Hi Everyone-
It has been on my mind lately to start a new post as a positive, motivational, and inspiring thread. I have noticed several threads lately where those considering surgery are asking if it is 'possible' to lose 100 pounds with the band. My answer to that is...Yes, it definitely is. Many say it is not realistic. But I have watched the amazing progress of LBT members on the board, and believe it is not only realistic, it is happening to many of our LBT members all around us. And for those that aren't quite there yet, many members are extremely close. As time goes by with lapband increasing in popularity and the number of LBT members growing everyday, I believe the list is only going to increase by leaps and bounds.
Any and all weight loss is a huge accomplishment for us all. While I realize that many members don't need to lose 100 pounds or more, many do. And for those who do, it offers not only motivation to see that other bandsters have done it...but most importantly it offers the hope that it can be done with the band!
This will be a running thread to offer positive motivation, inspiration, hope, and encouragement. Please PM me or post here to have your name added to the growing list when you hit 100 pounds lost, or if you want your amount lost updated. Congratulations to everyone on any and all weight loss!

I workout 4 days a week
2 days 1 hour cardio and half hour weights
2 days 30 mins each weight training and abs.
I have lost 105 lbs, so it works for me.
-
Yea its nornally our own fault and we do learn from it......... again and again.........
-
I can only share my experience coz lots of people get stuck just once and they learn how not to do it again, but I got stuck quite a lot as I approached restriction. But with each episode, I learnt a little more about what I had to do to not have it happen.
Having said that I got stuck a couple of nights ago after not being stuck for over 1/2 a year because my band felt tight and I ate rice that wasn't properly cooked, and I ate it fast because I was talking to someone and not paying attention. Because I hadn't been stuck in ages, I just assumed I'd be ok. But I obviously wasn't!
So if you make mistakes like that, it can happen.
I have had that happen and it does suck!!! I ll be 3 years with my band feb 2.
down 100
. it never ends....:-)
-
I felt the same way, but think Positive!!!!! Your coming a longway with wonderfull results. You Feel Good and You Look good. The extra skin is the last part of this jounary and a minor part for the great appearance you presently have. Just think where you started and to think would you have ever gotten this far, specially you your boyfriends support. The next stag will just be another prize for you... YOuR Nunber ONE!!!
Anyone else feeling depressed about extra skin?? I am really trying to keep positive and know that I can start talking to a plastic surgeon soon. But lately its been really hard!! Looking in the mirror and all you see is extra skin!!! Its gross to me. Even though my boyfriend constantly tells me how beautiful I am its like I dont believe him.
How do I even deal with this? its been 2 weeks of me feeling disgusted with myself. Ive tried looking back at pre surgery pictures and those are also disgusting but its not helping!!
Is this a normal phase??
-
I work out 3 maybe 4 (xtra cardio) days a week. i do 2 days(weekends) of cardio for 1 hour and workout for about 30mins after.
the other days i work with a trainer for 30mins
i have lost 102 lbs and tone up good.

My Port was replaced with a low profile one...
Yes, rest and recover and keep us posted! Would love to know if your port was involved at all...or is it high enough up that the doc wouldnt be near it?
-
Hi Bob, had mine done May 3 I agree pain wasn't that bad after the first day. results ar pretty good and still healing.
I thought the weight of the skin remove was more as well, Dr said most people believe that. mine was about 6 lbs.
Thanks all!!
Unfortunately, I am fighting the nicotine demon. First cigarette when I came home gave me such a head rush that is scared the shit out of me and I swore I wouldn't light another.
I just put the 5th one out. I need to stop this insane habit before it kills me.
I only have 2 left and can't drive and my neighbors would never drive to get more. So, hopefully tomorrow will be easier.
PS. They released me about 24 hours following surgery. Not same day.
-
My panni is scheduled for May 3 2011, can't wait for the extra skin is removed. its cost about 7000 all together
in the hospital and out patient. Has anyone seen a smaller waist ? do you see a difference?
How long was it before you were able to move around? lots of pain?
I am scheduled for a panniculectomy 5/24/11, how are you doing thus far?
-
I got a date for a panniculectomy but now was told that my port may have to be changed to a smaller one before the panniculectomy. i have to pay for the
panniculectomy because the insurance don't cover it after 3 appeals and 5 doctor leters. Is it true that the port has to be changed? i keep hitting a brick wall,,,,,,,, help
I just had a Panniculectomy this past Monday 20th. So far I am happy with it. I just wish he could have done the TT as I wanted it done. But he told me that the Lap Band port was in the way and he would not touch that. I am in compression garments for 4 weeks and doing well. I was cut from hip to hip for the Panni with one drain. He did not have to move my belly button and I did not stay over night. I was given the choice to stay but I hate over night stays at hospitals, can't rest!!!! If you have any questions give me a shout!:rolleyes2:
-
good luck, i couldn't get it covered... on my third appeal
paying for it and hope to get appeal to cover it up
My insurance didn't pay anything for my band..... Insurances states it will not pay for any weight loss related procedures. Insurances is BCBS high risk pool Texas
How do you get insurances to pay? Many state their BCBS paid for their plastic surgery.
Please tell me how! I NEED a TT but am still 50 lbs from goal. If I can get this figured out I can at least plan toward a TT when I lose more weight.
-
Where in New York can you do this?
Is there a center? or doctor?
-
I'm down 84 lbs my goal is 6lbs away and its the hardest to get to. I work out 4 days a week with 3 day of 1 hour cardio. Had 2 adjustments and don't see the need for another when i'm so close. Was banded on feb 2 2009

Your's came out GREAT!!
-
I'm waiting for an approval from UHC for a panniculectomy.
I have lost 67LBS down from 283,. had my band on Feb 2 2010.
Hate this excess skin, the rash's and the cuts kill me.
Has anyone had this done and are there pictures? I was told the a Tummy Tuck wouldn't be covered but this will. :smile2:
-
How long before you get a Tummy Tuck?
I'm down 70 lbs and really don't like all this loose skin. only 15 lbs to go

I know that feeling. I still feel fat and i know i'm not after loseing 105lbs. I'm healthier than when I began, off all meds. But I still think fat. i guess its just something just to work on. Congratualtions on your success
