LindaV replied to kimjdh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kim, You should post an introduction in the "May 2006 Band Crew" thread. We do a lot of comparing notes there. There are getting to be close to 100 of us now. I was banded in Idaho on May 1st. Welcome to LBT! -
Dody, I'm glad you got the vascular problem diagnosed and will have it taken care of. The band can wait. The nice thing is, when you finally get the band, you probably won't have any more trouble with arteries getting blocked. Keep us posted on how things are going. I'll keep you in my prayers!

Hello there... newbie..
LindaV replied to Killer_Dimples's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi KD, Your intro is better and more informative than mine. I live in Idaho but moved from Anaheim a couple of years ago. I was banded a few weeks ago and in your position a few short months ago. Welcome to LBT and good luck with the insurance process! -
I agree, that's a little weird leaving the note on your pillow! I wouldn't worry too much though. You cancelled the service and changed your code. Cleaning people aren't known for going postal.
-
3Loves, I have enjoyed reading all your posts in the May Band Crew thread. I just wanted to wish you good luck and quick healing. I know you'll keep us posted!
-
I ditto all the rest! You know how much I appreciate you, Susan! I really miss the walks--WE REALLY HAVE TO START WALKING AGAIN!!
-
Kelly-Girl, I love your avatar. Is that your dog?:pound:

I want to go skiing with my son this winter. I am done being a chair warmer in the lodge while he has all the fun! In fact, I am going to go purchase equipment at the local ski swap so I am ready to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Oh, it's also a great chance to compare scars. Hippo's Hopes are soooooo much nicer than mine and we were banded the same day!
-
I'm just curious where all the May bandsters live. I know dasharoo and Hippo's Hope and I are from Idaho. HH and I had dinner with a group of fello bandsters on Monday. If you are close to someone else, get together! It is a really great way to keep on track, get advice and get/give encouragement. Any other May Bandster from Idaho - particularly the Treasure Valley area?
-
I just counted all of us from the list. There are about 81 of us May Bandsters now, I wonder if we will reach 100 by the end of the month? Since I was one of the first (May1), I'll post a quick update! I FEEL GREAT! I am about 31 pounds down (15 since surgery). I have some restriction which is good, but I am pretty sure my doc will give me a fill next month. I am exercising (1hour of deep water aerobics M-F). I am making healthy food choices but not completely depriving myself of some sweet stuff. I feel totally in control of my eating for the first time in my life. The band has done, so far, exactly what I hoped it would do. It has stopped me from eating massive quantities of food at a time. I know this is the beginning of what is going to be a long process, but I am so very happy with my decision to be banded and ready to take on life!

go to your primary car doc. Or go to an ER if you're really worried. They have to see you. That might be a little pricey though. Maybe call your doc and describe exactly what you feel. They might be able to advise you better. Good luck and keep me posted. You can PM me if you like. I'm off to bed now! -

Ok, that's not what I have. My little bumps don't move! Maybe it is part of your port or the tubing? I would call my doctor and make an appointment. It isn't worth worrying for days over when one look by your surgeon can determine if it is something to worry about. Try the ice like they said and if it isn't better soon, go see your doc. Good luck. -

Hey Letty, My incisions don't bother me too much. A couple of them are a little sore if I press on them with a good amount of pressure. If it is scar tissue developing, you might be better off with cocoabutter lotion or vitamin E. I have heard those things help with scaring. I havn't checked it recently, but there is a scar thread that might give you more information. I think I recall others who had bumpy scars as well. A lot of people post their pictures so you can compare. -

Letty, I have some hard bumpy areas under some of my incisions -I am 3 weeks post-op. I think it is just scar tissue developing and part of the healing process. If it continues to worry you, go see your doctor or even your primary care doc. Good luck. -
Hi Shirley, Welcome to LBT! Where are you from? I was banded 3 weeks ago in Boise, Idaho. I also had a very positive experience and am thrilled with the results so far. I am determined to work with my band and get this weight off for good!
-
Funny..., That was too funny!!! What a great thing to be able to get a workout and make people laugh at the same time! I especially loved the reference to the Brady Bunch!
-
Hey Wheetsin, Let us know when you will be here! It would be great to meet for dinner or something. As far as things to see...There is an open air market every Saturday that is right downtown. A lot of people float the Boise River in the summer. Either in rafts or on innertubes. The river is running pretty high this year so it should be exciting! My favorite restaurant downtown is called Square. They make crepes - both savory and sweet! They also have great salads and soups! We also have some beautiful parks here! They are great for walking, relaxing or having a picnic. I'm sure other's will have suggestions as well. How long will you be here?

Well I did it I joined Weight watchers last night.

Hi Tracey, I was only banded a few weeks ago, but I did my WW points for my pre-op diet and my surgeon and I were both pleased with the results. Now that I am banded, and have started on mushies, I am continuing to count points. I am using the points as a guideline for how much I should be eating. WW has always workied for me (until I quit and gained it all back). It is a tried and true method. Good luck - I really wish you the best! -
Another hour of deep water aerobics down. Holy cow, Telly! How do you do it! I'll be ready for a good nap after I go do my grocery shopping on top of aerobics. You must really be building up the muscle. Rock On!!!!!!!!!!
-
C 283 (-31 total, -6 this week) I guess water aerobics is paying off!
-
I did an hour of deep water aerobics this morning and yesterday! I love that I hardly weigh anything in the water.

Hi, I'm Linda and I will be getting my band on May 1st. I can't wait and Iam sure I will have more to say and more questions after that.
