Hello everyone !
Had my surgery yesterday. I am doing good. Except for gas pains. No other pain. So far so good. Gas is really bothersome though. I am doing a lot more walking today. It’s 4 am and I am up and walking. When will this gas pain be gone 🤔. I have been having only Water since yesterday. Today I plan to try some clear Protein . This was my first surgery. funny thing was I remember rolling into the operating room and then the next thing was in the recovery. I thought for a min the surgery was not done or something and I was reaching for my stomach to check 😂. After a while I asked nurse if it was done. She said Ofcourse honey 😅Maggie rose reacted to this -

Good luck tomorrow!!!!
wow thats something new I heard. you are right, its interesting . I will never understand why there are so many diff pre and post op guidelines .
Thank you for the wishes. my first surgery ever. SOOO nervous but looking forward to living a better life with less health issues.

Hi
I have a VSG scheduled on Monday 06/19. I am required to be on 2 days of liquid diet. instruction says I am allowed zero-calorie liquids in between Protein Shakes
it includes sugar-free popsicles. However they are 15 cal each and has 6 g sugar alcohols. I am confused.
Can I have them or not?

These are instructions I was given:
2 days prior to surgery, start the following:-
LIQUIDS ONLY (Premier Protein Shakes for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner). No solid food and no Snacks during these 2 days. Your stomach needs to be emptied of food particles by the time of surgery. Make sure to drink plenty of Water during these 2 days, so that you arrive on your surgery day well hydrated.
-
NO SNACKING in between meals. However, you may have zero-calorie liquids in between meals such as water, Crystal Light, sugar-free Jello, sugar-free popsicles.
-
DIABETIC PATIENTS may need to lower their medications during these 2 days to avoid hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
-
If you eat any solid food during the 2 days prior to surgery, you operation will be cancelled.

Thank You Brandiwine77. Hope you feel better soon.. I am sure your medical team will have something for it? are you able to meet your liquid goals?
It gets better is what I heard.

Good luck on your surgery date. Met my surgeon yesterday. He put me on a pre-op diet . 2 Protein Drinks and one 400-500 cal dinner and only liquids 2 days prior to surgery. June 19 surgery . I am so nervous but excited now . It’s getting real .

I am with Kaiser Socal too. my surgery is tentatively scheduled for June 19th. I have to meet the surgeon on June06. I have not reached the target weight goal he had asked me to reach. so not sure if my surgery will get postponed. fingers crossed. I loved the Options classes too. I took it last year. Good luck on your journey!.
