs would be blissful!
