Hi natalie there should be no problems driving home after you arrive back i did so with no real pain.A little tugging when turning round to check your blind spot apart from that it was fine.

Theirs no need to worry slinky you will be fine you are in great hands with Dr Chris,I think everyone has the same nerves before the op so your no different there. You just have to think positive it will be worth getting the needles done if you loose the weight. In a year to come when you have lost all the weight you will think what was i worrying about. So think positive and you will be fine.Good luck for the op on Tue and to the others that have theirs coming up soon.

Hi i stuck to a high protien type diet like the atkins once i came off the liquids and mushes which worked for me.I ate chicken with everthing and it helped me loose the weight quicker. As for the fills i was one of the unlucky ones who needed loads of fills i think it was 8 fills to get to decent restriction. Everyone is diffrent but most get restriction after about 3 fills.

Hi all not been on for a while as i have been on hol to Florida so just back this morning just catching up on all the post pheww lots of pages and newbies. Thanks slinky for the comments by the way. Well thought i would post my weight results as i have done for a while now. Well i have put on a STONE.I got a defill in April for a holiday to Spain and i never got it refilled as i knew i was going to Orlando in July .So i weighed my self this morning when i got in and i was pretty surprised 15st 9lb.I was probably sitting about the 15st mark before i went so relay only half a stone for a 14 day holiday where before it would of been a stone in two weeks. So its back for a top up for me i think.I was back to eating three courses in restaurants again which i couldn't do before i went. I have also been off work for 4 weeks after an operation which has not helped as i have been sitting about the house doing nothing. So back to work next week so hopefully that will get me back on track and in to a routine . So its a lesson learned for me and others that the band is just a tool and if you take away the tool the job is alot harder to do. Superb result Gary in loosing 9.5 stone thats great m8.And good luck to all the newbies going out for your ops .

Well done gaz that is absolutely amazing you must be over the moon .For me it was hearing story's like yours that gave me the inspiration to go for the band .I know for most people the weight wont shift as fast as yours but it gives people the encouragement that it can be done so a big well done m8.How much more do you need to loose to get to your target weight?

Well why would you come on to a thread on your very first post and try to tell people not to get the band and go on a diet.?

Hi slinky there is nothing i can not eat.For dinner i had chicken chow mien and a couple of prawn crackers. The only difference is before i would have eaten the full chow mein plus chips i could only eat half a chow mien. There is some foods some people will struggle with like bread pasta rice but i can eat all these.I have had alot of time when i have brought things back up but this is either i have eat to much too fast or not chewed the food enough.I now know how the band works and have the knowledge now to know when too stop eating so that i don't get the food coming back up.Believe me when it happens to you there will be allot of slime and pain so you tend to learn when to stop eating. When you master that you should have no problems eating anything only in smaller amounts.

Hi home care thanks you have done really well yourself reaching your target well done.My target weight is now 14 st 7lb which i am sitting about 14st 9 just now .The only reason i picked that target was because according to my bmi that will be me just overweight rather than obese.Ideally my weight should be 12st 4lb or somthing like that to have a normal weight bmi but i think i would look drastic at this so i wont be going any lower than this weight .I bumped in to a old neighbour a few months back that i had not seen for years who asked me if i was ok and thought i was ill or somthing as i had lost all the weight but thats the only one thats ever said anything like that everyone else have been really positive and said how well i am looking for loosing the weight .I think when people get used to your new size and shape things will change .Dont let it get you down you have worked hard to get to your target enjoy it.

Well done toppings thats a brilliant weight loss you must be chuffed to bits.Once you feel comfortable with your weight you could get a little taken out so you can eat that little bit more than you can the now and your weight should stay at a standstill if you feel it start to go back on just get a little back in.

No problems freckles i think if you get a little taken out alot of your problem will ease off.I'm only going by my experience when i got a little taken out the reflux stopped.I have had it once since then and i ate toast before going to bed so i wont do that again.Thats one of the changes i made that i have my dinner early never later than 6pm unless im out somewhere for dinner and i very rarely have any supper so i don't give it a chance to happen. My supper is usually a few drinks and they just slide down as you know.lol

Hi freckles i think it comes down to the fact that your band is to tight.I got it before when i was to tight and if i ate before bed i would wake up chocking with the burning acid in my throat really scary thought i was dieing.lol I think it is because your lying down the acid in your stomach that is breaking your food down is somehow being blocked from going through the band and its coming up the way .Does this only happen if you eat before bed or does it happen all the time.?

Hi freckles ye its a great feeling i defo couldn't have done it without the band its been well worth the money. I could only dream of being at this weight 18 months ago so all newly banded and going to be banded it can be done you just need to be patient and work with your band. Thanks sussie you will be there one day yourself hope the flight situation gets sorted out for you its not the kind of thing you need before an op is worrying if your going to get there. I only got 0.75ml taken out Wendy says that should be enough to give very slight restriction but give me the freedom to enjoy myself and not have to watch everything I'm eating. Its amazing the difference its made already i can take big gulps of juice now were as before i had to take small sips. She said she could take more out but did not like being aggressive putting that amount back in so i opted for only the 0.75 so when i come back i can get that amount put back in the one go rather than a few fill to get me back to the same level of restriction. I'm away next sat with work to palma for a week so hopefully the flight situation will clear up by then but as you say its not looking good. Btw i just had a bowl of home made chicken and mango curry with two weight watchers pita bread and it was lovleyyyyyyyy.Went down no probs.hahaha

WAHOOOOOOOOO thats me officially not obese and in the overweight bmi range sitting at 29.6 which I'm chuffed to bits with.Lost another 5lb so only another 2lb to get to my goal of 14st 7lb.I got a defill today as I'm away to Spain in a week then off to Florida next month .I wanted to enjoy both holidays so i got a bit took out. This will be the big test for me to see if i can keep the weight off while i dont have any restriction so fingers crossed. On your point freckels i can eat anything bread read meat pasta rice .There is nothing i cant eat but in smaller portions which is the way i think it should be.When i eat bread it just goes down that bit slower than normal food.I dont know how you can cope with just a few teaspoons of food but if it works for you go for it but i dont think you should be that tight long term as i think that would do damage to your stomach.Well done on the weight loss by the way your doing great. Keep with it Paul everyone goes through stages were the weight loss comes to a standstill it will start shifting as long as your watching what your doing.

Hi Sharon when you get a fill depending on where you are with restriction you will feel tight for a few weeks then it tends to ease off.The food getting stuck is actually restriction to a certain extent. The more food you eat the more stretched your band gets.If you go back on to liquids for a few days you will find the band goes tighter and you will not be able to eat as much as its not getting stretched with food going down. Its very hard to get to the right point of restriction where you get that full feeling as 0.5 of a mil can make a Hugh difference to your restriction that instead of you being able to eat anything you can eat nothing at all. When you do get it you will feel full but not like the days where you could of eaten loads of food at like a buffet meal or something and you would get that bloated feeling at your belly where i used to say I'm stuffed i could not eat another thing. Its hard to describe but when the restrictions right your band should slow down the speed and consumption of food going down. When food reaches the receptors at the top of your stomach that tells your brain that your full.So instead of me wolfing a meal down and it sliding straight down to the bottom of my stomach the band slows the process down and if it backs up and reaches the receptors you wont be able to eat any more if that makes sense. Its more of i physically cant eat any more as i can tell when the foods starts to back up in the band and thats when i stop eating as if i don't i will get the sliming . I hope this helps you any as it relay is an individual thing and this is my experience.Others may be able to describe it a better way but you need to get your head round the way your band works everybody's different.
