    Stairs after surgery

Great advice, sounds like for most it was no problem, but we shall see!

    Stairs after surgery

Good morning sunshines!! 🌅 My QOTD today is about using stairs right after surgery! I live in a 2 story home with my bedroom upstairs. There are 3 flights of steps and it's a pretty big home. Would it be advisable to climb stairs right after surgery or should I plan to sleep downstairs for a bit? I bought one of those big town crier call bells as a joke (kind of) to call my fiance when I need something 🤣🤣🤣

    TMI Semi Liquid Diet Diahrrea

I'm going to try to do half a scoop of Protein tomorrow and see if maybe that was the problem because I was fine until a couple bites of that soup!

    Sugar Alcohols and Dumping Syndrome

Have you tried monk fruit sweetener? I used that a lot on keto and it was great for sweetening (sweeter than sugar) and probably more natural than other alternatives. Lakanto is my favorite brand. For erithryol I would use Swerve. I liked the monkfruit sweetener better but that worked too!

    Stairs after surgery

Haha I plan to milk this for a few weeks as well 🤣🤣 I think that's a good idea to prepare to be downstairs just in case!
  8. I have sleep apnea, arthiritis, fatty liver and high cholesterol and am scared as well but I'm also scared of all of these conditions I have and developing more later in life if I don't take control of my obesity. So I have made the decision to go through with the surgery for reals this time and not cancel like twice before. All I can do now is do everything I can to help this surgery go smoothly. I'm three weeks out and am following a semi liquid diet (even though my doctors office told me it wasn't necessary because I know shrinking my liver and more weight loss before surgery is safer and better) I take all my supplements and more (with Dr approval) I make sure to get my protein in to promote faster healing and I've begun therapy/support groups. I'm going to try to take as little pain medication as possible after surgery because too many opiods and surgery dont mix. It seems like all these "celebrity deaths" (Kanye west mother, Lisa marie presleu) after surgery had opiods as a factor. I currently had been taken tylenol codeine #3 (a mild opiod) three times a day for arthiritis and that stopped today. I'm not taking any chances even with this mild one. When I have pain I will use creams or tens therapy or hell even book a massage but I am doing everything In my power to prevent complications. I've read books and gained a lot of knowledge about the surgery and have asked patients here how they've done it. That's all we can do and then leave the rest up to God/the powers that be.

    Food Aversions After Surgery

I just ordered the isopure flavorless! Who needs a gall bladder anyways 🤣
  13. I would feel way more comfortable asking the server if I could order off the kids menu because I had surgery than busting out a medical card that announces that I am a bariatric patient and can't eat their regular meals. Seems passive aggressive haha

    Food Aversions After Surgery

Oh yeah Isopure is a good brand i forgot about! I used it when I did Keto. Did your surgery team give you all this good advice or you learned on your own? I'm learning more from you guys and my book than them lol. So Mashed Potatoes is allowed in the pureed stage?? That will be a lifesaver. Glad to hear the shake worked out!

    Food Aversions After Surgery

That's a good idea to add the protein powder to broth since we need more protein, I'm going to order some today thank you 😊 do you have any brand recommendations? I haven't tried the coffee premiere protein because of the caffeine I am extremely sensitive to caffeine even before surgery I can't handle any caffeineted drinks because it gives me anxiety. I always see it at Costco and want it but I am too scared 🤣🤣 but hopefully since you loved coffee before it will be okay!

    Food Aversions After Surgery

So interesting! That would be cool if we started liking things we didn't like before haha (that were healthy) I actually really like the protein shakes right now and bought a ton of them so that's good to know so I stop buying for now 😅 hot chocolate for me has those warm memories you're talking about so I hope I can enjoy one for Christmas eventually but if not I'll take a chocolate protein shake! I'm starting my semi liquid diet tomorrow! I ordered sugar free jello, pudding, gelatin, 100% fruit juice for Popsicles, Creamed soups and Kettle and Fire Bone Broth (my favorite bone broth soup brand, highly recommend!) I have some leftover rotisserie chicken so I'm going to make a crack chicken Casserole and do some fun recipes with ground beef!
  17. Good Morning Everyone! QOTD is what is your favorite recipe/foods/shakes for your pre or postoperative surgery? I am still able to eat many foods except for carbs still so I haven't delved into Bariatric recipes yet, but I will share mine once I do! For now I've been trying a lot of different protein shakes from Premier Protein including chocolate vanilla, chocolate peanut butter, cake batter, strawberries and cream and caramel. I love all of them, except for strawberries and cream is not my favorite, but they have been great for when I'm craving dessert! I have one for breakfast in the morning and I mix it with a scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen to keep my skin looking great during this process! I feel like that and my Solgar Biotin and Hair Skin and Nails has already been helping. I am big on skin care amd a Sephora "junkie" and can give anyone advice on that!

    Depressed before surgery

Thank you!! Yes I did not go to that restaurant i was invited to at comic con, my fiance and I went to benihanas instead and I am so proud of myself for just eating steak and veggies and saying no to that rice! Yes I am now doing private therapy once a week and joined a binge eating support group and life after bariatric surgery support group. In the literal week I've been in therapy I've learned a lot about myself already and family patterns etc. It's amazing what a difference it makes! I really haven't told anyone I'm getting WLS except for my sister and two close friends. We told my fiances family the first time I considered getting it and they were scaring my fiance and me telling us about this person who know this person who had complications and this lady who can "spiritually" heal me from overeating instead of surgery (Hispanic small town problems lol) and I didn't end up doing it. So now we will tell them when I'm out of surgery, I don't need any negative opinions, this is my journey and no one else's!

Ricotta bake sounds so good, I'll check that out thanks! Good thing I love cheese and eggs! I feel like during the pureed stage cottage cheese and yogurt are going to be my only friends 🤣🤣
  21. Hey everyone!! I just wanted to share with everyone some things that have been helping me pre-op and if anyone wants to share what helped them! I am so happy that I have three weeks before my surgery to take the time to really prepare myself. I'll start with In my down time now I have been reading the Big Book on the Gastric Bypass by Alex Brecher. I got it on Amazon Kindle for $8.99 and it has been an amazing source of knowledge that has helped me feel way more at ease about my surgery. It touches on pretty much everything! What are some things you guys are doing to prepare or did prepare? Would love to hear it ❤️

Things that have been helping me Pre-Op

Yes during my carb withdrawl is when I posted that depressed before surgery post lolll. Now I feel much better my fiance ate a burger with Bun in front of me at lunch and before that would have pissed me off to the max and now it didn't bother me haha. We are actually staying on the beach so our cottage has a refrigerator and kitchen I'm very happy I don't have to eat out and ruin my diet. I just made a meal plan for the week of my semi liquid diet I am a huge sauce person so I'm doing a keto lettuce crunchwrap Supreme (keto taco bell) for dinner and a big Mac salad. Going to measure my sauce so I don't go crazy I know it would be better without it but until I go full liquid I'll allow it it's still low carb since made with Mayo!

Things that have been helping me Pre-Op

I am currently off of work so I will be home all day. I'm definetely going to need a lot of distractions! Did the liquid diet make you weak or not want to do anything physically? We have a mini beach getaway planned and I love to go in the water and waves I wonder if that's too much for the supervised starvation ill be on 🤣🤣 the premiere protein cake batter shake definetely takes care of my sweet tooth! I want to be under 300 for my surgery and I have 10 pounds to go I hope I can do it!
