Agreed. My doctor said that extreme temperatures can cause spasms in the beginning, so best to stick with room temp for now.On 05/21/2023 at 20:39, LindsayT said: -

Yes, thank you SO much @CarolineLittle for putting this post together and keeping up with everyone. It’s so sweet. Many hugs to you and your recovery. Just know it gets better everyday. On 05/07/2023 at 19:23, CarolineLittle said:
LittleRouxenyhood and Lindsay, I'm sorry recovery continues to be rough on you both. Big hugs.
I wonder if bypass recovery is tougher as the sleevers checking in seem to be having easier recoveries. Then again everyone recovers differently.
Two days left for me, definitely starting to feel the nerves.
I’m sure each surgery varies, and also whether it’s done robotic assisted or not. Obviously everyone’s body is different, but just glad we have this platform to talk about the differences.CarolineLittle reacted to this -
Same here! Yes, this stage is dragging. On 05/07/2023 at 12:20, LindsayT said:
I'm so ready for this stage to be over. On the upside, I've lost 22 lbs since the start of the pre-op diet. So, roughly 3 weeks. -
I’m having the same issues. Except it’s my mom not a husband lol. I know they mean well but idk how to get the point across to them that I literally cannot drink much. I’m also having the phantom hunger, I just want to start the soft/puréed foods already. I’m sick of the liquids. Pain is still prevalent and I can’t even wipe myself! Very frustrating. I’m just glad to know I’m not alone in this struggle because I have been feeling very hard on myself since I’m having such bad pains and I’m trying not to compare myself to others on this journey. I have to be honest I’ve had the intrusive thoughts of “what have I done to myself!?” “Is this worth it!?” 😔On 05/06/2023 at 22:16, LindsayT said:
Y'all, I'm so sad all the time. Pain, phantom hunger, family members that don't understand. My husband, bless him, is trying, but I feel like he is forcing me to drink all day. I tell him that a sip of Water feels like I drank a whole gallon. It's uncomfortable for me. I'm making my goals, or at least close to it. It's so frustrating. I keep telling myself it's temporary. That things will get better. That it will be worth it. But right now, it just sucks.

Had my RNY on 5/3/23. I won’t sugar coat it, I’ve been in extreme pain. Mainly from my incision sites. Thankfully I haven’t had any nausea and I have been passing the gas fairly well. Took a while though. Like Lindsay said, walking around helps. Also taking a shower helps too. Good luck to everyone

I absolutely went through this! I am currently on my 2-week pre-op liquid diet. The anticipation/nervousness is what made me want to eat and eat, then finally the night before my pre-op diet I went to Texas Roadhouse with my family and had a great meal lol. I felt oddly “at peace” after that meal and with going into the liquid diet and buckled down to start. It’s been going better than expected—obviously I have a bad moment here and there but I make sure to track everything (I like on paper best or vlogging). Tracking helps me keep myself accountable. I also know my “triggers” and do what I can to avoid them especially on this diet. I know for me, personally, I was more scared of failing, or not being able to do it. But like the others have said, having a great support system helps a lot. Knowing you’re not alone on this journey is super important. Just keep telling yourself that the liquid diet is for a medical reason for your safety during the surgery and that if you can get through this, you can get through anything. On 04/25/2023 at 10:28, Vacs77 said:
Hello everyone!
I will be starting my pre-op diet next week and since getting my surgery date I feel like I can't stop eating. Did anyone else go through this or is going through this now? I have already cut the sodas and my beloved Starbucks, but I feel like I am compensating with eating more.
You got this!!! -

I literally just said this to someone the other day—good to have this support system! What are you most afraid of?

My surgeon has me on it for 28 days, I'm on Day 12 now. It's going fine, I'm not craving anything and my meals are filling. I just miss having variety of food so I'm looking forward to having that back.
My plan consists of 3 replacement meals a day, and 2 cups of vegetables wth 2 of my meals. I'm having Soups and bars mostly, sometimes a Optifast dessert. I don't do shakes.
If you're shakes only stay strong, it's only temporary. We all got this, were all so close now!
I’m on shakes only and “clear” sugar-free liquids. It hasn’t been as bad as I thought as far as hunger, but oh my lord Day 3 was horrible. Caffeine withdrawal Migraine for 3 days and fatigue. Finally getting over that bump.
Good luck, everyone!! -
