glad your are home and doing okay. sorry for taking so long in answering. i have been staying with my sister since before surgery. i live 3 hrs. from here. she has been keeping me out most of the days. i sure feel it by night time. i start getting a little stiff. i really think i'm over doing it.

it's hard for me to get in and out of her Yukon. being only 4'9" it is quite a stretch.

feeling pretty good. haven't taken any pain meds since i left the hospital. i just take the raglan, which is for my stomach. it sure gurgles a lot.

some times when i burp, my entire inside of my stomach burns a little.

i am amazed at the way i feel. i mean i would like to feel a lot better, but this is nothing like i expected. i've had 4 major surgeries so i guess this just was an easier one for me.

  2. my lower back bothers me at night after i go to bed. for some reason i hurt a little down the side of my neck and across my shoulders. i hear the gurgling sounds in my stomach too. i have no trouble being hungry, but it doesn't take much to fill me up. i'm ready for the mushy foods. i think i will get them wednesday. not too soon for me!!

i have to see my surgeon tuesday, which is one week after surgery.

  3. 4th day after my surgery!!! not doing too bad. the worst time is at night. seems like when i try to lay down to sleep i always hurt around my lower back. my sister has really had me walking. we went to the "apple butter festival" yesterday and walked a lot. i went to bed at 8 o'clock and slept till 8 o'clock this morning. i was beat.

been eating out a lot since i've been here. i just drink my broth. ha ha

my brother-in-law's sister went last night. she had the band 2 yrs. ago. she ate a roll and it got stuck. she couldn't even eat any more. i'll be sure not to do that!!!

i see the dr. tuesday. yeah!! i get to eat some soft food then. i'm really looking forward to it.

    glad you are back indigogirl!!!

my dr. said that he will put special booties on my feet and something that is wrapped around my legs that pump air in and out and he will give me a blood thinner shot, all while i am in the surgery room. this is just a precaution to make sure that i get good circulation and to prevent blood clots. he just wants to be on the safe side. he makes his patients stay over night.

  5. hi dish

    welcome!!

i know what you mean about freaking out! i'm having surgery 1 day before you. my sister said that God won't bring anything to you that he won't see you through. i keep telling myself that! i'm terrified of being put to sleep even though i have had other surgeries.

i think my regular dr. is more excited than i am. he told someone the other day that i was a "hottie" in school. i don't think i will get back to that stage ha ha but i would like to get back down to 100lbs!!

  6. congrats to all that just had their surgeries!!! and good luck to the ones having theirs next week!!! mine will be on wednesday. i am getting so nervous. 11th day on liquids. each day seems to get a little harder. my stomach is realllllly making loud noises now.

i'm going to be having my surgery in st. louis where my sister lives, she is going to spend the night in the hospital with me, they provide beds for your guest. they prefer that someone stays with you. i'm glad. since i live 3 hrs. from her and have to see the doctor in a week, i'm going to spend the week with her.

she is wanting me to go to the "apple blossom festival" with her on saturday. there will be a lot of walking, but there will be benches in different areas so you can rest. will i be able to do much walking 3 days after the surgery????

  7. 11th day of my liquid diet. really hadn't gotten lightheaded. these past few days have been bad, i have really been hungry. went out to eat yesterday with my mom and this morning with my sisters and their families. boy, that was hard.

the place we went to this morning didn't have any broth. luckily i brought my Protein shake and two small containers of SF Jello. had to watch the rest of them eat full plates of food. was i ever foaming at the mouth. ha ha

just 2 more days of this. wednesday i get banded.

i am so nervous. i'm not really scared of the surgery, i've had 4 major surgeries. i know this is silly but, i am afraid of being put to sleep.

i love to watch Discovery Health and see all the different surgeries and keep telling myself this is an easy one.

i wasn't borderline. i was on a sliding scale with quick acting insulin. i had to have different doses according to what was sugar. and i took a different insulun at bedtime.

i am having my surgery at St. Alexius with Dr. Follwell next wednesday. i started my Clear liquids on the 9th. ugh. been on it for 9 days. 4 days left.

did you say on an older post that your wife had the surgery too?

  9. hi to all you new guys. some of you are lucky. i had to start my liquid diet on the 8th and i am having surgery on the 14th. it's been a long 8 days with no solid food. 5 more to go. i'm staying home and away from any place that has food!!!

went to the doctor for my stress test. had to find a place to eat for lunch so i took my mom to a chinese restruant and let her eat off the buffet while i ate my egg drop Soup, trying to get all the pieces of egg out of it. boy did i want some of her food.< /p>
