    Ibuprofen 1 Yr Post Op

I'm 4 months out from gastric sleeve and I asked my doc about it. She said try not to take it,but if I have to , take a prilosec before taking it. Sometimes I just can't get the relief I need with tylenol. I'm glad to be able to rely on ibuprofen once in a while.

    My dog lost weight - I didn't

This is crazy .... I've taken my dog to the dog park every day for the last 2 months. We walk around the edge of the 4 acre park. (Some days I'm panting harder than the dogs when I'm done walking .LOL) Took the dog to the vet -- he lost 2 pounds !!! I stepped on my scale - haven't lost an ounce in the 2 months we've been going there !!!! It's not fair !!!!! LOL Okay - I just had to rant about it in this forum

    Pre-Op Diet Question?

Before surgery,I was supposed to be on a total liquid diet. I misunderstood and thought I could have some solid food as long as it was under 500 cal. a day . I thought it was supposed to be "MOSTLY" liquid . I still lost 8 pounds and everything was okay. I ate a couple shrimp , a bite of chicken, a bite of this and a bite of that. After surgery,I asked if my liver was soft enough and it was. I don't think that little bit of solid foods made a difference.
  8. It's funny you should mention this ! I'm a side sleeper, but every once in a while i'll find myself sleeping on my back ! I NEVER slept on my back before. I don't think I snore though -my husband would make sure to tell me LOL I think the reason I can sleep on my back now is because I must have lost weight in my butt and I can lay flatter rather than have that big rear end make my back arch ! It's funny the odd little things we notice after surgery.
  9. I had terrible diarrhea for 14 days after surgery ! The doctor said "Liquid in,liquid out" and not to worry. As soon as I started solid food , it gradually went away. It IS miserable ,isn't it?

    Toilet issues

I have the same situation ..... I had the sleeve done 3 months ago and I'm going 4-5 times during the day and even during the night. I've gone from being constipated all my life , to being an "efficient food machine" - food in - food out. When I mentioned it to the dietician , she said I'd self regulate in time.
  11. I've done good doing both ...eons ago I lost 40 pounds counting calories and the year before surgery I've lost 30 pounds counting carbs. I gained back the weight counting calories , but not counting carbs. My team always stresses calorie counts .... and when I mentioned I count carbs, they kinda looked at me like I have 2 heads and went on talking about calories. LOL It's so hard to count calories, especially if there's an item with alot of ingredients in it . Ex; Broccoli salad " broccoli, sunflower seeds, cherry tomatoes, green onions, green peppers etc. " Dietician said weigh every ingredient ,add up calories and divide by servings. No thank you . I don't want to feel like I'm back in math class LOL. What do you count ? Have you done either and lost doing it ? I want to count carbs and protein ,but they have me questioning my choice.
  12. Hi Pat - I'm 68 and my weight loss has been slow, too. I can't exercise they way they want me to, but I try ! I've only lost 13 pounds in 3 months since surgery , but the doc and the dietician are blaming the bronchitis I've had for 2 months now. (The cough just won't go away ) I like to snack on string cheese , ritz crackers and I also bake some great cookies, they're like low carb trail mix in cookie form and I enjoy them because they take so long to chew ! LOL
  13. That saying must be true ----- "Every cloud has a silver lining " . Thanks for posting that story - it's an inspiration

    Reaching protein goal.

I get most of my protein from meat, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs and regular cheese. Have you tried any of these ? I never thought I'd like yogurt, but I'm loving the Dannon light greek vanilla

    Skinny Syrup

I use Walden Farms products. They are usually zero carbs and barely any calories and the syrups are awesome. I can usually find most of what I use in grocery stores, but I have ordered online when I can't find something. Right now I have strawberry, carmel and chocolate syrups , maple and bacon flavored salad dressing and I tried peanut butter spread ( not too good but now I know ) Here's the link to their website so you can see all the products they sell. https://waldenfarms.com/pages/products
  17. My scale is slowing down again... so being a U Tube junkie, I found this 10 minute video that explains why what the scale says isn't that important. It's worth a watch ! She gives a good , simple explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2oBp1GuwMY
  18. I thought it would be alot more than that ! I can't imagine how that scale could know more about me than I do ! LOL Too many numbers would drive me nuts 😛!!!
  19. I can't imagine what that scale costs !!!

    Super Nervous

You're only fearful because it's human to be scared of the unknown. You've never had surgery before,so you don't know what to expect. I suggest researching the heck out of it and you'll find the answer to every question you have online ( and here !) I was probably scared as heck at my first surgery, too .... but I'm an old pro now I look forward to the rest , the peacefulness of falling asleep ,waking up feeling like I've had the best sleep of my life and everybody waiting on me hand and foot LOL You'll be like the queen bee with all these worker bees trying to keep you comfy. 😄 It'll be fine and don't be afraid to ask any question you want on this forum ! Good luck !

    Slow poke

From the day of my surgery in May till now ,I've only lost 14 pounds. That's in 3 months ! ( I've lost weight before the surgery, but I'm counting from the Day Of . ) But I've been losing inches ,gone off of a couple meds and my bloodwork has come back just about perfect. As much as I'd like to see the scale go down - I consider those things a victory Like everyone has said..."trust the program" .... it'll happen !

    Immi Ramen

I watch the Keto Twins on U Tube and they did a video using the noodles. They always give their honest opinion of the things they try. Here's a link to one of their videos : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xylw6mQYq_E

    How is everyone feeling?

That's fantastic news !!! 72 pounds is unbelievable !!! I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that those seizures will go away for good now that you had the surgery As many times as I read the success stories here...I'm still amazed at how many lives were actually saved by this procedure. We're a lucky bunch !

    How is everyone feeling?

Hi Jeanne I'm 3 months out from surgery and everything is going great. I'm one of the lucky ones - not a single problem . I just had my first bloodwork done since surgery and my numbers were perfect. I'm building up stamina for walking ,am less out of breath and hardly sweating at all. My joints are getting less painful and stronger every day. Like so many people before me have said... "I wish I would have done this sooner" (I was 68 when I had the sleeve done ) I did my first closet clean out - got rid of my big clothes and all my new clothes are 2 sizes smaller ! I'm just loving every day of this new lifestyle !!! Eating healthy and drinking feels so natural - no problems at all. It's my 2nd and only chance to get this right ! I see you're pre-op .... you'll do great ! How far along are you in the program ?
