  1. I am also a TMI person, and I tell it like it is:tt2:. If you don't like me, tough SH_T go find someone you do like. I have told EVERYONE!!!! I am proud I am taking this weight off. I have some FAMILY members who are jealous as heck. I have taken off 30 pounds in 9 weeks and some people look at me like I am sick! I just saw my DMI today and she never said a word, that is because her daughter needs to loose a BUNCH of weight along with her DSI!!!! JEALOUS:tt2:!!!!!! I've got tons of support from my DH and DS, they are proud of me! My husband wants to go to the mall and buy me some more clothes, the first 20 pounds I took off he bought me a new outfit, he was soooo proud. Plus I am shopping in my own closet now, love it! My Pastor and his wife are so proud of me too! He was afraid for me at first, but I think that was from lack of knowledge, he is okay with it now, thinks it's great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I was banded on Jan 16,09. Had my first fill two weeks ago and now I have less restriction than I did before? What is the deal???? He put in 1cc and is having me go back on April 9th for the second one. I had lost 30 pounds but have gained back 2 pounds this past 2 weeks, very frustrating to me.
  3. What is the "CARD" you people are talking about. I never received anything about my band, except copies of printed material, etc.... I was banded on a military base, and don't even know what type of band or what size I have???? I am doing very well with it, lost 30 pounds in 8 weeks! Banded on Jan 16, 09 and went shopping the next day, felt great!
  4. Banded on Jan 16, 09...I love going out for pizza and thought I would never see it again. Well there's this pizza place in the Dayton, OH area called Marion's. The toppings they use are all ground up and makes it so easy to eat just the topping off and leave the crust! YUMMIE!!! The sausage and mushrooms and teeny-tiney and I have no problem at all.......:tt2:

    Telling People You Are Banded?

I have told who ever wants to hear about it. I have told my church family and they are ALL supportive, and so happy I am losing weight and still eating (I am chair of Fellowship, so I deal with all the dinners at church). I have never received a bad comment from anybody!!!!!!!!!!!!! Banded on January 16, 2009
  6. Nope, did not have to have one, but wished I would have done one as I had to be at the hospital early and could not have a bowel movement before I left, too scared of surgery, plus you get constipated after surgery, so I guess it would be a good idea!
  7. Hay Colorado, Congrats! I know what you mean. I was banded on Jan. 16, 2009 and have lost 30 pounds as of yesterday. I have dropped 2 sizes, down to an 18 YES!!! I almost started to cry, have been heavy for a long time. I went through my clothes to give to cosignment shop this week! Then I will look for some "new" clothes there and wait to buy NEW when I take more weight off...

    ? about hair loss

It's been 2 months, down 30 pounds with 62 to go and no hair loss, but got a lot of it. My hair dresser is impressed, I see her every 4 weeks and she said said my hair is in good shape.
  9. I had the samething and they told me it was from the stuff they use on you to scrub your belly with before surgery. I think I was allergic to it, because it drove me crazy with itching. I didn't do anything about it and it finally went away after a week.

    Sweet Spot?

I ate at Arby's and could only take 2 bites, started feeling like it was stuck so I stopped, no more for me, but I can eat popcorn!!!!! Can anybody else????
  11. I didn't find out until right before I was rolled into the OR that I had to spend the night because of Sleep Apena and High Blood Pressure. I asked to go home the same day and he told me I was staying just 5 minutes before the OR door opened:cursing: I was awake all night from the party at the nurses station:cursing: Got home the next day around 12:30. Have lost 27 pounds since my banding on Jan 16th, had first fill almost 2 weeks ago. Going back for 2nd fill first of April
  12. My husband and I go to a Chinese place and I always eat shrimp, small bites and chew well, no problem with me. The only thing I had problems with were cooked carrots and chicken (threw-up), it took me 3 tries for chicken, and now all is good, same as with carrots. Banded on Jan. 16, 2009 have lost 25 pounds with 60 to go, have 1cc, don't know the size of my band?????????
  13. I am 6 wks post op and had my first fill yesterday. The doc numbed the area first then stuck the LONG needle in on first try, no xrays, just feeling around. My question is this...when he went to do the fill he had me drink a cup of water, 3 gulps and then he started to pull the saline out and told me to tell him when the water went down. I guessed at it because I really couldn't feel the water go down??? I am okay today, I really don't feel any different, is this normal. When they gave me the water it was full of ice, I guess so you can feel it better, but no such luck. I didn't tell the doc this. I had no fill during surgery, just got 1cc put in yesterday, on full liquids for 2 days then mushies, then slowly to soft foods. I wonder if I will feel the difference once I go to the food?????? MY next appt is in 4 weeks.
  14. I was banded on Jan. 16th and have a question about the amount of food I should be eating. I thought the diet clinic told me that I would only be able to eat 1/2 cup at a time. Well I am eating about a cup at each meal. I have had one episode of slimming (with pain) ate a piece of corn bread, I know that is a no-no, but I just thought I would try it, NEVER AGAIN, the pain was awful until I got rid of the bread! I am still putting everything through the blender to make sure it goes through my band. I am still having some discomfort in my chest area, I think I had a hernia repair but won't know until I see the surgeon for my first appt. next Monday. I have lost 14lbs so far!
  15. I am six weeks post op and have an appt with my surgeon in 2 days. I saw him a month ago and he said he wasn't sure he would do a fill in six weeks. I was loosing the weight really well but now things have slowed down and I get hungry more often than I should. I can eat a regular size meal, and within 2-3 hours I am hungry again. But once in a great while I will sit down to breakfast and fix me an egg with one slice of toast and can't finish it, too full. It seems like my band is NOT working during the evening meal! Any ideas out there for what I should do in 2 days, to fill or NOT???????? By the way I have lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks! I've got about 60 - 70 pounds to go.........
  16. I was banded on January 16th and have lost a total of 18 pounds from pre-op up until today:thumbup:. My question is I am at a stand still with my weight. I lost the 17-18 and can't seem to budge from there. I go to the YMCA 3 times a week, just cardio until my first check up and then on to weights. I started soft solid food about a week ago and can't keep chicken down at all:ohmy:! I can eat steak, chopped steak, toppings off of pizza, all kinds of fish, you name and it stays, but not chicken, does anyone else have this problem????

    Post Op day 1 question

I am 5 weeks post-op and doing wonderful. My worst day was the 3rd day, couldn't drink liquids, was so upset!! Never took any meds for pain! Had surgery on Friday had to stay the night because of sleep apnea, went home Saturday afternoon in church on Sunday! No fill yet, going in on the 4th of March for possible fill, he is not sure yet??? I have lost 18 pounds in 41/2 weeks!
  18. Did anyone else have problems urinating after surgery:scared2:. It took me 9 1/2 hours before I could pee!!!!!!!! Didn't feel the urge to:ohmy:.
  19. Does anybody know if they move your port for a tummy tuck? My port is to the upper right of my navel and I know they will have to make a new hole for the navel, but what about the port site??? I am just starting out on my weight loss journey, so it will be at least a year before I have this done. I have already had my breast down sized about 20 years ago and love them:thumbup:. I was a size triple D :ohmy:when I had this done. In high school I was a double D and weighed 99lbs!!! I know, I know what happeded with the weight, LONG STORY, but I gained over 100lbs so now it has to come off!
  20. I too was banded on Jan 16th. Down 18 pounds so far! I go in for my second appt. on March 4th, he may do a fill not sure yet. I am doing great thou. Had a couple of things that didn't set right with me. One was crab and the other was chicken:cursing:. I lived in Queen Creek, AZ for 8 years. Husband was stationed at Williams AFB, Chandler, AZ:cool2:.

    Hospital

Had to stay over night because of sleep apnea. Didn't sleep because I was across from the nurse's station and they laughed and talked all night:cursing:. I watched TV and just laid there watching the clock:mellow:. Got to go home around 12:30 the next day. Didn't know I was staying the night until right before I went into surgery the surgeon told me:ohmy:! The only pain meds I had to take was in recovery and that was 2 shots of morphine. I did not need anything else the whole time I was in or no pain meds at home either! I would say my BIGGEST problem was I couldn't PEE after surgery:crying:. It took me 9 hours before I went! The nurse threatened me with a catheter, and I asked for one more hour to try and go and I finally did after 9 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moving Lap Band Port for Tummy Tuck

What is a low profile port? I can feel mine real well and my stomach kinda sticks out, but I am only 3 weeks post op as of today. Jan 16th, was the start of a new life style for me! Jan
  23. Hi All, Just a question I have about my port. It is located to the right side of my navel. Every post I have read from this site have said that their port is to the left. I am not sure if it is because of my severe diverticulosis:scared2: on my left side of colon or what, anybody have any idea????

    Tricare Prime and Lap Band

Tricare Prime here. Was just banded on January 16th and just had my 2 week post-op on base. My surgery was done on base as we have 2 Bariatric surgeons stationed here. The wait was a little long I thought. Had to have Psych eval, diet class (2) WL support group meetings (2) and Lab work. It just seemed like it took forever to get everything lined up. I started the process around August of 08 and finally saw the surgeon the first part of December for a January 16th date. I have high blood pressure, Sleep Apnea, arthritus (sp). I did not have to have upper GI, EEG, or anything like that before surgery. Oh, did have EKG and chest Xray right before surgery and more labs! The also wanted to know when was my last pap, Colonoscopie and what other surgeries I had and what year. They just want to make sure you are in super good shape!!!!!!!!!!!

    Question about amount of food

Thanks to all of you for your input!!! I am doing okay and staying on track very well! I had made a pot of soup beans and had a small dish today (blended in the blender) and that was soooo good after shoveling snow twice this morning! Ohio got pelted pretty BAD today! My DH can't shovel since having a heart attack at 47 and open heart then 3 stints put in in October of this past year, so it's good ole me! I go see my surgeon for first follow-up on Monday. OH, I did not shovel the snow, I PUSHED it off the driveway, no lifting anything over a gallon of milk! Thanks again....Jan:thumbup:
