Hi all congratulations Mandy on your new arrival .You will just need to stick in there until you get your restriction.I think it took me a while to get my head round that if you keep getting stuck and end up in pain it meant i was eating too fast or too much.If you dont chew properly this will happen also.If you dont get your head round these three things when you do get more restriction the pain will just get worse.Like gary said a few pages back the band is just a tool your eating patterns have to change like i have found out and most people who have had sticking episodes. The band can change how much we put in our stomach but not how much we put in our mouth and how quick .Still today sometimes i put a mouthfull of food in without realizing I'm still chewing food.I hope you get your half stone off for Xmas i will be trying for that my self.Good luck Feel sorry for you flirty thats some amount of money to shell out for no restriction. But you have done great and you know yourself if you didnt have the band it would of been a hell of a lot harder.Ps if i had to shell out that kind of money i would be ranting too.lol Great photos gary and you too bev that Soup still gives me the baulk thinking of it. Keep your chin up timeisnow it will get easier. if you keep up your exercise it will pay off eventually.
  4. Hi all I thought I would post today as this is my bandaversity.Yep one year ago today I was lying on a slab getting my insides poked about by Dr Chris de bruyne.Weighing in at 23st 2lb (324lb).As of today I am now weighing in at 16st (224lb).So 100lb in one year to the day I could not have asked for any more. The journey has not been easy but well worth it .I did not really get restriction until 7-8 months after I had the op so a lot if it was will power and dieting. Before I had the op I weighed up the options of me not having surgery to having it .The positives were out numbering the negatives what was the worst that could happen. I could die on the operating table or I could die with the excess weight I was carrying or with all the problems you have with being obese. Some of the things that have changed In my life since I have lost the weight have pleased me .I can now go to the swimming with my kids which I never done when I was at my heaviest as I was too embarrassed . I am also able to fit in the seats on roller coasters now where a year ago I would never have even tried .I'm now like a big kid when we go to the fun fair.We have even booked up for Orlando for next June due to the weight loss.I'm also able to take the kids round the the park on the bikes which they love. They have a new dad now which is one of the reasons I had the op .I don’t want my children’s lives to pass me by with me not being able to do things normal dads do. I have also set a date for my wedding which I would not have done if I had not lost the weight. Its only taken me 8 years to set the date lol. I have lost at least 10 inches from my waist 12 inches from my chest and 3 inches from my neck.So the only negative is I have had to buy a full new wardrobe of clothes. Although I have not lost all the weight I want too if I had to stay at this weight I would be quite happy. The last time I was at this weight I was 16 years of age. So for anyone thinking of getting the band done or is just starting the journey I would say it can be done go for it. I have been using this site for a year now and it has given me so much inspiration reading other peoples success story and looking at the before and after photos really spurned me on . I only hope my story can inspire someone thinking of getting the band that it can change your life round and all for the better.

Hi mia yes every one has to do a low fat diet two weeks before there op as this helps shrink the liver. It is beneficial to your self to do this as it makes it easier for the dr to do the op when your liver is smaller.

Hi paul it was very straight foward. If you get the package with dr chris de bruyne and his assistant fredrick all you have to do is book your own flights .The package includes your hotel your op and all the taxis you need from your hotel to hospital and back plus to the airport. They book all this for you so there is no problem with lanuage. If you type in the search bar on this site Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris or clink on this link it should take you to a page where every one has had the op with him .Plus if you read back on the previous post all your questions will have been asked.

Hi jersey bean the after care is relay important the band is not filled at the operation so you need to go on a monthly basis to get your band filled. The first fill is done from week four after surgery usually week six and every month after that till you have proper restriction. Some people can get restriction after a few fills but not all i had about six or seven before i got any sort of restriction.Hope this helps any other questions just ask we have all been in your position.

Hi homecare ye shes noticed a big difference but then it didn't bother her when i was so big. Loosing all this weight has even gave me the confidence to set a date for our wedding last week which i would have never done when i was a my heaviest. So she is delighted. Plus i even fitted in to her size 14 skinny legged jeans the other day.Not that i was wearing them out just testing for size .lol Cheers tin and carriejess. Well done tin your going in the right direction hopefully you will get restriction and it will be a bit easier. When i started on this site it was hearing other people success stories that gave me the inspiration that it can be done.So i hope it does give others at the start of there journey some encouragement that the weight will come off .I have struggled some months and lost my way a bit but you just have to get back on track and get on with it.

Hi mandy have you not got any restriction yet?I tend to stick to a high protien diet as i find this helps me .If i stay away from foods that have alot of carbs the weight comes off faster for me.

Hi debs when i got banded i have never felt pain like it i thought someone had danced on my chest.I thought what the hell have i done but rest assured it does ease off. After the first day when i went back to the hotel i thought i wasnt going to fly the pain was that bad.But a good day and night rest and i felt alot better.Going for the flight i felt a bit fragile but once i got home and had a good night sleep in my own bed the pain relay eased. And every day after that i felt better and better. So bear with it the pain will ease just keep taking pain killers he gave you . All the best bobo

Well done joe on getting banded. That will you be on the loosing side now.:frown:

    Intercourse worried

Why do you not just do it with him coming in from behind (doggy style).I dont think there would be any problems any way as long as he is not putting all his weight on you.The port is sewed on your muscles so you shouldnt have any problems with it flipping.

Its basicly going back to what you do when you have a fill .Your on fluids for a few days then mushes then progress on to solids and its suppose to get your band back in to shape .If you google five day pouch test it will come up and it will tell you how to do it.

I think after a few weeks your band slackens off a little as the bigger the portions you eat the more your band is stretched.I have tried doing the five day pouch test and after the fifth day you have more restriction as the band goes back to the size it was when you got your fill. As i tend to stick to high protein meals i very rarely feel hungry. Its only when i go back on to carbs i feel hungry so i stay away from them.
