  1. RavenClaw & Jachut - I'm sending my prayers to the both of you for continued strength and certainly for healing.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov., 2010 (banded Oct. 2008); I was finally getting down to a good weight for myself. As soon as I found out I was going to have to have two surgeries, chemo & radiation - I visited the bariatric office and was unfilled. I'm still not sure if that was a good or bad idea and probably will never know, for sure. However, during the AC / Taxol treatments [8 total] and 2nd surgery, I managed to gain all of my weight back. During chemo - if I wasn't sick on the stomach with the taste of metallic in my mouth - I was dealing with extreme fatigue and severe bone aches. So - I can say that I know what you mean. I did in fact lose my appetite a lot... but I just kept eating anything and everything that my DH put in front of me - trying to find a 'taste'. Loading ketchup on everything.. ugh. Now that I am towards the end of radiation, I've finally made an appointment for a fill. I'll go today for the fill and see if this helps at all.

When I went for my unfill, the bariatric doc told me not to worry about my weight - but to focus on healing. And I did. I 'thought' slightly about the weight, but I just kept eating. Thinking it might make me feel better. So - I think we just have to heal and worry about our weight later. We are blessed to be around after such a diagnosis. But, I do want to get back on track, ASAP.

Best of success to the both of you and any others who are faced with this nasty mess.

  2. Thanks to both of you ~ of course I know you are right. I was so doing the right things - eating balanced & exercising.

Anyway, went for my fill and he wouldn't give it to me.

Told me to get on track with my meals and check back with him a couple of weeks. I'm trying hard. After my appt. on Wedn., I went back to my smaller, high Protein meals with minimal & sensible snacking. Hopped back onto the treadmill. Amazingly, this broke my plateau - allowing me to drop 3 lbs. Water weight; seems to put me back on track.

I also really want a fill and he won't give it to me; I've emailed him twice since my appointment and he's told me no. I don't like that ~ because I still want a fill - I haven't had one since April. It's not easy finding a fill doc when you are self pay - as it is, his price is up $180.

Again, thank you for the words of wisdom. I truly needed it.

  3. Thanks everyone! I went for my fill and am now at 10cc in my 14cc band. I know 11cc is too much-been there choked on that lol-It feels like its going to be a good fill, but the day after might be too early to tell. I talked with my family last night and got alot of things straightened out. They will quit feeling sorry for me and my smaller portions and I will quit trying to be the old eater for their benefit! Hopefully me and my "Lil Bandida" can start to work together and I will soon be on the "losing" side of this battle. *wink*

Thanks again! Y'all are such great inspirations!

    Cheryl

Wow! What a revelation for me....

I need to have that talk with myself..

Thanks for sharing. Continued success to you.

  4. Well, since I have started to work out I just feel better point blank! I love the energy that it gives me! I'm in love with it!!!:smile2: Plus my butt and legs looks better and you can't get that from just sitting at home. I have gotten two compliments about being sexy this month from men and that's more than I have gotten all year!! LOL!

    That IS awesome!

  5. I see you are now on the sharp bit of the learning curve...

everytime you bring something back up it will cause some swelling so you need to be aware that if something did not go down the first time then it probably won't after either.

If you wait until you feel full before you stop eating then you are probably eating too much. Stop when you no longer feel hungry. The pressure building is because the food you ate, after you should have stopped, is backed up and cannot get through into the main part of your stomach. food is not meant to sit in your oesophagus and it is not designed to handle it.

Try to eat just enough to fill your pouch but not to the point where there is a queue of food waiting to get in!! That queue of food brings pain and will also stretch your pouch.

This is good info for me - and I'll save it for my own advice as well. I too, plan to begin to be mindful... from now on.

Thank you & Continued Success to Each of you.

  6. Seeing my fill Doc this coming Wednesday.

1st off, I'm self-pay... I haven't had many fills & the doc who does them is right, when he tells me I need to come back more often. The problem I find is that when he's trying to give me more Fluid at one sitting - I feel as though I can't breath & certainly have a hard time drinking that Water afterwards ~ so I always only get just a little. Then, a couple of weeks later - unfortunately, I can eat way, way more than I need to - so, no weight lose . It's sad, that when I see a lose - I feel like exercising... when the weight stalls or goes up even by 1-2 lbs... I stop exercising. This pattern has not been good for me, of course because I'm not losing... just maintaining.

I am so hoping I can take in & accept a 'good' fill amount this time and can eat the small amounts like my fellow bandsters here.

It's my hopes to re-commit to losing and to try to lose at least 15 lbs. by the end of November.

Thanks for listening to my rant...

    CONTINUED SUCCESS TO EACH YOU!!
