i talked to the dr. office awhile ago. i thave to see him wednedsay for my pre-op visit. i asked if i could go ahead and have all my tests and the visit with the dietician while i was up in st. louis. the lady said to just tell the dr. to call them when i see him and if it is alright with him then i can do the other stuff on one of the other days . she didn't see a problem with it. that would save me a over 300 miles of driving.

when you are at the dr. appt does he tell you then when your surgrery will be done?

i'm so excited. i just hope i do as well as you guys are doing.

i think you would be a candidate for surgery. which one are you going to have? i plan on having lap band. get to see my dr. the 8th. can hardly wait. have you talked to your regular dr. about this. my regular dr. is the one that suggested that i have surgery. he wanted me to have the RNY bypass and i told him no.

there are a lot of people on this site who could give you names of bariatric drs. to go to. good luck on what ever you choose

mine have already fallen and can't get up. ha ha i'm a 38 C that's a lot to carry around on my short body.

i am one of nine children. 6 of us girls and 3 boys.

i'm not the heaviest but i am the runt of the bunch

hope i lose some of my boobs. maybe when i start shrinking weight wise, they will shrink up and not sag, i wish!!!!

i get to see the surgeon next wednesday. how long did you guys have to wait to see the dietician and get your tests done. when i do get my appt. with the dietician, they said i would go to the hospital and get all the tests i have to have done in the same day. they said to be prepared to be there all day.

i always have to do my stress test by an injection. they won't let me do it on a treadmill. i don't like to have them done.

i finally got my appt. with the dr. my appt. is Oct 8, next wednesday.yaaaaaaa

they said that when i go for my appt. they will give me a date to get all my testing done. they do it all in one day. i'm glad. i have to drive over 3 hrs. to get to my dr. it's only about 15 min. from where one of my sisters live.

she's driving. hate all that traffice in St. Louis. i'll probably keep my eyes closed. ha ha she made me promise to keep quiet while she drives. i do feel sorry for anyone who is in the car with me when we're traveling. i get realllly nervous in traffic. :w00t:

i am ashamed to say what i weighed when i got married. (95lbs-38 yrs ago)

i am 4'9 and weigh 205. when i got married i was 4' 11. don't know what happened!!!!

i am on 11 medicines. hope to get rid of most of them when i have my surgery.

by the way, i finally got my dr. appt. it's oct 8. i'm getting nervous. my poor ole stomach has been burning ever since they told me this morning.

is there a site to go to for all the abbreviations you guys are using?

it's not the bariatric dr. that's pushing me for the RNY, it's my regular dr. my regular dr. is Dr. Davis, weird. (i'm from Missouri)

i haven't been to the bariatric dr. yet. saw him at the seminar, but his office said i should get a call any day.

my BMI is reallllly bad. i'm glad i can count on you guys for support!

i have had 5 major surgeries and i just don't want to go through another.

i have been very impressed with the weight loss the people on this post have had. i have to have the surgery that will be easiest on me. my husband passed away almost 4 yrs. ago. i have no one to take care of me but me.

there is no way he is going to talk me out of this. i'll just have to show him that i can lose with the band. i'm not going to bring the subject up with him again. he'll find out about the band after it is over.

went to my regular dr. today. he is still trying to persuade me to get the RNY surgery. he doesn't think i will lose much with the band. i told him that i read a lot of posts on this forum and the majority of them are losing weight real well. he can talk all he wants to, i am going to have the band. i just don't feel good about the RNY- too much cutting and more side effects. :tongue:

i went to my regular dr. today. he keeps pressuring me to get the RNY. i am scared to do that. that is too much cutting for me. he doesn't think i will get good results with the band. i told him that i have been reading these forums and the majority of the people have had good results. he just shook his head. i feel like i'm doing the right thing by having the band.

i am just waiting for the dr. office to call me with an appointment. i've waited a week. i think i will call them tomorrow. went to my regular dr. today and he is pushing me to get the RNY surgery. i am scared to do that. that's just too much cutting. i am going to get the band. it's what i feel safest with. hope you hear about your surgery soon

that's great!!!!! bet you are so excited. i'm still waiting for them to call me with a dr. appt. said it should be any day now. i'm giving it until friday, then i'm going to call them. i want to get my surgery done before winter sets in. i live about 3 1/2 hrs. away from my dr.

i am petrified to drive on snow. i'll drive to my sister's house and she will drive me to my appts. they are in St. Louis and i hate to drive in the city traffic

i'm in a small town and only have two lanes not 6. ha ha

thanks for your advice on the Protein stuff. talked to my brother-in-law's sister last night. she has been banded for a little over 2 yrs. i asked her what she drank for her 2 week post op. she said the dr. told her to drink Slim Fast!!!! i can handle that, i like it. i will be going to the same dr. that she had. hope he tells me the same thing.

i'm hoping since everything has been approved, that i will get a call next week telling me i have an appt. to see the dr.

my body is going crazy!!!!! it keeps telling me to eat all the sweets i can because pretty soon i have to give them up. i give in sometimes, but i try to fight the urge most of the time.:frown:

giving sweets and sodas up are going to be hard. i keep telling myself that when i get banded it will all be worth it. i want to get back to the weight i was when i got out of high school. i need to lose 100lbs. my bmi is realllly bad. that isn't good for a diabetic with heart problems along with other stuff.

i think when i hit 40 everything went downhill after that.:thumbup:

this is a great post. you learn a lot here. i've been ok'd for surgery, just waiting for an appt. to see the dr.

which Protein supplement tastes the best. i'm like a little kid. if it doesn't taste good, i don't want it. been reading other posts.

they say Isopure-Protein bullets-Professional Strength whey all taste horrible. :bolt:

got a call this morning from the drs. office. my rep. said that the doctor said i was ok for surgery and that i will be getting a phone call in the next few days to schedule my appt. with the doctor. i am getting so nervous and excited at the same time. hope it won't be long. :smile2:

they told me that when i get my appt. to be prepared to be there all day.

i think i see the dietician and have a bunch of test done all in one day.

i'm glad tough, i'd rather do it all at once and get it over with.

i'm from missouri too. i live in southeast mo. close to the Current River.

who did your surgery? i haven't had mine yet. they have all of my papers together and are ready for the doctor to read and determine if i am eligible for surgery. i don't know how many are ahead of me.

i will be using dr. follwell at st. alexius in st. louis. i've heard good things about him. my brother-in-law's sister had lap band with him
