    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

I can't do meat yet, will be July 5th before I can, but I'm definitely excited to eat beans and deviled eggs, lol. And the not drinking does stink. I had to take a little sip a min ago while eating my lunch because I had a coughing fit. And yeah, that and me eating one bite too many I guess led to some foamies, yuck.

    OOTD

My favorite movie theater has heated recliners that will roast you out, lol. Fantastic!

    NOOOO!!! My poor face.

Is this hormonal flush the cause of flipping hot flashes? I swear it's insane. I've always tended towards cold, and especially the last couple years as I no longer have a thyroid. But the last couple mornings I've driven to work with AC on full blast, and surprised there isn't flakes in the car, lol. I mean, yeah I'm in AL, but not sure I've ever had my AC in my car set to 62 before, LOL.

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

Surgery was 6/7. Last night I did a deviled egg and a little spoon of some soft, and fantastic, pinto beans. Took 2 gas-x just in case, lol. It was so good. I'm having the same for lunch today.

Mine said 3-4 weeks. It's hot as hades here in AL too, and I'm with you on wanting to swim.

Same. My "official" start date for soft foods is Wed, but I've been testing the waters gently. I did mess up and eat a little egg and some diet lemonade from Chick Fil A. Not sure if it was the egg, or the lemonade, which I forgot had pulp, but I had about 3-4 small bites of egg, and a few tiny sips of lemonade (I had dry throat, so broke the rule) and it did not stay down at all. But I've done some mashed potatoes, a little oatmeal, a little cheese, cottage cheese, and those have seemed to be fine. For me too the actual food has made me feel better physically, and less exhausted.

I've been on liquid or clear since 5/31 and it SUCKS. Surgery was 6/7. I'm not going to lie, it does suck. I've eaten a tiny amont of soft foods that are in my next stage coming up next week, but trying not to push it too much. Let me tell you though, that tiny tiny portion of mashed potatoes was fantastic, lol.

    surgery is Monday!

Good luck! Mine was 6/7. Doing ok. Didn't have to use pain meds after surgery. Did need nausea meds, and still need those sometimes. Having an issue with being backed up now, and that is making me miserable. Been back to work since Monday. Y'all can do it!

    Gaining weight

Remember that no amount of exercise can outdo a bad diet, so definitely focus on your diet vs exercise, and try not to worry about not exercising right now, especially if you are having issues. As soon as I was getting close to getting a date, I started cutting waaaay back on carbs, and drinking more protein shakes and eating greek yogurt, to get myself used to it, since I would be eating that stuff for a while pre and post surgery. I didn't really exercise and ended up losing over 10 lbs on my own before surgery. Good luck!

    Recent VSG peeps...

I'm a week post op today. I went back to work on Monday (desk job) I am definitely exhausted, but I am powering through. I wish I could have WFH this week, but my coworkers have NO clue that I had surgery and WFH would have caused their nosy selves to be in my business and ask too many questions. Honestly, hoping I can go to bed pretty early tonight. I haven't been able to Mon/Tues because I'm also in grad school. Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment, lol. I definitely recommend a couple days depending on your job, with potentially the flex ability to WFH, or go home if needed.
  11. Hey, I'm in AL too. Where are you having yours done at?

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

Hey all. Just an update on first day back to work. I was tired. And came back to mass emails and stuff to do at work. Went to dinner with my bff and an out of town friend. The bff knows about surgery but the other doesn’t. Had a little smooth tomato soup and brought the rest home. Definitely more tired than normal, but I did power through. I have already been to town a few times and walking in Target and such since 6/7.

Thanks!! I'm tired, that's for sure. I could lay my head down on my desk and be out, lol.

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

Hope all who are recovering are doing well! Mine was 6/7. Back to work today! I don’t want to go back today simply because I know it always sucks after being gone for a couple days. Oh well. The coworkers don’t know why I took off, as they are nosy and judgmental. We shall see how today goes! Good luck to those having surgery today!

My right incision is more tender too. It’s the largest and the bruise is horrific. It’s the spot where they removed my stomach. It also doesn’t help that I have an allergy to the adhesive. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Surgery done. Got home about 1ish. Napping off and on, as still exhausted. The gas pain is no fun

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

I'm tomorrow with you and Amanda, and yeah girl, I'm freaking out too. I'm at work, and training a new person, so I've been occupied and not able to freak out much this morning, but yeah, I'm so nervous. I hate being put under. Horrible fear of mine. I'm still doing it too, but I'm just scared. And I'm nervous that shenanigans will happen when I get there due to some issues I had to pre-admission testing.
  19. Mine's been about 6 months from initial appt in Dec 2022 to surgery (this Wed) but other factors happened, such as emergency gallbladder surgery 2 days after my first appt, grad school started in Jan, my mom passed in Jan. as well, so I was not in any mindset until late March or so. I had to have 2 nutrition classes, psych eval, PCP clearance, labs, and my diet is 1 week liquid before sugery and all clear the day before.

I had ribeye and ice cream from a local place that makes fresh ice cream, lol. I'm not a huge ice cream fan, but theirs is fantastic. Where are you in the South? I'm in AL.

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

Hey there. I’m Wed too and I’m nervous too. I had an irregular ekg and had to have a stress test and the cardiologist cleared me. Went for pre op testing and they did another ekg and it was abnormal too so it’s freaking me out. I was cleared and I know the drs know more than me. My husband tells me it’s nerves and anxiety that is keeping me worried. And I have zero doubts that is true. I’ll be a ball or nerves until after surgery.
