Nothing like a death to bring out the worst in people! I'm sorry for your loss and you're awesome for stepping up to help her. My last Grandparent, my maternal Grandmother passed a few months ago also. Thankfully my Mum and her 2 living siblings have been on the same page. Take time to breathe and let the stress go. Keep reminding yourself 9f y9ur worth and don't let the BS get to you too much.

Oh I sympathise! I had to take Quick Eze a few times the past 24 hours, so much pain with reflux. I've gone back on my Rabeprazole my surgeon prescribed me. I'm not sure one small dosage a day will be enough, so might have to contact my surgeon to discuss it. Or not, hoping taking it each morning helps stave it off. It works by neutralising stomach acid. Did you grt a reflux prescription? Grab one if it keeps up. It's horrid.

Hang in there Allison! Mine broke around 2.5 weeks. It hopefully happens soon for you. Look what you have lost, phenomenal!

Just mashed at home, no butter or milk, just a bit of stock. The cheese sauce was from a packet and lasted me about 4 serves. TBH I won't have it now, but that stage was just about getting food in. You could just stir a good protein cheese in the mash if you wanted cheese. I've got a good low fat cheese now that's 7 grams of protein per 25 gram serve. I love cheese! Haven't opened it yet though, my intention is to use it mostly for snacks and I find 3 meals filling.

I mainly had mashed potato with cheese sauce and pureed black bean soup. Those were really the only 2 things that appealed to me at the time.

That's awesome Lipman! My stall looks to be over with a 1 kilogram/2.2 pound loss. Protein been stressing me out, it's so hard at this stage when you don't do shakes and aren't a fan of powders and are vegetarian. Even protein drinks are ick now, just too sweet. I can't wait for normal foods, been saving high protein recipes. I'll go back and update our list soon as there's a few names missing. I'd love to know how @Synlee is going.

    Help!!!! POST OP

I'm 4 weeks post op today and have eaten Cruskits, a wafery airy cracker with cheese just fine. As long as you chew it well it'd be fine. It's a fairly soft cracker. I'd say the pain is a full tummy. It's a learning process knowing when to stop. I serve my food in a 125ml cup as I know that's my limit.
  8. I've lost a similar weight to you in roughly the same time span. I did lose more post op than pre op though, 7kgs vs 10kgs. In the infamous 3 week stall now. Plus I'm backed up and working on fixing that issue. Taking a break from the scales. You need to be patient. This isn't the 100 metre sprint, it's an ultra marathon. If you do a bit of googling you'll see that the first 6 weeks isn't a time to expect anything much. You're body is adjusting to its new way of life. Hang in there, I'd anticipate you'll have weeks of great losses given you're starting a bit higher. It will come off nice and steady. Join our May Surgery thread, we're all there for each other.

The only thing I ended up taking out was my tablet and charger. I wore the same clothes home. I slept all day after my surgery, just waking up for small periods. The next day I had a 2 hour nap and went to bed at 7.30pm. I focussed on drinking so I could go home! Good luck next week!

Same, don't stress too much. This initial phase is hard, just do your best. Once we're all eating normally it should be easier to hit protien goals. I'm vegetarian so its a bit harder and I'll be relying a bit on the snacks between meals to be high protein. I cant fit in snacks yet. I think i need to set a timer to drink. I can drink just fine, I need to force myself too though.

I'm allowed to start incorporating soft foods now, a week early, yay! I've gotten the bit too full feeling twice now, it's uncomfortable until it moves down. I seem to hiccup when full sometimes so use that as a stop signal. @Synlee how are you?

Yes liquids pass in 5 to 15 minutes, pretty quick. 100 ounces is amazing.

Yes I can drink easily too, so grateful for that. I've had 2 good days in a row now with little nausea, feeling pretty good overall. Eating 3 to 4 ounces per meal. I've hit the stall too, actually put on a pound, not letting it worry me, just part of the journey. I'm so constipated so taking stuff, hope it works asap.

    Drinking..not sipping

This is good to know as I'm so thirsty and I can drink easily but didn't want to overdo it.

Yes I'm sleeping so much Lindsay. And I feel pretty weak. I still have nausea every day. My post op appt was today and I just couldn't go so thankfully we did it by phone. He's ordered blood work for me as my nausea at this stage is abnormal and wants to see if somethings going on. He's also sent me scripts for 2 new meds. He says my fatigue is due in part to rapid weight loss. I've lost 11kgs or 24.2pds in 2 weeks which he was surprised to hear. I'm to to stop my vitamins for 2 weeks to see if that helps. The nausea was so bad this morning I threw up. I'm really thirsty which is good as drinking then doesn't feel like a chore. My 18yo asked me this morning if this was expected to be feeling like I am? Heck no lol. I anticipated a lot but not 2 weeks of nausea and to be repulsed by many foods.

    May 2023 surgeries

Yes all foods sound terrible. Didn't anticipate this. Soft stage will hopefully be better with more choice. I really can't wait to be past feeling this way. I feel better knowing that I'm not alone. Hugs everyone.

    May 2023 surgeries

I'm absolutely miserable right now. I am nauseated all the time so have to take meds for it. I'm thinking it's meds on an empty stomach. I take Effexor, Multivitamin and Iron plus anything else I need like nausea or pain med. The first 3 are with food and well there's no food really! So for a few days I'm only taking Effexor to see if it helps, plus it's puree time. Not that I even want to eat anymore!

Gabbie, yes to the fatigue. I've slept a lot the past few days. Just so tired. I've been struggling to drink enough all of a sudden too. I think the liquid diet has just become too much, I can't do broths or jelly any more, the thought makes me sick. I've had a little bit of mashed potato and it went down fine. I'm not one bit hungry though. I was so looking forward to this stage and now I don't even want to eat. I'm also quite nauseated a lot.

    6 Days Post-Op

Take something to move your bowels or you'll end up with awful pain from constipation. The weight will start dropping soon I promise.

Great to hear from so many of you. I'm meeting liquid goals most days, thank god for broth as its half my liquid at this stage. I want to be at the puree stage so badly. I hate the liquid stage. Only a few more days now. I'm going to instant pot 6 different meals this weekend so I have my pureed foods ready to go. I'm losing about 2.5 pounds a day right now. What the heck right? It obviously won't last but wow. For those on puree how is it going? How much can you eat per meal?

    Any surgery day buddies ?

Yes there are, look for the June thread. Good luck!
  23. Good for you! Luckily most of us do come out the other side of surgery just fine. I'm 8dpo and doing great. I'm losing fast too. We're both heavier so it makes sense and it is the liquid stage. Losses will stabilise soon and not be at such a crazy rate. I'm losing about 2 pounds a day which is nice but it's very short term, like a honeymoon phase. Keep up the good work and join our May Buddies thread if you haven't already.

    May 2023 surgeries

I'm not worrying about protein during the liquid phase, it's impossible to meet so once I start purees it'll be my main focus. I'm so sick of this stage. Six more days...
