  1. I did a crazy amount of research before I saw the doc. I wanted to know ahead of time what I was getting myself into. When we met and he was telling me about the surgery , I knew what he was talking about . I even knew the name of a couple instruments ! He laughed and said "Boy - you DID study !" I was able to ask some questions that he forget to cover . It pays to do your homework - I was totally prepared.
  2. I was told if I had to have ibuprofen , just take it once in a while and take a Prilosec before taking it. I'm 5 months out from gastric sleeve and have taken it about 3 times already with no problem. I also have some pains that Tylenol just won't help.
  3. That article was on point. I saw myself in some of it. Thanks for posting it .

    Anyone else find they're...

No more than usual for me. I was and will always be a Klutz. Last month , I had a freak accident with the refrigerator door. Tore my big toenail off while closing it. Stuff like that could only happen to me. LOL You lost alot of weight - our bodies have to readjust to everything . Maybe this is just another adjustment it's making. That's just a guess. If it really starts to bother you , mention it to someone on your team. They can put your mind at ease.

    WLS + GLP-1

When he said Ozempic was expensive - I looked it up. It's about $900 a month in the US !!!! ( That's without insurance ) What a great video ! Thank you for posting it !

    BIGGEST nsv of my life!!!!!

I couldn't stop smiling reading your post !! Dreams DO come true !!!! I'm soooooo proud of you
  7. I always said...... "the surgery is the EASY part" ..... it's what comes after is the real test .
  8. That's happened to me once in a while . I break out in a sweat while eating. I just chalked it up to my stomach working hard to digest my food. I'm interested to see if anyone comes up with an explanation - I'm wondering about it,too.
  9. I count "net" carbs ( Carbs minus fiber ) I love the low carb lifestyle ! Before surgery,I lost 40# doing low carb and my body slammed on the brakes and said "nope " at 210 and wouldn't let me lose anymore. That's why I went for surgery ! Now that I'm 5 months out - my body is saying NOPE again ....*sigh*... I've been stalled for 3 & a half months !! I honestly don't think there's any real way to break it ,we just have to wait it out. There's so many videos about people that say they KNOW how to break a stall. I think it's all BS - especially the ones that try and sell you a certain vitamin or remedy. We'll get there . PS ......... I'm giving you a standing ovation for losing 100 lbs !!!!!! You're an inspiration
  10. This will be my first fall/winter since surgery in May. Let me start out by saying - I've always been hot. I haven't owned any long sleeve tops. We keep the house temp at 65ish. I sleep with the window open and a fan on all year round. I have to take off my coat in the store while grocery shopping in winter. I wear a light coat while everyone's bundled up for winter. BUT NOW --------------I'm finding out that I'm C-O-L-D !!!!! It's 49 out. I'm ready to drag out my winter coat !!! LOL I've been scouring the Goodwill the last week for sweaters and sweatshirts so I can be comfortable. What a change !! My insulation is gone LOL How do you handle the cold ? Does it affect you now that some of your "insulation" is gone ?
  11. My dietician always writes on my record "unknowledgable about eating correctly".... LOL It used to get me mad,but now I just laugh at it. Maybe she does it for insurance purposes or to justify her job ...who knows. She makes me write down everything I eat ,which has gotten to be a pain ,but I do it . It does help me keep up with my protein intake. I see her on Oct.25 of this month . I've written everything down and I've been at a stall for 3 and a half months now .I'm anxious to see what she'll say .

    Bariatric Burr

I'm another one who dripped sweat - the back of my hair was always wet. It was so embarrassing . Every pocket I had plus my purse was stuffed with Kleenex and paper towels. Like was said-I'll take being cold over sweating any day.
  14. It's nice to put a face to a poster ! Good luck with U Tube ! My only comment -it's not criticism, but my personal preference is to watch shorter videos. I'm subscribing to your channel to see all the insights you have into the weight loss journey !!! What a great announcement !

    Bariatric Burr

I just did a post on being cold . I love the "bariatric brrr" LOL I'm 5 months out and yep - I'm cold now that fall is here. It was unheard of for me to want the furnace on when it's 50 outside..... and yet ...here we are. 😁 Brrr....
  16. WOW ........ you ARE amazing !!! It's like being re-born I wish you all the success in the world !

    Feeling good!

What wonderful news to hear! I'm 5 months out from VSG and I feel the same way. We all got the tool (surgery) to succeed and now it's up to us to use it. I hope the journey to your goal is a home run !!!

    Protein infused water

Yes they do . My dietician told me to count anything I can drink as my liquid intake. Protein drinks count as protein AND liquid

    Feeling discouraged

I had to do it ONLY because they measured my neck and it was 11" - the supposed size of the neck that indicated sleep apnea. They just went by that number - even though I filled out a questionairre and my answers were all negative to sleep apnea. My test turned out to be near perfect sleep . I'm still mad that they wasted my time on that !
  22. I can relate to the feeling of I'll never get there...... my number that had me raging was 210. I could NOT get past that number no matter what I did. I swore I could be dead for 2 weeks and still weigh 210. That was the number that drove me to have VSG. My new demon is 190. I've been stalled at that number now for 2 and a half months ! Those damn numbers will drive us crazy !!!!!

    Ozempic Face

To me, I think it's just FANTASTIC that you are keeping such a watchful eye on the people who are supposed to be caring for you. I remember when I was a kid,my mom believed you should "always do what the doctor says" . I grew up believing that ,and as a result I was always afraid to speak up or get a second opinion. What you're doing - even just thinking about it - shows you're an insightful and intelligent person ! Don't EVER think "it's none of my business" because it IS your business to have the best caregiver you can find. Outward appearances can show alot of inward flaws. (I'm thinking of those plastic surgeons who have their own faces done to the extreme - they look like someone shrink wrapped their faces ! LOL ) Go find someone you'll have faith in and check their on line reviews, too. Good Luck!!!!
  25. I took Prilosec for 25 YEARS !!!!! Yep - That long !!!! Now that I've had the sleeve and my hiatel hernia repaired,I was able to wean myself off of them and I don't need them any more No rebound effect. The pathology report came back on the part of my stomach that was removed and it reported multiple polyps in there due to the years of Prilosec use. My doc didn't seem concerned about it . All those years ,I never knew the hernia could be repaired !
