I had my surgery june 11th in the U.K. I’m doing ok but I could sleep the day away and still sleep at night. I take all my Vitamins and supplements. At 8 weeks post I wondered if anyone else feels the same.

I hope your doing great after your surgery x

I had my surgery June 12th. I just started getting my energy back the last 2 weeks. I did have to increase my calories though. 500-600 calories wasn't doing it. I was trying to exercise but I was exhausted all the time. I Increased my cals to about 1000. It gives me enough energy to exercise but it has slowed the weight loss. But I'd rather lose slower and feel better.

  2. I am 6 weeks post surgery and I've been pretty open about it. Mainly because it's easier to explain my small meals and I don't have people trying to get me to eat. What drives me crazy are the people that when they find out you had surgery, give advice like "why didn't you just walk a little more?" I want to scream "gee why didn't I think of that!". Instead, I grit my teeth, smile and say, "it doesn't always work that way". Really, do people think that I would have major surgery and spend the next 6 weeks drinking liquids and trying to reintroduce myself to food if instead all I had to do was a walk a little more?

What’s everybody eating I’ll be a month on the 11th.

I'm half way through my 5th week. Graduated from puree to minced chicken. I make a high Protein mac salad with a little bit of cut up Pasta, a little Shredded cheese, minced chicken, hard boiled egg and low fat mayo. After puree, if tastes like a gourmet meal. I also was craving veggies. I made a summer squash, zucchini, mushroom saute today.

  4. From what I was told by my doctor, changes in hormones after surgery is normal and may affect mood. I know that doesn't help solve the depression, but it may help to know that it is normal and temporary. If you find it doesn't ease up or that it gets worse, consider temporarily going on anti-depressants. This surgery is difficult enough without trying to get through the mental aspects without help. After a few months, you can (with help from your doctor) taper off the meds and see if your mood is better. Also, if you are not already seeing a therapist, get one if you can. I see one and I can tell you, just having a stranger to spit everything out to that isn't going to judge is amazing. This is a hard time, there is no reason why you have to do this alone.

  5. Sorry posted to wrong thread. Didn't know how to delete.

Had my surgery June 12th. I am 3 weeks out and down 18 lbs! I just finished pureed foods and have started on a little bit of soft foods. I haven't really been hungry, up until today. Today I am soooo hungry. I'm not sure how to handle it. All I can think about is "real food". I had cream of wheat for Breakfast, a smoothie for lunch and Soup for dinner. I DO NOT want a Protein Drink (I am sooo sick of them and it is all I can do to choke them down now). I want macaroni salad and a hamburger, lol. Of course I am NOT going to do that, but where did this come from all of a sudden and what do I do?

I feel old at 55 doing this. I went straight for the DS surgery because I want results and don’t want to go back for more weight loss surgeries (skin removal is a possibility). I definitely don’t want to do that again. I had complications after my surgery on the 14th. I was in the hospital an extra 3 days. I didn’t want to post and scare anyone but I’m a week out from surgery now and doing much better. I just need to figure out my eating/drinking schedule since they can’t be done within 30 minutes of each other.
I am super excited for the results. From max weight before the pre-surgery diet to now, I’m down 25 pounds!!!

I've got you beat age wise. I'll be 58 in August, lol. The complications have resolved, but I am soooo tired. All I do is sleep. I go back for my 2 week check up the 27th. Hoping I can move onto egg salad and refried Beans. I'm not really hungry, I just feel weak and think I need some food.

Congratulations…… I’m going to Mercy Hospital in Long Island

My surgery was June 12th. I went to Beaumont Hospital in Riverview MI. Had a few complications and ended up staying there for 5 days. I'm home and feeling a little better. I just hope the negative issues resolve. My cousin suggested I think of it like childbirth. You have a baby and swear that you will never do that again. The following year you forget about the pain and do it all over again with another child. I'll wait 6 months before I decide if this was the right decision for me.

  8. I had sleeve surgery 4 days ago, May 12th. First, I developed a liver bleed and had to have blood. I wasn't able to move around and got Fluid in my lungs, now I have uncontrolled bowel movements and I am pooping myself. It's Friday May 16th and I'm still in the hospital. I'm hoping to go home today. Please tell me the uncontrolled diarrhea will pass. I'm so discouraged. I'm wondering if I didn't make a huge mistake.
