  1. Hi, I too am halfway there at the 6 month mark! I weigh 204! My goal is 150lbs. I know I'm 4 lbs. higher than being exactly at the halfway mark but I'll take it because I was sick for three weeks and couldn't work out. Congrats to all of us Sept. bandsters. It definitely was worth it!

  2. Hi! I was banded on the 12th of Sept. and I lost 21 lbs so far. I'm happy with that but want my fill too because like someone else here said I can eat almost anything I ate BEFORE I got banded (except bread), just not as much of it. That's the scary part because I'm working on willpower alone now until I get that fill and if I had good willpower I wouldn't have needed the band in the fisrt place (ha ha). My first fill is Nov.7th.

  3. Yes, we all felt exactly the same way. I was banded on 9/12 and I felt like I had made a huge mistake the first couple of days. I was depressed. I missed eating. It was all in my head because honestly I wasn 't hungary but seeing everyone else enjoy their food got to me. Then I remembered that's how I got inot this mess. It'll pass. I'm not perfect. I have cheated with the foods slightly (if you call Soup versus broth cheating) but I'll be three weeks post op Friday and I feel good now. Not back to normal but good. I went back to work Monday and was fine.

  4. Hi Kelly, I was 2 weeks post op on Friday the 12th. I was in moderate pain for the first week. I found it hard to lie down so I slept in a chair for the first week. My incisions felt swollen and hot to the touch so it hurt to get up and sit down but that goes away after a couple of days. You cannot drive for a week. I had my proceedure done at ST. Rapheal's in New Haven by Dr. Valin. He made me stay out of work for two weeks. I went back Friday.

  5. Hi Sara Jane. I'm going to see Dr. V Thrs. for my fisrt pre-op appointment. I pray he'll move me on from the liqiud stage to pureed/soft foods. The liquids are getting old. My biggest challegne is trying to get enough Protein in per day. After surgery you can only eat 2 ozs. per meal. 1 Atkins shake is 11 ozs. so like the dietician Diana said I'll take you all day to drink one. Then you can have one other "liquid meal" like 1/4 cup of Jello or Soup broth. I have to say I've been cheating and having 1/4 cup of any kind of Soup as long as it's been blended once or twice a day just to have something to chew. I tried to add Protein powder to my Protein Shake and it was disgusting. Diana said there are some flavorless Protein powders out there so I'll look for those. Please feel free to e mail me (kcerutti@aol.com) if you have any questions as we are close in our surgery dates. I will be 2 weeks post op Friday.

  6. Thanks Sue, I needed the encouragement because I'm with Shauna 80. I had that EXACT experience. I did the "liqiuds" for three days post op and then I lost it and started adding stuff like crackers with my Soup too or having scambled eggs for Breakfast just to be able to chew something. I'm able to eat whatever and then I want more. So today I put my mind to it. Liquids only until I see the doc Thrs. I will be 2 weeks post op this Friday.

  7. Hi Gina, so you were banded on 8/19 and lost how much so far? 35 lbs? That's great! I am one week post op and trying to figure all of this out. How to drink all of the liquid if you can't drink 1/2 hour before with or 1.5 hours after your meals and how I get all the Protein in when I'm only allowed Protein shakes (2ozs. at a time) and Soup. I'm also scared of my first fill. Not the actual fill but the "slimming" , burping and vomiting after I read about on here.

  8. I agree with the Soups and Wendy's chilli. I am one week post op (banded on Sept. 12th) and found after three days on "broth" I needed something more substantial. I know it's all in my head because I really wasn't hungary, it was just in my head that having some real "soup" seemed so much more satisfying to me than plain watery "broth". I've been doing that for the last couple of days and it works fine for me. I eat about 1/4 cup of Soup per meal. I also drink a Protein shake a day that has 15 grams of Protein in it. Together with the Soup, I'm getting in about 25-20 grams of protein per day. I am reading you guys are getting in a lot more protein but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I tried adding some plain Protein powder to my protien shake and flavored Water and it was nasty so that's out. I'm getting about 40 ounces of non caloric flavored water a day in too!

  9. Hi guys , I was banded by Dr. Valin at ST. Rapheal's in New Haven a week ago today on 9/12/08. Yeah! Lost 10 pounds so far with no restriction. It's the easiest weight I EVER lost in my life. I'm a little scared of getting that first fill but...I'm generally very happy if you can't tell. We all go through so much to get that little band.

  10. I'm with you guys on the Soup. I am one wek post op tommorrow. The satisfied feeling from the "liquids" only lasted about three days for me so I looked in my info and saw I could eat soup too as opposed to just broth. So I have made a chili soup, a Tomato Soup and a chicken noodle one. They are very runny, not thick and no clumps in there and I only eat 1/4 cup or 2 ozs. per meal. They go down fine and satisfy me. I just need to get some protien powder to add to them because I'm only getting one Atkins shake a day in and that's about 15 grams of Protein. I think I need more.

  11. I like the Atkins shakes. They have coffee flavor, vanilla, strawberry and a couple different chocolate flavors. I drink 2.5 ozs. 3 times a day for the Protein meals and eat 1 strained chicken or similair Soup once a day for that 4th meal. My doc told me banders can eat 5 to 6 meals per day if needed as long as they don't exceed 3 ounces at a time. I can drink about 30 ounces of crystal light in 24 hours now. I know I need to double it. I am 5 days post op. Banded on 9/12.

  12. I too had my hiatial hernia repaired when I got banded on the 12th. I never knew I had one until a week before surgery when my doc did the endoscopy. He said it was "huge" and I had it a long time. The day after the surgery he told me he repaired it with a couple of stitches and I shouldn't have any problems with heartburn anymore. I have been taking protonix for heartburn for about 5 years. Hopefully, I can get off those now. I am having trouble taking deep breaths like my ribs hurt. Don't know if that's the hernia repair or what.

  13. Mom of twins, I hear you. I got banded on the 12th and am miserable. In a lot of pain (can't breathe, move or walk). But, how in the hell did you get back to work so quickly? I'm taking 2 weeks off and with all the pain I'm in, I'm sure glad I did. I know it'll get better but wow, this really takes you out of circulation for a while. I'm still glad I did it though.
